Why is Jesus called the "Prince of Peace" when he said that he did not come to bring peace to earth?
I have heard of Jesus referred to as the "Prince of Peace," but then I found the following, which seems to contradict that title.
"Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it." (Mathew 10:34-39)

“Anthony”, here are a few points that are often overlooked when considering Christ as the Prince of Peace:
(1.) Divinity is to have rule through a lasting and permanent spiritual condition, not a one-time event, or series of social exchanges. The sword that is brought to the earth is not warfare, rather it is authority and government by GOD that also includes the continuous execution of eternal purpose and righteous judgment.
(2.) Before created beings and living creatures may know peace, Almighty GOD must have the accomplishment, fulfillment, and satisfaction whereby divinity is at peace. The mystery of GOD (we say, sacred truth) is to be revealed and acknowledged; and all things proclaimed, promised, and prophesied must be carried out and completed by the same Spirit that operated at Creation.
(3.) The peace from GOD “passes understanding” in the sense that it does not derive from the exercise of such finite tools as emotion, intellect, logic, reason, and science. Peace proceeds from discerning (i.e., detecting, recognizing and responding to) the presence and interaction that occurs among the aspects of ones own and the divine content in others. The inseparable aspects from the makeup of GOD include accountability, faith, forbearance, forgiveness, holiness, longsuffering, love, wisdom, and wrath against sin.
There is far more to be said, correctly understood, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, (4.) All Christian believers enter into a process of change, growth, and transformation to become immortal and incorruptible companions to Jesus Christ. Through operations of the Holy Spirit, believers enter into a relationship with One who is eternal and immutable. Those “born again” also must “grow up again” (we say, mature) meeting the challenges and “growing pains” of life in the earth. This includes resolving conflicts between the flesh and the Spirit, eliminating imbalance and inconsistency as well as detecting and resisting sin. Peace, therefore, does not mean apathy, idleness or inactivity. Divine peace is certainty, closure (we say, being sealed), commitment, perfection, and sanctification that comes by being immersed within and joined to GOD (we say, unity).) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith and standing as one preparing, and being prepared.
