(10/13/2015) Spirit, Spirit Beings, Spirit Persons?

Today, points are shared on language used to speak of the soul and the spirit.  When a “living soul” dies the spirit from GOD is separated from the flesh.  Yet, an account in Scripture reports a dead man revived when he touched the bones of the Prophet Elisha (see 2nd Kings 10:  21, King James Version (KJV) ).  For this to happen, there had to be contact with the Spirit that earlier inhabited the prophet; and his bones (we say, relics) had to contain a residue of the anointing, spirit content, and power that worked through Elisha while he was living.  Consider again the following from the Bible, and the points appearing below:  John 4:  23-24, KJV:  23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:  for the Father seeketh such to worship him.  24 God is a Spirit:  and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.  The writer at “Yahoo! Answers” using the ID “barajab” (Level 3 with 1,897 points, a member since April 05, 2010) posted the following:

“barajab”, may I share some thoughts I’ve come to after many years thinking about “the soul” and “the spirit.”   The following points on spirit beings, spirit-filled beings, and Spirit persons (the GODhead) will give you some positive ideas to eliminate error and spiritual confusion:

(1.)  Usually, Christian believers rely upon the holy writings to explain the meanings for “spirit” and “soul” in a fixed and focused manner, because when using these terms, multiple subtleties (i.e., barely visible differences; hidden shifts in direction and value) are often introduced by ones intent.  Using “spirit”, existence may be understood as enduring, or having presence without measurable dimensions.  Conditions and frameworks need not be applied that describe carnal, material, physical, and social being, or mortality, space and time.

(2.)  Mankind was first fashioned as an object that was empty and void of divine spirit (we also say, breath, life essence, spark, word).  When divinity imparted aspects of the divine makeup into the lifeless form, “man became a living soul.”  It is in this sense that mankind is made in the image of GOD as well as that, through the imparted Spirit, men may perform sacred duties, share sacred knowledge, and fulfill eternal purpose.

(3.)  Divinity is made up of inseparable substances entirely spirit in their content including faith, holiness, purity, righteousness, truth, wisdom, and wrath against sin.  Faith is made up only of faith, holiness only of holiness, truth only of truth, etc.  The communication, exchanges and interactions between and among the aspects of full spirit content are manifested and revealed to finite living creatures as active presence, character, nature, person, and eternal purpose.  Divinity continues to exist having the human form used to appear in the earth as Jesus Christ.

(4.)  Many mistakenly speak of “the immortal soul,” however, only GOD is immortal.  Angels, demons, devils, the sacred beasts of heaven, and unclean spirits (we say, spirit beings) are created beings and living creatures whose makeup and substance is spirit.  While they may have been fashioned and given life long before the creation of the earth, they are neither mortal nor immortal.  Their duration is not determined by their form; rather, they continue by the dispensation of GOD (we say, grace), and divine prerogative.

(5.)  There is no “dead” soul; yet, at death ones spirit is separated from the physical body.  The spirit from a dead person does continue to exist, however, not within any frame of reference presently known in the experience of the living.  Death is spoken of as sleep, because sleep describes the suspension of awareness and self-will.  However, sleep is an action among the living.

(6.)  Living persons are said to be “dead in spirit” where they do not respond to the divine law, the imperatives of judgment and sacred truth, or the living will of GOD.  In effect, they lack the basic equipment for correct comprehension and response to utterances provided by divinity for continuous acknowledgment and contact (e.g., admonition, confession, fellowship with other believers, giving, guidance, obedience, offering, prayer, praise, promise, prophecy, sacrifice).

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (7.)  The followers of Jesus Christ are to be “spirit-filled beings” as they continue living in the earth, facing the same life challenges as everyone else.  Just as they are “born again” through baptism (death of ones inborn spirit; rebirth from divine DNA, so to speak) and operations by the Spirit of GOD, believers must “grow up again.”  All are to appear mature, “ripe” and ready to be harvested from the earth by Jesus Christ at his Advent (we say, Second Coming).  Their transformation to live as immortal and incorruptible will be completed at that time.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

(09/13/2014) The Gender of Divinity?

Points are shared on the sexual category and characteristics of the Holy Spirit, today.  A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “Babs” (Level 6 with 12,796 points, a member since December 31, 2013) posted the following:

“Babs”, here are a few points about the Holy Spirit that have been useful to Christian believers:

(1.)  The Holy Spirit is understood to be an agent or aspect of the full divine person.  GOD is a spirit who has put forth all created beings and living creatures, conditions for their duration, various spheres wherein they experience life (e.g., earth, heaven, the universe), processes for change and development of life (e.g., birth, maturity, perfection) as well as sacred processes for revelation of divinity (e.g., covenant, family, incarnation, prophecy).

(2.)  Gender pertains to those alive in the earth who appear having material flesh, and features that may dominate their physical operation such as appetite (e.g., hunger, thirst, sexual cravings), sensation (e.g., hearing, seeing, tasting, touching), and emotional/mental functions (e.g., anger, desire, fear, imagination, recall).  Distinctions exist within mankind and others species between males and females on the basis of a range of factors that include their organs, tissues, and body parts; size; social functions; roles in reproduction; and physical strength.

There is far more to be said, correctly understood, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (3.)  There is no issue of competition, gender, hierarchy or separation among the divine persons.  The full reality of divine being is spoken of as “the GODhead” in order to acknowledge that there are clear patterns among the events that describe the active presence of GOD within the earth.  In the person of the Father, GOD is understood as existing in pure spirit form that does not visibly appear to the created.  As the Holy Spirit (also called the Comforter, the Spirit of Prophecy, the Spirit of Truth), GOD has established heaven and earth, and all living, and also resides within those in relationship to GOD through Jesus Christ.  As the Son of GOD (also called the Word, the Breath of Life, the Lamb of GOD) many unchanging divine operations, sacred purposes, and eternal functions are being completed and carried out.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

(08/20/2014) Principles of Correct Belief?

Today, principles of correct belief are in view with more points on being judged about sexual activity by the body of believers, ones church or local congregation.


THE BATTLE AXE:  Condemned by the Church? (08/19/2014)(4.)  Christian believers must reject many premises and unspoken points of truth established at birth that are widely held as carnal thoughts, popular culture, and social consciousness.  For example, it is common to hold that, where GOD has something to say to me, no human may speak for GOD.  GOD must speak for himself.  Such a belief also denies that GOD has authority to appoint or send angels, agents, congregations, covenant people, pastors, or any other representatives as his spokesperson (we say, prophet).  No document, record or holy writings may convey the heart and mind of GOD.  Only his physical appearance and audible voice are acceptable.  More than this, GOD may not appear incarnate (in flesh or human form), for then, he can not be acknowledged as having divine person and power as GOD.  For those who are born again, the content and operations of the flesh and mind are being gradually changed and transformed to constantly maintain genuine spiritual focus.  Created beings and living creatures do not otherwise escape the inborn mechanics of appetite, self, and sensation that continually make the false declarations:  Life is only good when I can get what I want; I can’t live without what I desire; where we can’t have our way we should refuse to obey the command to live; I’ll die if I can’t have my way.

(5.)  For many, observing a principle that GOD is One—an amount or quantity, rather than an immeasurable aspect or quality of existence (we say, spirit)—denies that GOD may at once appear, or be expressed through multiple forms, functions, and person.  Insisting that only a single Supreme Being may be in ones life as an expression of sovereign truth also results in the rejection of admonition, chastisement, comfort, and divine love that are generated and proclaimed by the imparted Spirit of GOD residing within those who are his Creation, his offspring, and his servants.  Curiously, many of those insisting that GOD is One, reject a second principle that also must be upheld:  Nothing shall be impossible for GOD.

(6.)  Because we call it “being saved” and “salvation” many fail to recognize the Gospel calls mankind into a divine process of correction.  As with many aspects of rebirth, eternal life and divinity, the frameworks of time and space must be suspended to embrace the divine victory over sin.  For even though the sinner is destroyed by death, the consequences of their deeds continue indefinitely.  Believers are not to deny or forget their own experience of errors and problems that blocked their access to GOD before coming to Christ.  All are to develop discernment, the ability to identify the spirit content within such focuses as events, messages, motives, objects, other persons, the holy writings, and themselves.   Discernment makes it possible to clearly identify ones own disobedience, doubt, short comings, spiritual needs, and sin; and then correctly apply sacred knowledge for cleansing and permanent change.

(7.)  Clergy, parents, those charged to make critical evaluations or reviews, and all other authority figures will be attacked when they are incorrectly seen to be despots, “false gods,” and manipulators.  The covenant agreement between Christ and a believer that is established through the Savior’s blood and body is a contract for intercession and mediation in judgment that does not immediately eliminate, or remove all sin and temptation.  Also, believers are not relieved of accountability, obligation to GOD, duty, or responsibility within the covenant relationship.  In this sense, salvation is conditional and requires acceptance, communication (e.g., praise, prayer, promise, prophecy), cooperation, discipline, fulfillment of terms, and trust.  Conflict, defiance, doubt, rebellion, and suspicion appear within a church body until believers become balanced, mature and stable through the Holy Spirit. 

(8.)  While public prohibitions of early, pre-marital and same gender sexual experiences are becoming relaxed and suspended on the basis of inclusiveness, political franchise, popular culture, and campaigns by social media among secular communities, the standard within the church community must remain fixed as the expression of sacred law, divine order and eternal purpose.  Almighty GOD is correctly described as loving, responsive, and understanding, yet, he is also immutable and unchanging.  There must be repentance—not necessarily guilt or shame—and the redirecting of ones will regarding things held to be “natural”, normal, and of unquestioned value.  Under the spells of appetite and sensation many young people “innocently” become entrapped within defilement and uncleanness that weaken their bond to GOD.  The unexpected spiritual outcomes from fornication can only be reversed through purification provided from GOD.  Sexual behavior may be thought of as always being dangerous, for the consequences—even with the same couple (a man and his wife) who have had no other partners since sharing loss of virginity on their wedding night, in the same location, under the same circumstances—may vary greatly from one episode to the next (e.g., dissatisfaction, failure to climax, unwanted pregnancy, STDs).  In general, sex is an animal aspect that can not be controlled, or made predictable simply using finite intellect, logic, reason, and science.  While the joining of spirits through sexual activity can be a sacred device to build, heal, and strengthen individuals, through lust, pride and violence sex also becomes an instrument that spreads confusion, cuts off ones divine possibilities, weakens, and destroys.  Sacred knowledge and fellowship within the body of Christ will ever oppose ignorance of divine law regarding sexuality as well as the correct processes for marriage and commitment to ones life companions (e.g., offspring, parents, spouse).


THE GOLDEN ARROW:  Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?  Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?  Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?  If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.  I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?  But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.  Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?  Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.  Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? (10/29/2013) All Flesh is Grass?

Today, continuing the Scriptures on Scripture format, focus is upon human frailty, the brevity of life, and new birth through the Gospel.  At some point in their growth as a Christian, every believer will use Scriptures on Scripture (also identified as “concordance study” and “chain referencing”).  It is a basic tool for learning and sharing that should be helpful even to readers who are not familiar with the Bible and other holy writings.


SOME THOUGHTS ON

6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:

7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth:  because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it:  surely the people is grass.

8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth:  but the word of our God shall stand for ever.  (Isaiah 40:  6-8, KJV)



Job 14:  1-3  (KJV)  1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.  2 He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down:  he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.  3 And doth thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?

Titus 3:  3-7 (KJV)  3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.  4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,  5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;  6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;  7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

1st Peter 1:  22-25 (KJV)  22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:  23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.  24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.  The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:  25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.  And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

John 6:  53-55 (KJV)  53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.  54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.  55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.  56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.  57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father:  so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.  58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead:  he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

THE BATTLE AXE: What Is Reality (a.k.a. Truth)? (09/29/2012)—The human predicament is not the absence of reality and truth. Rather, it is the surpassing difficulty encountered before accepting, consistently benefiting by, having proper distance (i.e., near to/far from) for, and maintaining uncluttered awareness, useful insights and recall of reality and truth. Reality and truth are conditions in place as aspects of existence. Human experiences of reality and truth often embrace their own contradictions and opposites. Moreover, the full dimensions of reality and truth extend beyond the ordinary scope of human understanding and vision, and thus may be actual and present, yet remain invisible and unseen. In the same way elements from past experience have status as real and true in the present, there are levels of truth and reality for the content of dreams, goals, expectations, miracles, possibilities and events in sequence that have not yet occurred. The reality and truth of mankind includes becoming mature through continuous growth and learning. Human nature also contains aspects of divinity that may develop, and transform experiences of material reality and truth. All reality and truth may not be characterized as colorful, graphic, memorable and vivid; reality and truth also may be boring, dull, oppressive, and rightly understood, inescapable.

THE GOLDEN ARROW: There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.       Walk with me: GOD is a spirit, not a material being. The awareness of created beings and living creatures is dominated by the flesh--appetite such as hunger, thirst, sexual craving; the world--such social realities as culture, family, peers; and the mind--such aspects as emotion, desire, imagination, lust. GOD makes divine person known to the living using features and mechanisms that respond to the peculiar makeup of their physical and spiritual person. The full spectrum of what we are includes that we are finite (have various limitations), are mortal (are subject to death), and our self-will is vulnerable to influences that do not come from GOD and are not human.
      
     The Incarnation of GOD as a device to permit human beings to be in closer relationship with the unseen and with one another uses how we connect and identify by seeing ourselves in others. In the flesh as Jesus, Almighty GOD further displays our Maker as accessible, compassionate, merciful, righteous, truthful and sovereign. More than this, mankind is shown to be capable of overcoming sin, sinners and unclean spirits; capable of comprehending sacred truth; capable of receiving divine content (e.g., faith, holiness, humility, joy, wisdom, wrath, against sin); capable of surviving as POWs in a spiritual war; and capable of serving as an instrument to fulfill divine proclamation, promise, and prophecy.
      
     There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, sin is an influence that can dominate the will of created beings and living creatures, and was first “discovered” among the angels. Sin is not a creation of GOD; is no material or physical thing; has no content of divine substance; and has no power to influence the will of GOD. Sin opposes the existence of GOD, of divine law, and divine Creation. The processes of GOD to remove sin goes beyond understanding of the created while they are separated from GOD, and must be supplied through truth imparted by the Holy Spirit (such as you are receiving, here). Included among the many sacred processes to extend an imparted, indwelling spirit to mankind are covenant, death, forgiveness, Incarnation, judgment, law, marriage, repentance, rebirth, regeneration, resurrection, and sanctification.)       Idolatry, Incarnation, the GODhead, the Holy Spirit, and willpower are topics, today. A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “Call me Gary” (Level 5 with 6,461 points, a member since July 11, 2006) posted the following:



Is Jesus a man living in heaven?

Most Trinitarians believe that Jesus is both man and God.
Jehovah’s Witnesses believe the Bible teaches that when Jesus died he died a human and was raised to heaven as a spirit person.
Do Trinitarians really believe that Jesus is a man living in heaven?



THE BATTLE AXE: The Spirit by Measure (09/22/2012)—Idolatry, the worship of false gods by adoration of graven images, is also a condition of infirmity and reduced willpower wherein a person believes there is will in some lifeless object or thing greater than their own human, self-will. Otherwise harmless and useful items are made to be abominations, exalted and given the place of our GOD. For example, many lament not being able to quit the habit of cigarette smoking; so the “will of the smoke” must be greater than “the will of the folk.” These acknowledge some power within the cigarette that controls their attitudes and behavior. Similarly, in one of the most widespread errors of our times, we see those who do not use alcohol and drugs indignant and terrified by the mere thought of their children or some neighbor being “users”. Saying this another way: Many are now addicted to anger, confusion and hate on the basis of what they suppose others are addicted to. The pursuit of such themes as drug addiction, LGBT, freedom, madness, and pleasure, derive from operations of the flesh, not from the Spirit of GOD. Where the prevailing notion of sexual freedom entails acceptance of spiritual duty as “optional”, and both decreased responsibility and lack of inhibition are acceptable, a person’s deposit of divine will, and the Spirit from GOD are seen to be woefully diminished. Surely, it cannot be correct for the children of GOD to approve that selfishness, sex, drugs and controlled substances, be feared, praised or promoted above family, friendship, offspring, parents, and spouse. Efforts to recover and release the victims of addictions cannot succeed when directed to change only a discrete behavior. Addiction is a life pattern expressed simultaneously on multiple levels of a person’s emotional, mental, physical, psychological and spiritual being. Change of ones spirit content can only be brought about through the action of divinity, and the increased measure of Spirit that is now imparted to mankind.

      Many mature Christian believers endorse the teaching that Jesus is now in heaven, and continues in the flesh and form of a man. As with the doctrines of Creation and Salvation, the doctrine of Incarnation speaks to a divine revelation whereby the eternal person and presence of Almighty GOD is made known and visible as immortal, incorruptible, and sovereign by the use of flesh and blood. GOD is a spirit, and as such is without limits, dimension, material being, and shape. Moreover, GOD is not a cloud, a fog, mist, smoke, a vapor, or any other material thing that lacks cohesion and solidity. GOD must be understood as a divine person consisting of such inseparable sacred substances as faith, holiness, hope, humility, joy, love, righteousness, truth, wisdom and wrath against sin.

      GOD is known and made visible to created beings and living creatures through various mechanisms in line with the measure of divine person deposited within them at Creation. Angels, animals, mankind and sacred beasts all apprehend GOD as if GOD changes, or displays himself in various forms. However, rightly understood, GOD is immutable and unchanging. Those who deny that GOD is less than divine, because they do not understand all that is necessary or possible with GOD must be accounted as those spiritually underdeveloped and immature.

      The oneness of GOD is not violated by the fact that created beings and living creatures only apprehend divinity on terms dictated by GOD, not by themselves. The oneness of GOD is not determined by human frameworks such as form, time and space. The oneness of GOD derives from such sacred processes and purposes as Creation, damnation, eternal life, forgiveness, rebirth, regeneration, resurrection and sanctification.

      There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, there are many truths concerning the character and nature that are the person of GOD that will never be shared with humankind. Acceptance, respect, trust and understanding are vital to the relationship established as Christian belief. The validity of sacred truth must be discerned and recognized without use of the usual tools of the flesh (appetite, sensation, mind). Only by the imparted, indwelling spirit (called the Comforter, the Spirit of Prophecy, the Spirit of Truth) supplied through Jesus Christ, can there be this peculiar knowledge of the GODhead among the created.)
