(01/19/2013) It Is Finished

THE BATTLE AXE: A Godly Take on Guns (01/18/2013)—Going beyond the surface, the practical issues demanding control for guns and ammunition also entail many important spiritual challenges. Guns and ammunition have become the tools of those who kill, maim and murder, therefore, there must be more focused control of their manufacture and distribution as well as specifications for their legitimate use. Were paper clips and rubber bands to be widely used as life-altering, life-destroying devices, they too would have to come under regulation that could identify and limit those stockpiling, owning and abusing their various privileges under the law. Our private and public lives cannot be held together by a glue of deception, fascination, fear, and idolatry that exalts death, vengeance, and violence. Those committed to Christ are directed to live in mastery over fear, and are given precious promise (see 1st Corinthians 10: 13-15, 2nd Corinthians 10: 3-5, 1st Corinthians 15: 20-26 and 50-57, KJV). Because the very thought of firearms and weapons still triggers fear of death, giants in the Promised Land, and the now fundamental fear that nations cannot survive without an A-bomb, the need for faith and its proper application is now echoing throughout our Nation, like a silent cannon fire. The pursuit of law, nonviolence, order and peace is by no means a “death wish,” or desire for martyrdom. Rather, it is the further petition for eternal life expressed through balance, godliness, humility, love, obedience, respect and sobriety. As a child, I was taught gun safety, marksmanship, and regard for human life. I always expected my Father in heaven would trust me to faithfully serve him with at least three handguns, two shotguns and as many as three automatic weapons. Instead I was given sacred knowledge, testimony and spiritual truth. Because I may not do so legally, in surrender to Christ and to civil law, I do not own any firearms at all; and my defense must be of GOD. There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.
