(10/09/2015) Penance?

Today, Scripture points are shared on atonement, conversion, and repentance.  Through Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God, mankind now may receive forgiveness for sin, and the atonement that must be made even where there has been error through ignorance and lack of sacred knowledge.  Consider again the following from Scripture, and the points appearing below:  Leviticus 5:  14-19, King James Version (KJV):  14 And the LORD spake unto Moses,  saying, If a soul commit a trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy things of the LORD; then he shall bring for his trespass unto the LORD a ram without blemish out of the flocks, with thy estimation by shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering:  And he shall make amends for the harm that he hath done in the holy thing, and shall add the fifth part thereto, and give it unto the priest:  and the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and it shall be forgiven him.  And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the LORD; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity.  And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock, with thy estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest:  and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his ignorance wherein he erred and wist it not, and it shall be forgiven him.  It is a trespass offering:  he hath certainly trespassed against the LORD.  One of the fighters at “Yahoo! If a convert to Christianity will I have to do penance for all the premarital sex Ive had?

If so if I convert next year instead of now will the penance be substantially worse?

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  Behold all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine:  the soul that sinneth, it shall die.  But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,  And hath not eaten upon the mountain, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour’s wife, neither hath come near to a menstrous woman,  And hath not oppressed any, but hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;  He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man,  Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.  (Ezekiel 18:  4-9, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  All Have Sinned? (07/29/2015); To Err Is Human? (07/24/2015); Guilt and Ignorance? (12/04/2014); Joined To Christ Through Faith (12/05/2014); All Who Read Convert? (10/10/2014); Not Told In Advance (10/11/2014); About Conversion (09/03/2012); By Grace (09/04/2012)

“Anonymous”, the penance one performs is directed to restoring spirit content and full relationship with divinity that is lost by the expression of ungodly attitudes, disobedience to divine law, pride, and unrighteousness.  Conversion only occurs where there is realization and understanding of ones own need for change, cleansing, forgiveness, healing, rebirth and sanctification that only come through the operations of GOD.  A believer may be released from the whole bag of their past criminal behavior and sexual sins (e.g., adultery, incest, shame-sex relationships, witchcraft) they committed in ignorance and simplicity (i.e., immaturity, separation from GOD, underdevelopment) once they choose to make a commitment that focuses in confession, contrition, acquiring and applying sacred knowledge, expressing gratitude, demonstrating repentance, and providing unselfish service to others.  The blood of atonement at the cross was in a carnal and material form, however, in the heavens it has a spirit form that makes possible its application to all error and sin including iniquity (deliberate and willful defiance, disobedience and rebellion).  Consider again the following points from the holy writings:

(1.)  Ezekiel 18:  20-23, King James Version (KJV):  20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die.  The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son:  the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.  21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.  22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him:  in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.  23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GODand not that he should return from his ways and live?

(2.)  2nd Chronicles 7:  14, KJV:  14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

(3.)  Jeremiah 29:  13, KJV:  13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

(4.)  Ezekiel 17:  49-50, KJV:  49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.  50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me:  therefore I took them away as I saw good.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (5.)  Psalms 15:  1-5, KJV:  1 LORD, who shall abide in they tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?  2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.  3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.  4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORDHe that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not.  5 He that putteth not out his money to  usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent.  He that doeth these things shall never be moved.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.
