(02/20/2018) Being A Holy Nation

DEPICTS FLIES AS THE 4TH OF TEN PLAGUES AGAINST EGYPT (image is from ISTHATINTHEBIBLE.WORDPRESS.COM)

Today, ancient Egypt, the Exodus, and their lessons for “born again” Christians are in view.  Even for divine revelation, the principles and process of GOD are:  First that that is natural, then, that that is spiritual.  There was a profound demonstration of the wrath of GOD against sin in the form of great upheavals in nature and ten plagues against Egypt long before the Hebrews and those who accompanied Moses were provided with a spiritual standard, the Ten Commandments and covenant relationship with GOD that was to be eternal.  A fighter in the “Yahoo! Answers” forum using the ID “daniel” (Level 2 with 673 points, a member since February 13, 2007) posted the following:

The people of Israel who came out of Egypt are a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. Now born again Christians are so. Do you believe?

God said to Moses: Tell the Israelites, 4 ‘You have seen for yourselves what I did to Egypt. You saw how I carried you on the wings of eagles and brought you to myself. 5 Now obey me completely. Keep my covenant. If you do, then out of all the nations you will be my special treasure. The whole earth is mine. 6 But you will be a kingdom of priests to serve me. You will be my holy nation.’

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,  As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:  If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.  To whom coming, as unto a living stone,  disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,  Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.  Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.  Unto you therefore which believe he is precious:  but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,  And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;  Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God:  which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.  (1st Peter 2:  1-10, King James Version, KJV)

“daniel”, Christian believers, are to understand that they are the lawful heirs of the divine promises made to Adam, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  In the same way Esau, Reuben, Moses, and the line of priests following Aaron lost their standing as the primary heirs and firstborn, and the seven tribes of Canaan who were in covenant with GOD were replaced by Israel as a nation because of their sins and transgression of divine law, Christians are to exist as joint heirs with Jesus Christ, and proclaim the eternal purpose and will of GOD as the new creation, the church, and his peculiar people.

The twelve tribes of Jacob and the mixed multitude (we say, Gentiles) that accompanied them in the exodus from Egypt were acknowledged by divinity as those who are the true caretakers and heirs of the priesthood on the earth modeled after the divine priesthood in heaven that was demonstrated and shared with Adam, carefully preserved and passed on through the Patriarchs, and finally fulfilled through the Incarnation of divinity as Jesus Christ.

The divine process has been one wherein divinity is revealed to be active and present using thousands of sacred events, within thousands of lives, over the course of thousands of years.  Because the eternal purposes and substance of GOD are spirit (we also say, breath, life essence, Word), created beings and living creatures have not always correctly and completely understood and carried out their duties as the agents, representatives. and spokespersons of GOD.  Even so, GOD has continued using mankind as an instrument of sovereign will, for his character, makeup, and nature are to be acknowledged as immutable and unchanging.  In addition to existing as the offspring of GOD and vessels containing divine DNA, so to speak (e.g., faith, gratitude,  holiness, humility, longsuffering, lovingkindness, wisdom and wrath against sin), believers will exercise sacred authority, complete divine works for populating the Holy City (New Jerusalem), and be qualified as witnesses to the righteousness of final judgment against the wicked.  Consider again the following that uses language from the Bible:

(1.)  Colossians 1:  12-20, King James Version (KJV):  12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:  13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:  14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:  15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:  16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers:  all things were created by him, and for him:  17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.  18 And he is the head of the body, the church:  who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.  19 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;  20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

(2.)  1st Corinthians 6:  2-3,  KJV:  2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?  3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

(3.)  Ephesians 2:  13-22, KJV:  13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.  14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;  15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;  16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:  17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.  18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.  19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;  20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;  21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:  22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

There is far more to be said, correctly examined, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (4.)  Romans 8:  5-9, KJV:  5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God:  for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.  9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.
