(05/18/2017) Human Nature, Divine Spirit?

Today, points are shared on mankind as more than “a brain” having physical being in a material world.  Where we agree that humans are more than mere “thinking machines,” it is acceptable to ask, In what way?  More than this, the proposed existence of GOD also requires consideration for such elements as communication with Deity, divine law, sacred process, and eternal purpose.  The fighter at “Yahoo! Why would God give us a brain and then give us a nonsensical bible, then tell us were going to Hell if we don't believe?

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  (2nd Timothy 1:  7, King James Version, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  Convinced/Convicted? (05/16/2017); Tools For Knowing Divinity (05/12/2017); Christianity Is Not Mindless (05/02/2017); Proof That GOD Exists? (10/16/2016); Abstractions, Atheism and I.Q. (08/18/2016); The Rise in Atheism? (07/07/2016); Guided By Divine Truth (06/20/2016)

“va2906”, the problem of defining and knowing “spirit” will be encountered for anyone seeking a full and correct knowledge of mankind.  Many are ignorant and lack sacred knowledge because they refuse to respect such divine tools as the Bible.  Where you will agree that the content of living creatures on the earth is made visible through their multiple abilities, activities, characteristics, skills, and possibilities for expression, it is reasonable to say, mankind is more than simply “a brain.”  Through the operations of “mind”, the living are able to process unbelievable amounts of data and information that include appetite (e.g., hunger, thirst, sexual arousal), emotions (e.g., anger, fear, sorrow), secular knowledge, sensations (e.g., hearing, seeing, tasting, touching), and abstract thought (e.g., measurable dimension, fantasy, imagination, projection).  With this in view, human potential is understood as going beyond mechanical “data processing,” for through the operations of awareness and self-will mankind may repeatedly display an animal, a distinctly human nature, or a godly and spirit-filled nature akin to that attributed to Deity.

Finite academic and mental tools such as intellect, logic, carnal reason, and “critical thinking” have been found inadequate and inappropriate for acquiring and applying the necessary revelation and sacred knowledge that must be imparted by GOD for men to truly know their Creator.  GOD is active presence and “spirit” (we also say, breath, life essence, utterance, word) who expresses and uses such elements as authority, oneness without sameness, ownership, person, purpose, the frameworks of time and space as well as “sovereign will.”   Where deposits of spirit substance from the makeup of GOD reside within created beings and living creatures they all may project the divine spirit and the “image of GOD.”

Sinners who endure the operations spoken of as rebirth (death, burial, and resurrection of the inborn/inbred spirit; renewal having spirit content from GOD through Jesus Christ) are to be understood as sons and daughters, offspring of GOD, and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ, the Son of the Highest.  Because GOD is immortal, incorruptible, and invisible, divinity can only be fully recognized and responded to by operations of ones own endowment of spirit from GOD.  Included must be faith, holiness, hope, longsuffering, lovingkindness, wisdom, and wrath against sin.  Consider the following points from the Bible:

(1.)  John 3:  1-7, King James Version (KJV):  1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:  2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God:  for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.  3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.  4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?  5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

(2.)  John 1:  11-14, KJV:  11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.  12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:  13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.  14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (3.)  Romans 8:  5-9, KJV:  5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God:  for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.  9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.
