(11/04/2015) The Sum of the Saved?

Today, reply is made to a question on the number of those damned against that of those saved.  Consider the topic as introduced in the holy writings that follow and those presented below:  Luke 13:  23-30, King James Version (KJV):  23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,  24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate:  for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.  25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:  26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.  27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.  28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.  29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.  30 And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.  Also, Matthew 7:  11-14, KJV:  11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?  12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them:  for this is the law and the prophets.  13 Enter ye in at the strait gate:  for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:  14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.  Tatoo Mindine, who participates with me in THE BIBLE STUDY GROUP (a Public Group on Facebook presently having 20,744 members), invited discussion by sharing a presentation that included the following on September 21, 2015:

heaven and hell which do you think will be more populated let's get into the word not personal opinions.. bring on saints and let's through this topic delight in the word of God

THE GOLDEN ARROW:   And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.  And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it.  And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times so many more as they be:  but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord’s servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?  Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.  And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword:  and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.  But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them:  for the king’s word was abominable to Joab.  And God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Israel.  (1st Chronicles 21:  1-7, KJV)

“Tatoo Mindine”, here are a few points to consider from the parables and prophesies of the Bible that speak to what will be the size of the eternal kingdom:

(1.)  Matthew 22:  9-14, KJV:  9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.  10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good:  and the wedding was furnished with guests.  11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:  12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou hither not having a wedding garment?  And he was speechless.  13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.  14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

(2.)  Revelation 7:  1-4, KJV:  1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.  2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God:  and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,  3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.  4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed:  and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

(3.)  Revelation 7:  9-12, KJV:  9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;  10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God, which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.  11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God.  12 Saying, Amen:  Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever.  Amen.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (4.) 1st Chronicles 27:  23-24, KJV:  23 But David took not the number of  them from twenty years old and under:  because the LORD had said he would increase Israel like to the stars of the heavens.  24 Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but he finished not, because there fell wrath for it against Israel; neither was the number put in the account of the chronicles of king David.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.
