Atonement, awareness of ones guilt, forgiveness, and the priesthood of Jesus are topics, today. The fighter at “Yahoo! Answers” using the ID “SupaStar” (Level 2 with 432 points, a member since August 7, 2014) posted the following:
When Jesus said "Forgive them for they know not what they do"... was he talking to god?
And, if he was talking to god about forgiving all of us for "not knowing what they do", then, how can god not forgive EVERYONE, SPECIFICALLY if they disrespect him, even WITHOUT "accepting Jesus", because, after all....

“SupaStar”, here are a few points shared among Christian believers that you might find helpful:
(1.) Jesus Christ died upon the cross as a further aspect of his work as a divinely appointed priest within the covenant of GOD established under Moses. In addition to prayers on behalf of others (we say, intercession, mediation), Christ was to serve as an acceptable sacrifice for sin that would supply blood for atonement, and the remission of sins.
(2.) The law and tradition established through covenant acknowledged that sin may appear through simple errors, ignorance, and lapses of discipline. Sin is not always a matter of iniquity (i.e., deliberate or persistent action against authority and divine law). Not having knowledge of all the law, a person could be guilty of transgression without knowing they had committed an error. Once a person realized that their behavior and conduct had violated the law, they were required to make an atonement sacrifice with offerings of blood.
(3.) The operations of sin oppose the continued existence of all living. While we describe sin and wickedness as a feature of attitudes and behavior, sin is no object or thing that has a distinct material, physical or spirit form. Yet, sin is an influence having direction, effect, and presence, and may dominate awareness and self-will within created beings and living creatures. Without divine provisions such as covenant, sacred knowledge, law, promise, and prophecy, mankind can not correctly recognize or resist the operation of sin. Finite human tools such as intellect, logic, mathematics, philosophy and science are not able to eliminate sin.
There is far more to be said, correctly understood, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, (4.) The ministry of Jesus as a divine High Priest has also provided a model and picture to all mankind for personal relationship with divinity. How we value our own lives and identity is essential to how we value Deity; and how we regard divinity determines multiple aspects of who and what will be our full life experience. Those who acknowledge intimacy with GOD as their Father must also acknowledge specific challenges, duties, and privileges.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.
