In the light of social values widely held today, the choice for knowledge made by Adam (GOD’s name for both the male and female) mistakenly is seen as a choice for enlightenment, freedom, and independence. However, Adam’s choice also was done in ignorance (i.e., denying and refusing to apply information and truth already received), without correct distance (we say, experience, perspective, the Big Picture), and proper focus. The pair chose to be in-filled with carnal and secular knowledge, pleasure, and sense experience (e.g., hearing, seeing, tasting) that would result in their separation from divinity, rather than be filled with revelation and sacred knowledge that would ensure right relationship, genuine reverence, and acceptable worship of Deity. In addition to receiving knowledge by discovery and learning, it was GOD’s intent that mankind continue to receive knowledge by regular, intimate exchange and interaction with GOD. When GOD called, neither answered. Influenced by the serpent, the pair engaged the operations of sin; and the knowledge they received immediately altered their attitudes, behavior, and comprehension. The aspects of knowledge were introduced that include deceit, error, exaggeration, forgetting, lies, and presumption. Corruption, decay and rot were begun that resulted in displays of distrust, fear, pride, and shame. Consider the following points from the holy writings:
