(08/14/2015) No Other gods?

Scriptures points are shared, today, on idolatry, false worship, and the existence of no other gods besides the Creator.  It is written:  The secret things belong unto the LORD our God:  but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law (Deuteronomy 29:  29, KJV).  Because mankind is finite and temporal, the operations of the one holy, sanctified (we say, set apart) and true GOD to make known the full control, power, eternal purposes, immutability, range and scope of divinity must encompass multiple manifestations of existence through detail and subtlety (i.e., barely visible differences; changes that are difficult to detect; hidden shifts in meaning and value).  Saying this another way:  GOD must use measurable dimension, form, material being, and even incarnation (appearing in flesh) to establish the most complete and correct revelation of divinity.  GOD is a spirit, and otherwise invisible to the eye.  Deity becomes known, therefore, using thousands of events appearing within and through thousands of lives over the course of thousands of years.  The human predicament is not that GOD has denied necessary sacred knowledge to humanity; it is that many upon the earth prefer human error, disbelief, and presumption.  A fighter at “Yahoo! Answers” using the ID “Nathan” (August 12, 2015) posted the following:

When God said: worship no other gods beside me(or whatever it was, you know what I mean), was he acknowledging that other gods exist?

If not, why wouldn't he say don't worship other things, or have worded it differently?

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.  Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?  But our God is in the heavens:  he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.  Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.  They have mouths, but they speak not:  eyes have they, but they see not:  They have ears, but they hear not:  noses have they, but they smell not:  They have hands, but they handle not:  feet have they, but they walk not:  neither speak they through their throat.  They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.  (Psalms 115:  1-8, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  Sun Worship? (07/27/2015); Covenants and Relationships (01/29/2014); Salvation is Conditional? (01/30/2014); GOD is Acknowledging (09/30/2013); The Power of Death? (10/01/2013); Why Would GOD Worry About Us? (04/16/2013); How To Accept Bible Truth? (04/17/2013); Unto Caesar...? (11/09/2012); Before the Fruit? (11/10/2012)

“Nathan”, divine law proclaiming that no other gods are to be worshiped acknowledges not the existence of multiple gods, instead, the existence of widespread human error, and the desperate need of created beings and living creatures for divine revelation.  Most mature Christians believe that from the beginning of this Creation that focuses upon and serves mankind, divinity has appeared and revealed the GODhead (i.e., made Deity known) by being in intimate relationships with those living upon the earth.  For nearly 1,000 years, Adam was upon the earth, and shared oral history and living testimony to the origins of the human race, the changes that occurred in the human condition as the result of sin, and the divine provisions for atonement, cleansing, correction, and the eternal existence of mankind as immortal and incorruptible.  Other descendants from Adam (we say, Patriarchs) also served as priests, rulers and spokespersons (we say, prophets) from GOD.  However, as portrayed in the account of Abel and Cain—both sons of Adam, who worshiped the same “one true GOD”—error, lack of sacred knowledge, murder, pride, sin and unacceptable worship continued to spread among mankind.  Responding to Abraham and others, GOD chose to create Israel as a nation that would be in a permanent relationship with divinity through divine love, sacred law, judgment, promise, and prophecy.  Seven nations had been in covenant before the tribes of Jacob were chosen; and all were judged by GOD as “worthy of destruction” (i.e., to be totally removed from existence upon the earth).  The seven all had betrayed GOD through practices that included backsliding, blasphemy, idolatry, impenitence, irreverence, treachery, false worship as well as the worship of demons and devils.  Here are a few points from the holy writings that may make some of this clearer for you:

(1.)  Leviticus 18:  2-4, King James Version (KJV):  2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the LORD your God.  3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do:  and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do:  neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.  4 Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein:  I am the LORD your God.

(2.)  Ezekiel 20:  13-17, KJV:  13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness:  they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted:  then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.  14 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.  15 Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;  16 Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths:  for their heart went after their idols.  17 Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.

(3.)  1st Corinthians 1:  18-21, KJV:  18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.  19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.  20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?  21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

(4.)  1st Corinthians 1:  26-31, KJV:  26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:  27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;  28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:  29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.  30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:  31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

(5.)  Revelation 1:  1-3, KJV:  1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:  2 Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.  3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein:  for the time is at hand.

There are many other Scriptures that should be carefully considered, correctly understood, and made a permanent part of ones own sacred knowledge.  (For example, (6.)  Revelation 9:  17-21, KJV:  17 And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone:  and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.  18 By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.  19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails:  for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.  20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood:  which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:  21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith, sacred knowledge, and the continuing operations of GOD for your perfection.
