(07/01/2014) The Value of Man?

A brief Scripture study is shared today focused upon the excellence of mankind as an aspect of Creation.  Man is exalted, lifted to an otherwise unattainable height, by endowments from GOD that establish life, even divine love appearing as operations of grace and faith.

SOME THOUGHTS ON

3  For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.  (Romans 12:  3, KJV)

Genesis 1:  27 (KJV)  27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 3:  17-19 (KJV)  17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it:  cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;  18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;  19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Exodus 13:  1-2 (KJV)  1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,  2 Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast:  it is mine.

Job 7:  17-18 (KJV)  17 What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him?  18 And that thou shouldest visit him every morning, and try him every moment?

Job 15:  7-15 (KJV)  7 Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?  8 Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?  9 What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?  10 With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.  11 Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?  12 Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,  13 That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?  14 What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?  15 Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

Job 32:  8 (KJV)  8 But there is a spirit in man:  and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

Psalms 8:  2-9 (KJV)  2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.  3 When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;  4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?  5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.  6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:  7 All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;  8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.  9 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

Psalms 17:  7-9 (KJV)  7 Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.  8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,  9 From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

Psalms 89:  47-48 (KJV)  47 Remember how short my time is:  wherefore hast thou made all men in vain?  48 What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.

Psalms 144:  3-5 (KJV)  3 LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!  4 Man is like to vanity:  his days are as a shadow that passeth away.

Matthew 10:  29-31 (KJV)  29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.  30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Hebrews 12:  1-8 (KJV)  1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,  2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.  3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.  4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.  5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:  6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.  7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?  8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

There is far more to be said, properly shared, and spiritually understood.  Readers are invited to show any verse or passage from Scripture that they would like to share in the comments area (see below).  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.
