Today, reply is on the benefits and purposes for divine tests and trials such as the sacrifice of Isaac by Abraham at Mount Moriah. Acts, deeds, and works that appear as religious among men must meet a higher standard of spirit content to be authentic and valid as aspects of relationship with divinity. The spirit meaning, process, substance, and value of ones works must come into view. For many giving is from pride, obedience is from fear, sacrifice is from idolatry and lust for blood, and zeal is from impatience and restlessness. Throughout the holy writings there are accounts where divinity challenges mankind in order to elevate their priesthood, their preparation to receive the Incarnate Christ, the spirit quality of their service, and their own content as offspring and vessels who contain divine substance imparted from the makeup of GOD. Otherwise immeasurable and invisible sacred elements must be present such as commitment, conviction, reverence, righteousness, and trust. Thus it is written: Malachi 3: 13-18, King James Version (KJV): 13 Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Why would a all loving and all knowing God tell Abraham to kill his son Isaac to test his loyalty to God?

If God loves his children why would he tell Abraham to kill his son Isaac who he loved most to test his loyalty?. “Darth Vader”, having experiences of Christian discovery, gradual growth, and the fruits of careful learning, practice, and unselfish service, many mature followers of Jesus Christ discern that the challenge by GOD to Abraham was provided to make visible otherwise hidden and invisible aspects of relationship for created beings and living creatures as companions to divinity. In addition to determining the full depth and range for the measureless dimensions of Abraham’s connection to the Almighty as the “Friend of GOD” what appears at first to be judgment (i.e., assessments; evaluations; tests; trials) are operations by divinity to guide and transform the sacred substance within Abraham, his priesthood as an evangelist and servant to the Most High GOD who built altars and dug wells traveling as a nomad, his family, and all mankind. Abraham was examined for his content of the inseparable aspects of spirit first shared with Adam as life essence (breath; spirit; utterance; word) that must be imparted from GOD for the living to be made fit as a companion to divinity. Included are balance, commitment, faith, holiness, integrity, longsuffering, lovingkindness, oneness without sameness, personhood, righteousness, wisdom, and wrath against sin. Consider again the following that uses language from the Bible and How Great Thou Art, a selection from the music ministry of Wintley Phipps:

Today, reply is on events in the lives of Esau and Jacob as having been in accordance with unseen divine operations, rather than the operations of sin. There are multiple conflicts and differences represented in the figures of Isaac, Rebekah, and their twin boys. Included are the inheritance for nomads could not include houses, land, and real estate; populations existed as tribes, not nations; faith was acknowledged and expressed differently within the households of Abraham and of Laban. Other considerations were the transition to aggressive hunting cultures from those that promote farming and the pastoral keeping of livestock; the divine practice of bestowing both blessing and curses during a single event; covetousness and the use of deceit to acquire and keep a bequest/blessing given by a family member. Events in the life of Esau and Jacob reach across time and space having been grounded in the promises of GOD to Adam and to Abraham. It was only after Jacob was given the blessing from Isaac that Jacob received a vision of angels ascending and descending from GOD. “Anonymous”, the accounts regarding Esau and Jacob do not speak of quarrels about birthright, sibling rivalry and inheritance, nor are they intended to praise the twins as individuals, or report their human achievements and merit. These things detail prophetic demonstrations that pertain to the outworking of divine grace, sacred promises, redemption, and salvation; and are only through the operations of divine will, not the will of mankind. Thus, for Christians, the accounts of Esau and Jacob give a picture of GOD continuing eternal purpose, determining the inheritance of the priesthood that was granted to Adam and to Abraham, exercising divine prerogative, and fulfilling sacred sovereignty. Rather than condemnation by GOD, the focus of sacred knowledge and the major themes in Christian life are to be the display and revelation by GOD of the character and makeup of divinity. Otherwise unknown and unseen features of divine fullness should appear including forgiveness, holiness, longsuffering, love, mercy in judgment for those who are sinners, personhood, wisdom, and wrath against sin as well as unchanging commitment. The Creator has bestowed multiple gifts on Creation that make possible agreement and understanding between immortal, incorruptible, invisible GOD and finite mankind. Many realize their need, and begin their relationships with divinity by turning away from sin and focusing on repentance. In error, they may continue inviting and listening to critics and those who stir feelings of guilt, self-condemnation, inadequacy, and spiritual confusion, rather than the things of new life. Believers are to embrace discovery, gradual growth, learning, study, unselfish service, and suffering. Developing Christian believers are not to continue as members within the church having guilt, punishment, and shame for sin as their primary concerns. Correctly understood, those “born again” are to remain on the earth, and become mature (we also say, grow up again; become ripe) for harvest by Jesus Christ at his appearing. As those containing a fresh endowment of spirit substance imparted from the makeup of GOD, developing Christians are to exist on the earth as the children of GOD, joint-heirs with Jesus Christ, and the new creation. Consider again the following that uses language from the Bible:

“Genius”, in responding to the account of Jacob wrestling with an angel, many mature Christian believers would prayerfully consider the following:

The calling to divine service, sanctification, and separation of Jacob to serve as “the second Adam” began even before Esau, his twin brother, threatened to kill Jacob, and forced Jacob to leave the home of their parents, Isaac and Rebekah. Rebekah had been barren before GOD allowed her to bear the tw0; and while they were still struggling against one another within her womb, GOD indicated that one would prevail, and be used to further reveal divine grace. The Patriarch Isaac was the heir to the priesthood of Abraham. While his sons were both aware that the blessing Isaac would pronounce upon his primary heir would provide a double portion to the one he had chosen (i.e., 2 sons, 3 portions; 12 sons, 13 portions). Prior to the operations by GOD, neither of the twins correctly understood that Isaac’s blessing would be a divine proclamation, and sacred prophecy.

Because our Creator is also a God of judgment, Jacob wrestling with the angel may be thought of as a judgment scene. Divine fullness (we also say, the Godhead; “the active presence;” the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit) appeared and was manifest to Jacob embodied and using the form of an angel. Later, divinity would appear among mankind using flesh and human form (we say, Incarnation) as Jesus Christ. The Savior displayed authentic humanity through birth, gradual growth, ministry, suffering, completing mortality on the cross, and demonstrating the resurrection from the dead that pertains to appearing in the tribunals of judgment. The struggle of Jacob that night, alone in his travels, also portrayed the life of Abraham as a nomad, the testing of Jesus Christ in the wilderness by Satan, and the struggle of Jesus in prayer at Gethsemane.

Like those who become born again through baptism and the operations of the Holy Spirit, Jacob was blessed, received an inheritance, then, had to undergo gradual change and growth before he could acknowledge that the GOD of Abraham and Isaac was also the GOD of Jacob. The following points use language from the Bible:

“Love Unites”, Abraham found grace in the eyes of the Lord.  Adam (the first male and female) were held to be one and a sacred pair before GOD by virtue of their creation.  Abraham and Sarah are to be accounted as one on the basis of their both having been chosen to fulfill eternal purposes that expressed divine prerogative and sovereign will; on the basis of their spiritual joining through marriage; and on the basis of their having received endowments of spirit content from the Creator that allow displaying oneness without sameness.  For Adam and Abraham, marriage was not a man-made or social institution structured by law regarding family and maintained for human survival so much as it continued to be a tool of divine fullness (we say, the Godhead; the Trinity; the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit) for making actual the multiple possibilities of sacred law, divine incarnation, inheritance, judgment, eternal life, and the necessary revelation of GOD to his own created beings and living creatures.  Abraham’s experience of divinity incorporated both prophetic visions and divine visitation.   Abraham was called by GOD to live as a nomad on the earth; and the Patriarch eventually commanded a household that may have numbered thousands, for it included the families of his male servants who also served as an army of more than three hundred.  Everywhere he traveled he dug life-giving wells for water; built altars for sacrifice; continued circumcision and covenant relationship; practiced intercession, praise, and prayer; and demonstrated worship of the true GOD.  Together with Sarah, Abraham was to accomplish a sacred event (miracle), the birth of a firstborn to a barren woman pass the age of fertility.  The birth of Isaac was to be a platform for the birth of Jesus Christ as Messiah.  Consider again the following that uses language from the Bible:

(1.)  Genesis 18:  1-5, King James Version (KJV):  1 And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre:  and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;  2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him:  and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,  3 And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:  4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:  5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on:  for therefore are ye come to your servant. Today, focus is on the account of GOD commanding Abraham to send away his wife Hagar and his son, Ishmael.  Correctly understood, the holy writings focus upon the revelation of divinity through Jesus Christ, and transformation of the earth and all mankind to exist eternally as a new creation, and are not focused upon Arabs, Jews, Isaac, and Ishmael; upon current events and present-day conflicts being reported by the media; or upon the many accounts recorded as secular history.   For Christian believers the active presence of divinity must come into view.  Years before the child Isaac was born and alive upon the earth, GOD declared he would be an instrument for the fulfillment of divine promise and prophecy.  Contrary to the custom of men, the firstborn would not be Abraham’s heir.  In keeping with the divine practice and principle, “the elder shall serve the younger,” the second son would be chosen and promoted as the successor of Abraham.  Many sacred events and divine operations are recorded among the accounts of Abraham that further reveal the authority, forbearance, longsuffering, and righteousness of GOD.  Despite living as a nomad, and not being associated with any single nation or place upon the earth, Abraham is distinguished for being called “the Friend of GOD.”  Abraham was a finite being  upon the earth who maintained a covenant relationship with the Almighty through obedience, priesthood, sanctification, and good works (e.g., building altars; digging wells; leading worship for a  family and household servants that may have numbered in thousands).  The writer at “Yahoo! Answers” using the ID “Katie” (Level 5 with 5,179 points, a member since June 14, 2013) posted the following:

Christians (and, I assume, Jews): Why in the WORLD did God basically tell Abraham to kick out Ishmael and his mom?

My dad (who is a Christian) says that the reason Arabs hate Jews is because Abraham kicked out Ishmael and his mom. According to my dad, Abraham's wife wanted him to do that. Abraham asked God what he should do and God told him to listen to his wife. Why did God say that? He's GOD, so he must have known what it would eventually lead to.

“Katie”, all the accounts of Abraham (the “Friend of GOD”) that appear in the holy writings are intended as further revelation to make the Creator knowable and known to created beings and living creatures.  The denial of Hagar and her son are to be understood as in agreement with specific eternal purposes of GOD before Creation; with the priesthood, proclamations, promises and prophecies established for Adam and continued by the Patriarchs; with the revelation of divinity that includes Deity appearing in flesh as the man, Jesus Christ; and with multiple devices and principles (e.g., birth-order, covenant, dynasty, inheritance) provided by eternal, immutable GOD to be in uninterrupted relationships with men on the earth who are subject to death.  The marriage of Abraham and Sarah was in accordance with divine operations, sacred purposes, and the will of GOD, where the marriage to Hagar was in accordance with desires of the flesh, disbelief, lack of faith in GOD, lack of patience and presumption (i.e., exercising authority without lawful permission; stealing and taking control) through human self-will.  As an Egyptian, Hagar represents spiritual confusion; and the circumcision of her son that established him as having status with GOD along with Abraham his father would always be opposed by his mother being outside of the divine covenant.  Abraham was also required to “give up” his second son Isaac as a sacrifice upon the altar, and was answered by GOD for his demonstration of faith that proclaimed the divine power of resurrection.  Consider again how some of this is stated using language from the Bible:

(1.)  Hebrews 11:  17-19, King James Version (KJV):  17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac:  and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,  18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:  19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.

(2.)  Galatians 3:  16-19, KJV:  16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.  17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.  18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise:  but God gave it to Abraham by promise.  19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

(3.)  Galatians 3:  21-24, KJV:  21 Is the law then against the promises of God? THE BATTLE AXE:  No Divine Protection? (10/02/2014)—(5.)  Christians attract evil only in the same sense that a tree having been placed upon a hilltop draws the wind.  All who live upon the earth must meet challenges, changes and differences, conflicts, and experiences of lack, need and want as the “normal” course of life established among mankind.  Similarly, to become permanently joined to divinity, all Christian believers must endure a measure of the same confusion, doubt, envy, ignorance, malice, persecution, and unbelief that Jesus encountered when he was upon the earth.  Even so, believers are not called into a conflict against material and social reality.  Because all Christian believers participate in a spiritual warfare, all are supplied with weapons that are not carnal (e.g., beauty, certainty, faith, foreknowledge, holy boldness, sobriety).  Granted a defense, justice, and justification that comes from GOD, Christian believers are protected by divine law, continuing fellowship with other believers, the armies of heaven, the promises of GOD, and the imparted, indwelling Spirit.  When commanded to sacrifice Isaac, the son of promise, Abraham was confident that all things are possible for GOD, and that—should Isaac be forced to complete mortality at that time—his son could be immediately restored by the Almighty, whose authority over death is no less than his authority over miraculous birth.  Consider again Psalms 94:  20-23, Psalms 7:  9-11, Proverbs 29:  25, Ecclesiastes 9:  2, Matthew 5:  43-45, 1st Corinthians 10:  13, 2nd Corinthians 10:  3-5, Romans 8:  13-19, 2nd Timothy 2:  11-13, 2nd Timothy 3:  12, Titus 2:  11-13 and 1st Thessalonians 4:  12-14, KJV.

“Political Onlooker”, readers of the holy writings are to discern (i.e., use their own divine spirit content) to recognize and respond to the Holy Spirit contained within the Scriptures.  The carnal, material and social language expressions that appear often are only an indictor or suggestion for ones full spiritual understanding.  With that in view, consider these few points:

(1.)  In our courts upon the earth, the work of a judge, no matter the facts of a case, is to ensure that the procedures applied in judgment are all in accordance with the demands of written law.  Similarly, the role of judge for Jesus Christ is that of continuing divine order and life process in accordance with pre-established sacred law.  In the final judgment, Jesus does not alter, or contend against the awareness and self-will of angels, devils or humans (we say, argue, debate, dispute).  Christ acknowledges and affirms truth established by the living, and documented within divine books of life.

(2.)  The eternal purpose of GOD is not one of sending men to hell.  Yet, by their rejection of spirit content from GOD, men disqualify themselves from being eternal companions who may abide in the presence of GOD.  In judgment, Jesus and all assembled to witness will acknowledge and affirm the righteousness that has been displayed through a person’s willful choice, spirit content, and record of spiritual truth.  It will be such predetermined, impartial factors that “send” one to hell.

(3.)  So to speak, divine authority to alter the books of life is in effect only while a person is alive, and occurs through their own attitudes, actions, and life choices.  As they respond to the influence of the gospel and the imparted, indwelling Spirit from GOD, believers “apply” the blood of atonement shed by Jesus at the cross, that blots out the record of sin without erasing truths from life experiences and good works.

There is far more to be said, correctly understood, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (4.)  Christian believers must acquire a totally new understanding of deity and divinity that proceeds from the fullness of GODhead, and not merely from human intellect, logic, mathematics, reason, and science.  The nature of divine authority and power are very different than our concepts that center in coercion, force and pressure to achieve desire and self-will.  The necessary change begins through acceptance of the gospel, and baptism (death of ones inborn spirit, rebirth from divine content).   Once born again, the believer must “grow up” again and mature, enduring the “growing pains” and challenges of life upon the earth.  The ongoing transformation of believers to being immortal and incorruptible will be completed at the coming of Jesus.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

Asked to be a godparent but don't want to be? 

The baptism is for my niece and nephew . At the time i felt obliged to say yes, but now i realize i dont even want to go to the baptism let alone be a godparent. The baptism is this Sunday, i dont know what to do now. I am not even a religious person in fact i cant stand it ( no offence intended ) Most of my family are religious though. I dont think it be right either for me being none believer to be a godparent, and i think it be unfair on my niece and nephew.

“Andrew”, even reading and responding to questions here at “Yahoo! Answers” is a dangerous and difficult task that many only respond to willingly because they accept it as their duty from GOD.  Here are a few points I hope you will find helpful that may make a positive difference for your life as a Christian:

(1.)  When Jesus and his apostles had completed their last Passover meal together with the initiation of the Lord’s Supper and the ordinance of foot washing, the Savior became overwhelmed with the thought of his ministry on earth being ended by the cross.  When they went to the place where they were to be encamped for the night, Jesus approached the Father in prayer to ask that his death be delayed.  Jesus had reached and would have to endure an emotional, psychological, and spiritual agony that we now refer to as a “Gethsemane point.”  Is that where you are?

(2.)  Duty and service to GOD are not a matter of ones ability apart from GOD, ambition, experience, personal pleasure, self-promotion, skill, or talent.  There are things a believer must do—like it, don’t like it—that absolutely must be carried out.  While completing our sacred duty may provide special benefit to family, friends and loved ones, the simple tasks we are challenged to carry out often pertain to maintaining divine order for earth, heaven, and the entire universe as well as the continuum of eternity. 

(3.)  Born again, all believers must “grow up” again by meeting life challenges upon the earth.  Believers are encouraged, instructed, and supplied to answer one another with love (we say, unselfish surrender), and respond to GOD with total commitment.  Examples from Isaac quietly waiting upon an altar to be struck by his father Abraham to that of Jesus at Calvary demonstrate the maturity we are to acquire wherein we obey and discharge duty no matter the cost (we say, the sacrifice, the suffering).

There is far more to be said, correctly understood, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (4.)  Asked to be accountable, asked to be responsible, asked to be shown up by the many other people whom you account more worthy than yourself, asked to take the risk of being more than just a bystander, pride makes most of us hesitate.  The “hero” in a crisis is a person who was committed to doing their best before the emergency, or need for special assistance appeared.  Where believers refuse to participate or share in any given role of ministry, it always should be only because it would damage or interrupt their other ongoing commitments to GOD.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

(06/05/2014)—(5.)  Blessing upon their offspring was uttered by the Patriarchs as their last words prior to their decease, and were received as their final acts in the role as prophets and spokespersons for GOD.  Such statements often characterized and described the inward nature of the heir(s), and thereby served to admonish, caution, command, direct, and warn.  Because the blessings were taken to be predictions of human events, rather than proclamations of divine intent, and the forthcoming operations of divinity, many clear statements of prophecy became clouded, personalized, and veiled.  As types, Ishmael and Esau are figures of Nimrod, the hunter, who founded the first kingdom with Babel, later called Babylon.  Abraham is the figure of those who seek a city whose builder and maker is GOD.  Through Abraham mankind receives an inheritance of fellowship with GOD grounded in faith that is distinct from the inheritance of divine law, expiation, and obedience.  Thereby the status of Israel becomes one as the firstborn among nations, and a son to GOD.  Through the errors of first Cain and later Reuben, as well as by the service of Joseph to Egypt (the Gentile), divine inheritance was transformed to no longer be reckoned according to birth order and genealogy.  Every aspect of human experience is recorded as having been applied in the revelation of divinity through salvation for mankind.  Included are birth, death, disinheritance, reproduction, learning, growth, and change.  Created beings and living creatures have witnessed flesh transformed through promise (divine word), and union with Spirit.   See Genesis 10:  8-10, Genesis 22:  20, Exodus 4:  23, 1st Chronicles 5:  1-2, Jeremiah 31:  1-13, Hebrews 11:  9-10, Hebrews 11:  20-21 and Galatians 3:  22-31, KJV.

“Bevan”, where you have an honest desire to know the truth taught by Jesus Christ, here are a few points that should be useful as you continue to learn more about Christian belief, and why Christians judge others:

(1.)  When GOD revealed himself to Moses, he explained that he is a GOD of judgment, so to speak.  See again Exodus 33:  11-23 and 34:  1-8,  KJV.

(2.)  GOD is a spirit who has put forth (we say, created) various living creatures, the conditions for their continued existence, and the spheres wherein they are maintained.  GOD interacts with, and reveals active presence through operations applying word (we say, breath, spirit, utterance).  In addition to creation, GOD is made known to sentient beings (i.e., those having awareness) through such life process as birth, death, judgment, proclamation, promise, prophecy, and sanctification.

(3.)  Through baptism (death of their inborn nature, rebirth having divine DNA, so to speak), every Christian believer is to acquire the same spirit matter from the makeup of eternal GOD that appeared in Jesus Christ.  Included are inseparable aspects of divinity such as faith, forbearance, forgiveness, holiness, humility, longsuffering, love, truthfulness, wisdom, and wrath against sin.  However, born again, all must “grow up” again (we say, mature, become perfected) by facing life challenges and duties in the earth.

(4.)  Those serving GOD also participate in the divine judgment of all that is.  Believers serve in various roles including advocates, officers of the court (e.g., bailiffs, marshals, executioners), mediators, and petitioners.  Therefore it is not that men may not judge, it is that human judgment is not lawful and righteous as an expression of divine will apart from the fullness of GOD that goes beyond finite intellect, logic, reason, and science.

There is far more to be said, correctly understood, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (5.)  Judgment is the resolution of conflict and the settlement of disputes through law.  The otherwise formal and mechanical process of comparing and weighing truth against a published standard is made “personal” through the appointment of an impartial judge, who is capable of compassion and empathy.  Mercy is a rubric of judgment not of affection, emotion and love; therefore, those who seek to obtain mercy first must submit themselves to judgment.).  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith, meekness, and readiness to receive the promise of the Father and Pentecost.

Differences among and between covenants, roles and service by the descendants of Abraham are the focus, today.  A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “Stephen Glansberg” (Level 1 with 7 points, a member since May 19, 2014) posted the following:


Why does the Bible say God blessed Abraham's descendants but Arabs(via Ishmael) have never been blessed?

“Stephen Glansberg”, may I share the following points from the perspective of a Christian believer:

(1.)  Both Isaac and Ishmael are blessed through Abraham, however, neither their blessings nor their inheritance are the same.  Both sons are circumcised, and marked as being in covenant with GOD.  However, Isaac is accounted as the first born and primary heir to whom is given the double portion.  The primary son is supplied to complete the unfinished business of the deceased, and to serve as a living memorial to his name.

(2.)  Jacob and Esau are to be seen in the same way as Isaac and Ishmael.  Both are blessed, however, the greater portion is to Jacob; and pertains to the spiritual promises of GOD, not simply to their prosperity and material wealth.  Given the indifference of Esau to his birthright concerning things of the spirit, he became disqualified as the next Patriarch and the bearer of priesthood from heaven that was bestowed upon Adam, and continued in Abraham.

(3.)  The nation of Israel is identified as a “firstborn” son to GOD, and thus is marked to serve in a divine plan for the full recovery of mankind from sin.  Israel was to be an incarnation of GOD, and the social vehicle to introduce and establish Messiah in the earth.

There is a lot more to be said, correctly understood, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (4.)  Careful study shows the process of GOD follows a clear pattern.  Thus, the covenants through Moses are reinforced in David from the tribe of Judah, rather than in Saul of Benjamin.  Terms are introduced wherein covenant expression by GOD, and divine law for created beings and living creatures are shown to have been temporal, and must become elevated as immutable, perpetual, spiritual and unchanging.).  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith, meekness, and readiness to receive the promise of the Father and Pentecost.
