(12/31/2012) Will GOD Bless My Team?

Whether GOD responds to prayer asking victory for competing athletes, and more on the perfection of the law are topics, today. The “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “Oscar Manuel Perez” (Level 3 with 1,920 points, a member since April 9, 2011) posted the following:

May God bless Dallas Cowboys, my team. LOL, will you pray for me, lol?

THE BATTLE AXE: The Law Not Flawed (12/30/2012)—In the terms of its unique purpose, the law is perfect, and accomplishes every aspect of its divine intent (Romans 7: 12, KJV). The law only fails where we ask from the law what the law has not been designed to do. While the divine law is an inheritance for the people of GOD that establishes a level of security, the law does not automatically bestow real property (land), social position, and worldly wealth. Those who are accounted as faithless or godless may usually also be regarded as lawless. The law cannot eliminate sin; however the law may illuminate and make the presence of sin known where sin would be otherwise invisible. Law does not control and influence where the carnal mind has dominion; for the carnal mind consists of mechanical operations of the flesh (such as appetite, imagination, sensation, and fantasy), and is not subject to the Spirit of GOD (see Romans 8: 5-14, KJV). Thus, in accordance with the Gospel, the law of GOD is for those sinners seeking change, repentance and the righteousness of GOD (1st Timothy 8-10, KJV), and provides guidance as a standard of correction, rather than a rod for condemnation and punishment.

THE GOLDEN ARROW: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8: 28, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: Why No Answer? (08/25/2012); GOD Does Exist (03/20/2012); Idols of Flesh (03/12/2012); The Work of Jesus (03/13/2012); Gangs? (12/02/2010)

You will probably find the answer from mature Christians to be somewhat disappointing. Blessings from GOD are provided so that believers may carry out and perform divine intent; and divine blessing pertains to spiritual rebirth, growth, and perfection of Creation. As with human warfare and struggle on the battlefield of blood, GOD is active and present during athletic competitions through the commitment and faith of the individuals that make up the units in conflict, the team or sports organization. The depth of each man’s personal relationship with GOD will shape his attitude, his effort, his obedience to coaching, and his being in sync with others.

The answers of GOD to prayer for victory may be seen in the healing of injury, or that participants may bring to the game soundness of body and clarity of mind. Even so, the divine purposes focus upon the forgiveness of sin, the revelation of divine person, and the sanctification of both heaven and earth. A divine judgment is now in process that does not focus on human behavior and conduct, or how men entertain themselves in the earth through the flesh. The Gospel of Jesus Christ exhibits the standard for the searching of our lives; and the emphasis is upon the divine content of ones spirit, rather than diet and foods, sexual behavior, and verbal exchanges. The imparted, indwelling Spirit of GOD is not a spirit of combativeness and competition. The church and kingdom of GOD are built up and edified only by a holy spirit of cooperation.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, many say “luck” favors those who are well prepared. GOD favors those who are dutiful, faithful, holy, obedient, reverent, righteous, and wise. To the extent the games center in covetousness, ego, pride, and self-promotion, the games must be understood as idolatry, ungodliness and whoredom.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

(12/30/2012) The Law Not Flawed

I have been prompted to think about the law again, its purpose and benefit; and there is more on redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ. A reply was posted at thoughts.com commenting on (12/27/2012) Hellfire and Brimstone Preaching? The writer, “SeasonedBeginner” stated the law was flawed, and only those blind to the freedom and hope brought by Christ in the New Covenant continue to be judgmental. “Justice” has been mercifully replaced with forgiveness. My initial response appears below:

Honor to GOD! The law was not so much flawed as our understanding and acceptance of the law. Thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not commit adultery should still be in effect—and you need not go to Newtown to ask how sound such thinking would be for a righteous God and his people. The law, itself, is a manifestation of divinity, and is not easily embraced using only tools of the flesh such as seeing, hearing, smelling and tasting. The death and resurrection of Christ was not to eliminate divine judgment and wrath against sin; rather, to certify Jesus as a righteous judge. Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts. Enjoy the rest of the holidays.

THE BATTLE AXE: Purchased With Blood? (12/29/2012)—The ministry of Jesus to mankind is comprehensive, and still is being carried out both upon the earth, and from heaven. While for many, being covered by the blood of Jesus signifies atonement, or remission and propitiation for sins, rather than redemption, the blood of Jesus overspreads all the levels of divine process and sacred purpose. Included are birth, death, judgment, promise, prophecy, and sanctification. Although believers speak of experiencing GOD through divine history, infrequent episodes, and discrete events, the operations of GOD are all eternal, inseparable, open-ended, and progressive. Thus, redemption cannot be separated from salvation, and the two equally entail cleansing, forgiveness, rebirth, repentance, and sacrifice.

THE GOLDEN ARROW: I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me. My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness. Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts. I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight. Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me. I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments. (Psalms 119: 172-176, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: Vows and Covenants? (12/17/2012); Christians Who Ignore GOD’s Laws (10/25/2012); The Crux of the Matter (10/26/2012); Violence In The Bible (02/26/2012); Why Confess Before Priest (02/27/2012); Trouble For The Good (01/15/2012); Chain Of Command (01/16/2012); Free From Law? (11/03/2010); Love a Choice? (11/04/2010)

The law of GOD has never been a weapon against goodness, love, obedience, respect, or truth; yet, many complain against the law as an attack upon “freedom”; an unnecessary burden of obligation; an unholy instrument that generates despair, fear, shame and terror; and an obstacle to the full integrity and legitimacy of created beings and living creatures.

The divine purposes of law include creating and maintaining order among a broad and diverse assembly of sentient beings that possess self-will. Just as the law is to reveal and make known the will of Almighty GOD, the law is to make known and visible an immaterial and unseen presence that is sin. For most, knowledge of the law is by faith, rather than by detailed and exacting study of every ordinance or statute. The benefits and blessing of law are a foundation for the security of the universe, for the law fosters and imparts balance, comfort, continuity, joy, hope, peace, stability, strength, wisdom, and eternal life.

In the kingdom of GOD, punishment and death are not the outcomes of obeying law, performing sacred duty, sharing love, or speaking holy truth; and the covenant law provided to establish a righteous nation in the earth was not given with an intent to increase human misery. The damage and threat that results from sin was first identified among the holy angels. When divine law was extended to mankind upon the earth, this was in the nature of admonition, restoration, and salvation. All law is not spoken in a language of prohibition (thou shalt not); and, rightly understood, it is law that commands the existence of all benefit. Law is a form of Light, and there is no flaw in light or in the Light-Giver. Only those who seek to abide in darkness fear and hate the light.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, sin does not exist as a being or thing created by GOD. Anguish, death, and pain absolutely must appear as alarms against sin, and there must be knowledge that works to limit the damage that comes by sin. The overwhelming threat posed by sin cannot be realized without spiritual power, divine instruction, and immediate consequences in living experience. Sin opposes the existence of divine law, of divine person, and of divine Creation.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

(12/29/2012) Purchased With Blood?

Redemption and the Holy Spirit are topics, today.  The “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “Alex” (Level 2 with 460 points, a member since October 19, 2012) posted the following:

Christians, why does the Bible say God 'bought' the church with his own 'blood'?
Acts 20:28 tells us, “Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.”
Who bought the church—the church of God—with His own blood?

THE BATTLE AXE:  The Dove (12/28/2012)—The standard of the dove signifying peace is lifted up for the kingdom of heaven in contrast to the ensign of the Roman eagle, a bird of prey, that signals conquest, destruction and war.  Like John the Baptist, mature Christian believers proclaim the kingdom, and are endowed with the Holy Spirit (also called the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, and the Spirit of Prophecy).  As one continually nourished by holy offerings, sacrifices and tithes, and who continued upon holy ground until carried to serve as a herald and witness in the wilderness, the Prophet John acknowledged the consecration of Jesus as High Priest, his anointing as king (Messiah), public recognition of his claim as heir to Adam, Abraham, and David (the Son of man) as well as divine confirmation that Jesus is the Son of GOD.  The appearance of the dove as the voice sounded from heaven was in the nature of jubilation, proclamation, revelation, and testimony in judgment.  All the spirit-persons of the GODhead are present in the scene; and each affirms the authority and fullness of the others.  These things were exposed to the Prophet allowing him to identify Jesus as “the Lamb of GOD” to those who had been prepared to become the first followers of Christ.  (See John 5:  33-38, John 1:  29-37 and 1st John 5:  6-12, KJV.)

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  And it shall be, when Jehovah shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanite, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee,  that thou shalt set apart unto Jehovah all that openeth the womb, and every firstling which thou hast that cometh of a beast; the males shall be Jehovah’s.  And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break its neck:  and all the first-born of man among thy sons shalt thou redeem.  And it shall be, when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand Jehovah brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:  and it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that Jehovah slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both the first-born of man, and the first-born of beast:  therefore I sacrifice to Jehovah all that openeth the womb, being males; but all the first-born of my sons I redeem.  (Exodus 13:  11-15, American Standard Version)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  The Price of Humanity? (12/13/2012); Remembering the Holocaust (12/14/2012); More Than Salvation (11/27/2012); The Slave to Law and Sin Made Free (11/16/2012); Lawful Divorce (11/17/2012); Divine Self-Sacrifice? (09/30/2012); Jesus Our “Advocate” (08/16/2012); Girdle 14:  Reasonable Service (11/29/2011); Why Sacrifice? (10/13/2010); Appetite (10/14/2010)

More than merely saving believers in judgment from their sentence of damnation, the birth, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ establishes eternal life through redemption.   Redemption is the provision of divine covenant that allows things dedicated, offered in prayer, and promised to GOD (e.g., oneself, ones firstborn, donkeys, goats, sheep, oxen) to be recovered from the altar of GOD.  All living things delivered to the altar (a holy table that serves as a point where heaven and earth are joined) must be sanctified, sacrificed, and salted (i.e., washed, set apart, slain, and transferred to GOD through holy fire that accomplishes cleansing, judgment and lifting).  The redeemed are recovered from the altar to continue in service as living sacrifices.  Those that cannot be used in sacred service and worship, that would defile and profane the altar when offered, and where no redemption price has been paid (say a mule), the neck is broken, and it is destroyed.

That Jesus Christ may bestow eternal life to those that are his by their “saving purchase” is a fulfillment of divine law, promise, and prophecy, and constitutes lawful redemption.  The provision of redemption again displays the law as righteous, and in agreement with the mercy found in judgment.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, less mature Christian believers tend to oversimplify the truths of redemption and salvation, ignore them altogether, or lump them together as though one is no greater than another.  It remains, the devotion, gratitude, obedience, thoroughness and zeal of believers will vary according to their right knowledge and understanding.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

(12/28/2012) The Dove

The dove as a symbol in Scripture, and more on hellfire and brimstone preaching are shared, today. The “Yahoo! Answers” Top Contributor using the ID “Camille” (Level 7 with 142,088 points, a member since March 18, 2009) posted the following:

Why is the dove often used as a symbol for the Holy Spirit?

THE BATTLE AXE: Hellfire and Brimstone Preaching? (12/27/2012)—Many traditions of charismatic and impassioned preaching (often called “shouting”) are practiced in the churches, to this very day. Hellfire preaching is thought to be from the prophets, specifically John the Baptist (a voice crying in the wilderness), rather than from the more intimate pastoral ministry of Jesus Christ, who shared as a healer, judge, miracle worker, and teacher. The New Testament writings from the Apostles of Jesus emphasize prophecy (comfort, edification, exhortation), and describe their preaching as primarily invitation, testimony and “eye witness.” In Islam, the role of an apostle is to “threaten and warn;” and we often see this today as the fomenting of jihad (holy war). Scholars frequently trace the hellfire tradition in the United States to early America and a sermon by the missionary, pastor and theologian, Jonathan Edwards (“Sinners in the Hand of an Angry God,” 1741). The evangelist, Billy Sunday (1862-1935), is often spoken of as having been a modern era hellfire preacher. He is said to have preached to as many as 100 million people face-to-face without the aid of electronic sound systems, radio or TV. Newspapers often published his full sermons. Sunday’s preaching of the temperance message gave support to Prohibition, and is believed to have contributed heavily to adoption of the 18th Amendment of the U. S. Constitution in 1919. While hellfire preaching was believed necessarily dramatic and graphic to instill “the fear of GOD,” it has often been criticized as overly simplistic, and labeled as emotionalism. Identified with conservative Christianity, and labeled as “fundamentalism”, hellfire preaching supports a behavioral understanding of sin whereby various popular behaviors should be condemned. Thus, hellfire preaching usually denounces fornication and sexual sin along with such popular middle-class amusements as athletic competition on days of worship, attending the theater, dancing, drinking, gambling, playing cards, reading novels, and swearing. Proclamations for those in the public forum, may be very different than messages in congregation. Even so, in addition to strong temperance messages, biblical preaching that properly highlights advent, apocalypse, death, divine law, judgment, resurrection, and end-times prophecy are all generally regarded as hellfire preaching. Many believers simply continue to regard both the content and style for all genuine preaching as having sacred origin, and carried out as the Holy Spirit gives utterance (see Acts 2: 14-40, King James Version).

THE GOLDEN ARROW: Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you. (Matthew 10: 16-20, King James Version)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: Spirit Matter (10/21/2012); Caesarea Philippi (10/22/2012); Visions of Heaven (03/22/2012); Does GOD Need Worship? (03/23/2012); Binder 16: GOD Inhabits Praise (10/13/2011); Binder 9: Commitment to Being (10/06/2011)

The dove first appears in the Bible through an account of divine judgment against sin. Mature Christian believers accept the dove bearing an olive leaf as a visible expression of the divine intent that mankind should be in a continuing relationship with the Creator characterized by grace, longsuffering, mercy, divine nourishment, peace, and prosperity (Genesis 8: 8-11, KJV). As a silent servant marked by innocence and prayer (white feathers), swift, winged and bearing comfort from GOD, the dove depicts a unique holy messenger that is different from the angels, who appear as flaming ministers (Psalms 104: 4 and Hebrews 1: 6-8, KJV).

Very early, the dove became associated with the sacred themes of deliverance, rest, wisdom and witness. Thus, the prophet David employed the figure of a dove in hymns, worship liturgy, and prayer (e.g., Psalms 55: 6 and 68: 13, KJV). A later prophet, John the Baptist, would be given a testimony and witness that Jesus is to be acknowledged as One Sent, and the Son of GOD (Matthew 3: 13-17 and John 1: 1-37, KJV). From before his birth, John had been divinely prepared, and was built up through the Holy Spirit to discern and recognize the agents and operations of GOD in the earth. The earliest mention of the Holy Spirit in the Scriptures is as the active force of GOD at Creation (Genesis 1: 1-3, KJV).

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, doves (also called turtle doves) were used in divining (ceremonies and rituals to receive guidance from GOD) as well as for offerings and sacrifices by those in poverty who could not offer a lamb, goat, or bullock. Gentle, harmless and lowly, the dove, like the paschal lamb, is a type of Christ (1st Corinthians 5: 7, KJV). Therefore, atonement, intercession and mediation come into view attributed to Messiah and the Holy Spirit, rather than to any finite living creature.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

(12/27/2012) Hellfire and Brimstone Preaching?

The importance of divine wrath and sacred knowledge to spirit-filled preaching is considered, today. Also, there is more on the spirit of man as the candle of GOD. The Yahoo Answers” writer using the ID “Jack Covie” (Level 1 with 20 points, a member since December 20, 2012) posted the following:

Why are so many spineless Christians today preaching about love and peace and not about God's wrath?

What happened to hellfire and brimstone preaching?

I grew up in Tennessee in the 1950s. Back then the preachers were fiery men of passion. They didn't try to be politically correct. They weren't afraid to offend people. They said without hesitation that if you die without God you will be sent to hell to burn forever. No ifs ands or buts. But today you have fools preaching about love, and God does love everyone, but he also has vengeful side that will strike you fools down.

THE BATTLE AXE: Candles of GOD? (12/26/2012)—Almighty GOD uses the spirit of man both to see (i.e., identify the nuances within human makeup), and to be seen (i.e., reveal himself). In such examination and judgment, behavior and conduct are not the focus of GOD so much as the presence of specific aspects of divine substance that make a person fit to be in communion and have fellowship with GOD as well as to fulfill prophecy, to receive spiritual increase, and to perform sacred service. The purpose of judgment, then, is not destruction and punishment so much as appreciation (assigning right value), correction, making the most effective use of spiritual resources, and providing maximum sacred benefits. While sin has appeared as an influence upon the will of created beings and living creatures, sin does not directly control and manipulate ones spirit content. The focus and power of spirit continually changes, however, the makeup of human spirit is constant, and presents as both animal and divine expression. The divine nature may be permanently amplified, concentrated or reconfigured through death, prophecy, rebirth, and sanctification.

THE GOLDEN ARROW: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2nd Peter 1: 2-8, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: Love in Christ (10/23/2012); Unconditional Love (03/28/2012); On Properly Setting Our Sights (03/29/2012); Justice Comes by Love? (10/01/2012); A Daily Revelation (10/02/2012); Girdle 28: Grounded In Love (12/13/2011); Girdle 7: Gateways (11/22/2011); Binder 38: Everlasting Kindness (11/04/2011)

Many mature Christian believers agree that “hell fire and brimstone” preaching centers in emotion, feeling, the flesh, and the law, rather than in the person of Jesus, the many sacred purposes of GOD, the work of spreading the Gospel, or the changes and choices one must make in order to receive the Holy Ghost. The imparted, indwelling spirit from GOD (also called the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit of Prophecy), establishes divinity within the believer that otherwise exists only in Divine Person. Included are balance, holy boldness, hope, faith, joy, longsuffering, love, piety, righteousness, truth, wisdom, and wrath against sin. (These aspects of divine content are inseparable, such that, where one appears, all are present.)

Wrath against sin is not a temporary feature describing divine displeasure. Manifest as the law and truth, wrath makes sin known to created beings and living creatures. Sin is no carnal, material, physical or social “thing.” Sin, that first appeared among the angels, and was made visible through behavior, has not been created by GOD, and may not be eliminated simply by changing ones conduct. Sin opposes the existence of divine being, divine law, and the entire Creation of GOD. Wrath is a permanent aspect of divine being, and should not be confused with human anger, temper, and rage that comes and goes as a disposition or mood. Wrath pertains to sacred processes such as death, judgment, resurrection, and sanctification.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, fear of the Lord (awe) and wrath against sin are not the same, yet the two are one (i.e., complements). Believers are called to acquire sacred knowledge, and to operate with full awareness of divine grace. Faith and feeling are to be in balance with reason; for thereby, the whole person of Christ is displayed: both he who overturned the tables of the money changers in the Temple having a scourge in his hands, and he who wept over Jerusalem.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

(12/26/2012) Candles of GOD?

The Holy Spirit, the human spirit, and the place of mankind in judgment are topics, today. No BATTLE AXE appears. A “Yahoo! Answers” Top Contributor using the ID “daughtereponymous” (Level 7 with 26,793 points, a member since May 18, 2010) posted the following:

Prov.20:27 states we are the CANDLES of G-D who is the FLAME and how do we light it ?

THE GOLDEN ARROW: The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light. (Luke 11: 32-36, King James Version)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: The Focus of Judgment (12/09/2012); His Burden is Light (12/10/2012); The “Lake of Mercy” (11/03/2012); Seeking and Being Sought (11/04/2012); Life and Death (09/26/2012); Mob Rule and Violence (09/27/2012); A Reborn Heart (02/26/2011); GOD Commanded? (02/27/2011); Divine Light (10/04/2010); The Fall Of Adam (10/05/2010)

In that particular Scripture, and throughout the Holy Bible, the “spirit of man” is spoken of as an instrument and tool used by GOD to fulfill divine purposes. Sacred themes and the divine ownership of mankind and all Creation are documented through human events, yet, rather than human concepts of effort, freedom, pleasure, self-promotion, and self-will, the compassion, righteousness and sovereignty of GOD are proclaimed. The crafting, lighting and quenching of the candle is through operations of the Divine Person, that include death, rebirth and anointing by the Holy Ghost.

The Proverb can be understood as restating the sacred truth that GOD is an eternal and righteous judge, and acknowledges the revelation to Moses and all mankind (Exodus 19: 17 through 20: 1-6, KJV; Exodus 33: 12-23 through 34: 1-8, KJV). Made in the image of GOD, we repeatedly fail to respond to one another properly, because humanity also describes many features that are barely recognizable, invisible, and unseen without the peculiar levels of discernment and vision provided through the imparted, indwelling spirit from GOD.

The Holy Spirit (also called the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit of Prophecy) may add to and alter ones inner makeup; however, the Spirit does not conceal, counterfeit, falsify or replace the human spirit. The human potential for containing sacred content (such as faith, holiness, law, longsuffering, wisdom, and wrath against sin), displaying the divine nature, and expressing eternal divinity is brought to greater heights through the ministries of Jesus that provide learning, nourishment, sacramental practice, and spiritual growth.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, in addition to judgment, throughout the holy writings, burning and fire pertain to deep cleansing and purging. Sanctification is not a “one-time” event; and continues in the life of a believer as the experience of being set apart for association with GOD, and for high service to the Almighty that may include childbearing, marriage, martyrdom, and preaching.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

(12/25/2012) Without The Noise of Battle

Various appearances of divine person, judgment, law and sanctification are topics; however, only a BATTLE AXE and a GOLDEN ARROW are presented, today. Be blessed as you, your family, friends and other loved ones claim and receive the hope, joy and salvation from GOD through Jesus Christ.

      Merry Christmas, 2012!

THE BATTLE AXE: About the Star? (12/24/2012)—In the full declaration of sacred truth regarding the birth of Jesus, many mature believers also understand the star that appeared in the East, moved steadily westward, and finally beamed from above the inn at Bethlehem was not an angelic being (the angels are called “stars” in Revelation 1: 20 and 12: 3-5, KJV). This visible feature of the night sky was an appearance of divine person, as was the guardian to the tree of life (Genesis 3: 24, KJV) who stood with flaming sword, the cherubim bowing in obeisance before the holy ark and seat of justice (Exodus 25: 22 and Numbers 7: 89, KJV), and the pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night (Exodus 13: 20-22, KJV) that hovered above the tribes of Jacob in their wandering. The star of the shepherds and wise men pertains to the continuing revelation of GOD to all Creation and mankind, and specially serves to further prepare all for the advent and appearance of Christ in full supernal glory (Ezekiel 43: 2, Matthew 24: 25-31 and Luke 9: 26, KJV).

THE GOLDEN ARROW: For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. (Isaiah 9: 5-7, KJV)

THE BATTLE AXE: The True Miracle (12/23/2012)—Christmas is celebrated as a time of social healing. Family gatherings provide unique opportunities for exchange, intimacy and sharing of emotional and psychological gifts that include affection, attention, companionship, forgiveness, reconciliation, and respect. To their parents, their caretakers, and teachers children still embody and symbolize angels, freedom, the future, goodness, happiness, innocence, and youth. For this reason, the true miracle of Christmas often seems exclusively intended for children. Exaggerations and misreading of Scripture can result in devastating idolatry and inordinate promotion of children (e.g., Psalm 127: 3 and James 1: 27, KJV). Given that children respond as flexible and teachable even when complex doctrines are introduced, the message of new life through Christ often is more quickly and correctly embraced by children. Our duty to love as sons and daughters of GOD is discharged only in part through children, family, friends and parents (Luke 6: 20-38, KJV). There also must be acceptance and commitment to GOD and Christ, the Holy Spirit, the host of heaven, with believers (and nonbelievers) everywhere. Celebrating a finite miracle of birth and the wonder of new life is not to be confused with divine grace and the eternal miracle of Christmas—new relationship to GOD for all mankind through Jesus Christ (Luke 2: 11-14 and John 1: 1-14, KJV).

THE GOLDEN ARROW: For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (2nd Peter 1: 16-21, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: The True Miracle (12/23/2012); Origins (01/20/2011); The Wise Men? (12/21/2010); Melchizedek? (12/22/2010); Things? (11/13/2010); Mealtime Grace (11/14/2010)

Don’t be confused or distracted by the complexity and sophistication of today’s technology (fiber optics, GPS, satellite tracking, etc.). True, it often seems impossible to do without the man-made devices that are so impressive now, that did not exist then. However, the birth of Jesus was through an operation of Almighty GOD that embraced and employed all the various levels of existence. The birth of Jesus demonstrated divine authority over all Creation. Included were angelic beings, domestic animals and human beings; the emotions, motives, and thoughts of the living as well as clouds, darkness, light, wind, the sun, moon and stars.

Correctly understood, GOD is a spirit, and cannot be described as having dimensions (e.g., depth, height, weight, width), form, human characteristics, shape and physical limits. The impossible appearance of GOD in human form as a baby must be accepted and understood as something brought to pass by a sovereign Person having absolute power, and unimpeachable righteousness. Faith, an aspect of the full makeup of GOD, must reside within those who believe, and operate upon and through human awareness before one may exist as a believer in sacred truth from GOD. Faith is divine substance and is inseparable from such other content as holiness, humility, righteousness, wisdom, and wrath against sin.

Initially, those we now call “wise men” (this may include the shepherds) were motivated like Moses, who took a break from his work to see a bush that burned without giving off ashes, or smoke (Exodus 3: 1-3, KJV). Simple curiosity, and other human reactions such as challenge, fear, pride and surprise were probably involved at the start. Continuous study of astronomy, current events and the holy writings influenced their thinking. As they gradually yielded to conviction, they acquired necessary levels of confidence, persistence and trust through increasing faith, just as we, today, must do.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, in those times evil—catastrophe, sudden and widespread change, upheaval)—was associated with the birth of conquering monarchs (see Isaiah 45: 7, KJV). Natural events such as comets, earthquakes, floods and meteor showers were carefully examined as being prophetic signs, and evidences that GOD, in fact, was active, fulfilling things proclaimed and promised through his word.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

(12/23/2012) The True Miracle

The proper focus for celebrating Christmas and our “holy” days is considered. Also, there is more on whether Jesus knew he would be resurrected after crucifixion. The “Yahoo Answers” writer using ID “Sheila” (a Level 5 Top Contributor with 6,473 points, and member since April 24, 2009) posted the following:

Will you be seeing the true miracle of Christmas this year as you look into the eyes of your own children?

Will you shed a tear of gratitude?
Are you getting a magic feeling welling up within your heart?
If you don’t have kids … will you feel nostalgic memories about your own childhood?
Don’t you all agree that the true miracle of Christmas is the love that we all share?

THE BATTLE AXE: Did Jesus Know? (12/22/2012)—Jesus was not born with supernatural knowledge of human events, an ability to predict the future, or skill to read the hearts, minds and thoughts of others. He quickly gained knowledge and understanding of what must be the course for his own life through attending synagogue and convocations at the Temple in Jerusalem, the careful instruction of Mary and Joseph, his own study of the holy writings, private prayer, and disciplined reflection. The anointing Jesus received at the Jordan River that was witnessed by John the Baptist, ripened the many seeds of sacred truth that had been planted up to that time; and the forty days and nights of fasting and prayer in the wilderness finished Jesus’ preparation for prophetic ministry. In addition to discernment and insight into human error, human nature, and the human predicament, Jesus received an endowment of divine truth, and assurance of his legitimacy as son of Man, Son of GOD, and the One Sent. Being encouraged by the account of Abraham Isaac, and the deliverance granted at Mount Moriah, Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane that he would not have to endure the crucifixion, or that it could be delayed. When he signaled his consent and reconciliation to the Father saying, thy will be done, he was also appropriating the “sure mercies of David,” that GOD’s holy one would not see corruption (Matthew 26: 42 and Acts 13: 26-39, KJV).

THE GOLDEN ARROW: Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. (Galatians 4: 3-7, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: A Slaughter of Innocents (12/15/2012); Signs of Messianic Belief? (12/16/2012); Holiday Displays? (12/07/2012); An Attack Upon Creation? (12/08/2012); The Glory Of The Lord (12/25/2012); Girdle 39: The Foolish Things (12/24/2011); Annual Feasts (12/29/2010); Lord of Sabbath (12/25/2010); The Wise Men? (12/21/2010); Melchizedek? (12/22/2010)

The appearance of GOD in flesh, dependent, and vulnerable among men is the miracle of Christmas. However, because many only look to carnal and material reality for truth, the holidays are no longer “holy” days. Focus upon almsgiving, charities, children, family, or volunteering service anchor ones concentration in acquisition, self-promotion, and self-satisfaction. As mature Christian believers our eyes are drawn to the many things of “spirit” that make divinity known to us. Included are adoption, birth, death, faith, forgiveness, Incarnation, divine law, longsuffering, rebirth, prophecy, and revelation.

While our children are precious, and bring great beauty and excitement into our lives in the holiday seasons, our emotions and feelings for one another and for them are not in the nature of miracle. Our emotional changes are continuing elements in daily experience and routines that serve as deep and abiding aspects of our bond to life. Boundless and unchanging divine purpose must come into view, and so, the miracle of Christmas that human awareness should embrace also proclaims Creation, judgment, sanctification, salvation, resurrection, and eternal life.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, miraculous events leave deposits, footprints and residues of divine substance. The miracle of Christmas provides content that exists only within the fullness of divine person, and may be imparted to mankind as sacred gifts. Included are holy boldness, faith, joy, holiness, hope, humility, righteousness, truth, wisdom and wrath against sin.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

(12/22/2012) Did Jesus Know?

Whether Jesus had foreknowledge of his resurrection before it occurred is a topic, today, along with more on Naaman the Leper. A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “fixer29” (Level 4 with 2,680 points, November 16, 2010) posted the following:

Did Jesus know He was going to be resurrected before He was crucified?

Or did it come as a huge surprise when He woke up in a cave three days later?

THE BATTLE AXE: Naaman the Leper (12/21/2012)—Just as the miraculous healing of Naaman followed his obedience, only after obedience do believers receive authority, gratitude, joy, trust, understanding, and the imparted, indwelling spirit of GOD (we say, the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit of Prophecy). All believers begin without full knowledge of the Gospel, and the things given from GOD. There must be inquiry, study, decision, death and resurrection (through baptism), confirmations of faith, and continuous change by spiritual growth. Once healed of otherwise incurable disease (leprosy is sin), Naaman becomes a figure of the divinely reborn who minister to mankind by sharing the Gospel of Christ. The prophet refuses the offer of payment and earthly rewards; however, his servant, Gehazi, pursues Naaman, and seeks reward through deception and lying. As a result, the servant receives the curse of Naaman’s leprosy upon himself, and upon his own future generations. As a minister to the prophet in the way Joshua attended Moses, Gehazi was one who stands in witness to the operation and presence of GOD, and one who has received such divine gifts as covenant, deliverance, law, and priesthood. Gehazi’s covetousness, presumption, and violation of trust is like that of one who hears the Gospel message, and despises the promises and spiritual gifts preferring outward appearance (e.g., changes of raiment), influence, wealth and worldly power.

THE GOLDEN ARROW: Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee. Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. (John 11: 21-27, King James Version)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: A Holy Kiss? (11/13/2012); Life and Death (09/26/2012); What He Died For (09/14/2012); Chances for Change (09/15/2012); Begotten not Made (09/08/2012); About False Witness (09/09/2012); Why Jesus Prayed (08/19/2012); How Life Exists (08/20/2012); Girdle 50: Unquenchable Life (01/06/2012)

In addition to a record of the doctrines and teachings from GOD the Father that Jesus proclaimed by his ministry as an orthodox rabbi, the Scriptures identify many of the prophesies he carried out and performed as well as the declarations of his personal conviction and faith. Even knowledge for some of the most “private” prayers of Jesus have been provided to believers through the Holy Spirit (see Luke 11: 1-4 and John 17, King James Version). Jesus was familiar with the events and portents surrounding his birth; and, being human, he endured a continual struggle to acquire a mature comprehension, and complete acceptance of sacred truth (see Matthew 25: 20-46 and Mark 14: 13-42, KJV).

Jesus lived in a society that had many divisions, errors, and faith eroding secular influences. Even among the elders and leaders of the Temple community (often called “the Jews” in Scripture), there were disbelievers and factions driven by human error, politics, and pride. Being anchored in faith, humility, obedience and prayer, Jesus acknowledged and demonstrated to all the proper duty for a son of GOD (see Luke 4: 16-21 and Matthew 11: 1-6, KJV). The holy writings were the most widely available and shared presentation of doctrine, and provided all the necessary elements for the common acceptance of salvation through Christ. Thus, Jesus and his followers preached and proclaimed the truths of his birth, death, burial and resurrection as fulfillment of prophecy, and things of the holy record, rather than the accomplishment of private goals and purposes (see Luke 24: 1-31, KJV).

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, how we experience events in our divine spirit, or in our human imagination and thoughts are at a very different level than events in our flesh and material reality. The events of the Lord’s Passion included many unexpected details, jolts and unanticipated traumas. For example, his expectation (i.e., hope) probably did not include seeing his mother stand before him at the foot of the cross.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

(12/21/2012) Naaman the Leper

The Bible’s account of Naaman as a parable is the topic today, along with more on GOD in public schools. The “Yahoo! Answers” Top Contributor using the ID “Camille” (Level 7 with 141,507 points, a member since March 18, 2009) posted the following:

Naaman comes to Elisha because he is a leper how did he get healed of the leprosy and was he obedient to God?II Kings 5:1-15

Namaan, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great and honorable man: Naaman was the chief military commander of a persistent enemy to both Israel and Judah.

But a leper: Naaman had a lot going for him, but what he had against him was devastating.

THE BATTLE AXE: GOD in Schools? (12/20/2012)—Many aspects of divine covenant have been copied and imperfectly incorporated into the law and lifestyle of America as a Nation. As a result, many of our public programs can encourage and supplement home and church to establish our children as godly persons, however, agencies having no endowment of the Holy Spirit can never provide, replace or surpass the necessary lessons from GOD. The idea of GOD in schools through daily prayer derives from belief that prayer should be practiced freely without restrictions upon physical location, time or topic. Therefore, prayer may be offered spontaneously and apart from formal, congregational worship. Behavior and conduct that defile young people must be eliminated from the schools along with all that is irreverent and profane. However, as a sacred process, prayer, like judgment, is not the same for believers within the body and others who are outside the faith (see 1st Corinthians 5: 11-13, KJV). The sanctuary of a church as the gathering place where believers acknowledge the divine presence is cleansed and set apart for the appearance of GOD, and for worship by the prayers of the assembly. The same benefit is desired for our schools; yet, secular goals, public policy, and standard procedures do not generate, or serve as legitimate authority and parameters for prayer. The demand for prayer in schools generated by man must be seen as distinct from the demands for obeisance made by the Holy Spirit. The churches are cautioned against being deceived, and the making of vain oblations (Luke 21: 8, 1st Corinthians 6: 9 and 15: 32-34, Galatians 6: 7 and Isaiah 1: 13, KJV). Consider again: Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. (2nd Timothy 2: 1-4, KJV).

THE GOLDEN ARROW: And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country. And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country. But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, (Luke 4: 23-28, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: Dispatch 36: His Grace (09/15/2011); Respect? (01/02/2011); Not Accepted? (01/03/2011); Five Minutes? (12/27/2010); The Ark of GOD (12/28/2010); Things? (11/13/2010); When at Work… (11/08/2010); Faith and History (11/09/2010)

For many mature Christian believers, the history of Naaman the leper serves as a parable (object lesson) wherein the warrior represents mankind in continual strivings finally becoming defiled and infirm through sin (leprosy). Despite his fame as a savior to the Syrians, Naaman must submit to the Holy One of Israel for change that is salvation (e.g., cleansing, forgiveness, healing, repentance, and restoration).

Humility and obedience are shown to be the foundation for faith when Naaman is told to go bathe in the Jordan River. The great man has been sent having letters of commendation from his king; however, the prophet does not receive him with ceremony. Naaman becomes angry at being denied the formalities and “respect of person” due his various offices as ambassador, general, and prime minister to his king (the right-hand-man, so to speak). In his rage, he begins to curse the Jordan River and all Israel, instead, praising several rivers of his homeland, Syria.

Salvation is shown to come by our performance of simple acts in cooperation with the profound acts of GOD on our behalf. When cautioned by his servants, Naaman is led to serve, and performs the task of dipping himself in the water seven times. (The number seven signifies completeness and perfection.) Naaman did all that he could possibly do. The washing by water is understood as baptism. That healing alone is not sufficient is depicted in what happens next. Naaman requests a dispensation that he would be forgiven when, continuing to obey his king, Naaman would escort him into a place of idol worship. In this, the account of Naaman acknowledges that divine salvation that removes fear, sin and spiritual uncleanness does not remove automatically the duties, obligations, or physical and practical realities necessary to our being in the world.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, the figure of Naaman may be seen as repeated in Simon the leper (Matthew 26: 6-7 and Mark 14; 3, KJV). That Jesus, the disciples, and others were able to attend a feast in Simon’s home, testifies that Simon had been healed of leprosy. However, here, instead of the dread disease, leprosy may have been excommunication from the worship community for being a publican, one who regularly interacted with, and served Gentiles (i.e., the Romans). ) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

(12/20/2012) GOD in Schools?

Public schools as a divine tool for religious instruction, and more on the return of Christ to heaven are topics, today. A “Yahoo! Answers” Top Contributor using the ID “Olga”, (a member since November 14, 2012, Level 3 with 1,749 points) posted the following:

Christians: How can we get God back in schools where He belongs? +Pastor John Hagee...?

of the Cornerstone Church said this on the church's Facebook page which is extremely inspirational:

"Hope for tomorrow begins with rational decisions today that guarantee a new direction for our nation. We have run God out of our schools, our lives, many of our churches
and God’s blessing has been lifted from our nation. I invite you to come this Sunday morning to hear the answer from God’s Word about “Hope for Tomorrow.” I’ll see you at Cornerstone Church Sunday morning; bring your Bibles and note-taking materials. Bring a heart that is ready to hear from heaven. God knows we’ve heard from everybody else long enough." - Pastor John Hagee

Join us at 8:30 & 11am! See you in Church!

THE BATTLE AXE: The Ascension of Christ? (12/19/2012)—The lifting up of Jesus while he was yet in the flesh was witnessed by a group of men who had been carefully chosen and prepared through daily living, study, and laboring in ministry with Jesus. Without having first been built up through encounters and tests, the display of glory, holiness and power would have overwhelmed the carnal minds, emotions, and imaginations of the apostles. Instead of confidence and conviction, confusion and unbelief would have been the most likely result. Inarguable evidence that Jesus was truly sent from Almighty GOD to fulfill sacred covenants and promises had already been supplied by the events of Christ crucified, buried, and revived from death. The ascension appears as an irrefutable sign from heaven confirming the yet unfilled promise of a Comforter and further gifts to come from GOD. More than this, the apostles’ experience of his ascension sealed the truth that Jesus would return in glory.

THE GOLDEN ARROW: Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. (Galatians 4: 1-7, King James Version)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: A Slaughter of Innocents? (12/15/2012); Unexceptional Beginnings? (11/22/2012); Believing Everything? (11/23/2012); Attending Church? (11/12/2012); A Holy Kiss? (11/13/2012); Parental Duty? (10/08/2012); Why No Answer? (08/25/2012); To Be or Not To Be (08/26/2012); The Young Less Religious (08/18/2012); Why Jesus Prayed (08/19/2012); Trouble for the Good (01/15/2012); Chain of Command (01/16/2012)

Public schools are correctly understood as mechanisms to discipline, educate, and train members of a community, particularly minor children, however, public schools are not designed to fulfill the sacred purpose of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Public schools respond to mandates determined by civil law, shared resources, and social consensus. The order, process and structure of public schools are not rooted in divine law, and the various truths essential to right relationship with GOD as Creator. Having said this, public schools are “elements of the world,” not the kingdom of GOD.

In addition to issues that emerge from varying levels of faith, obedience, and trust, challenges for religious instruction through the public forum represented by schools include enforcement of dissent, demands for inclusion by those professing disbelief, imbalance that may be addressed only through interdependence, and nonnegotiable demands for sound belief essential in establishing unity. Academic settings permit only abstract and narrative descriptions of spiritual documents and events. Peculiar figures may be identified as thought leaders and objects of worship. Questionable summaries of belief systems may be studied. The bottom line is that, public education does not truly allow spirit content to be conveyed, experienced, and internalized.

The church and the home are the “god-given” devices for religious instruction that will both emerge from and demonstrate divine presence in recognizable power. This is specially true now that our schools are no longer merely centers for the 3-R’s (reading, ’ritin’ and ’rithmetic). The schools are business centers involving millions of dollars in contracts for books, building supplies, electronics, food services, and repairs. The schools are independent social systems (like a small town within a town), and now include issues of absence of parental involvement, alcohol and drug use, inappropriate sexual activity, police presence and violence. Emotionally charged issues make it that students must take to the schools a knowledge of GOD that will preserve the schools, and increasingly do not take a knowledge from the schools that will preserve the church and home.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, the issue of arming teachers with guns to protect students is now driven by fear and panic. In an emergency, access to a weapon worn as a sidearm and openly displayed will be very different than for weapons kept under lock and key for safety. Such options as the use of mace (stronger than pepper spray) or Tasers are not being highlighted in the present discussions. Doctrine and teaching accounted as nonviolence, and “turning the other cheek” may not be dismissed without violating the Gospel.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

(12/19/2012) The Ascension of Christ?

The return of Jesus to heaven by ascension, how believers overcome skepticism, and titles for Jesus as heir of GOD are topics, today. The “Yahoo! Answers” writer using ID “Agent Sixty Three” (Level 2 with 792 points, a member since September 13, 2011) posted the following:

Did Jesus 'ascend' into heaven 'physically'?

Is that phrase literal? Does it mean what it says or is it another one of those twisted, mistranslated, misunderstood, poetic, allegorical, or figurative phrases?

Because I thought heaven was NOT 'up' but in a completely different dimension.

And I thought heaven was NOT a physical place, as physical bodies are the cause of most sins to begin with.

So what's going on here?

Let's hear some excuses.

THE BATTLE AXE: The Firstborn, Higher than Kings? (12/18/2012)—The title “firstborn” applied to Jesus as Son and heir of GOD goes beyond merely identifying the primary actor in a legal process to preserve an estate, dispose of a deceased person’s belongings, or to transfer ownership of carnal and material substance. The Son of GOD is declared to be preeminent; and Jesus is titled “firstborn from the dead.” As with the titles “begotten” and “firstfruits”, Jesus is distinguished as generated from Spirit, and born of a woman from flesh, under the law, yet, not conceived, fashioned and made through human reproduction. More than this, Jesus is again generated from Spirit, “born again” as the planting and seed of GOD, restored in resurrection, under the law, yet, not through human methods of husbandry. (See Galatians 4: 1-7; Acts 13: 29-31; 1st Corinthians 15: 20-28 and 32-58; Colossians 1: 9-20, King James Version.)

THE GOLDEN ARROW: For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. (Hebrews 9: 24-28, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: A Golden Ticket? (11/30/2012); Given the Cloud of Witnesses (11/29/2012); How Was GOD Known Before Jesus? (10/06/2012); Jesus King of Earth? (10/07/2012); A Man in Heaven? (09/23/2012); Aliens? (09/24/2012); Reason to Believe (01/12/2012); On Going to Heaven (01/13/2012); Spirit or Word? (12/11/2010); Justification? (12/12/2010)

Understanding the things of GOD provided by the ministries of Jesus Christ (upon the earth, and from heaven) requires a broad awareness of spiritual reality that begins in the fact that GOD is a spirit; and we—though created beings and living creatures bearing flesh and blood—must worship him relying upon our own inner spirit, and our human disciplines for sharing truth (see John 4: 19-26, King James Version). Among mankind, the divine spirit uses devices and demonstrations that can be recognized and understood as aspects and details of a comprehensive truth. Together, various visible features describe godly provisions, divine processes, and otherwise unseen sacred purpose. Included are incarnation, birth, anointing, sanctification, death, resurrection, judgment, salvation, and eternal life.

Everyone who comes to Christ begins with a measure of disbelief that blocks, and interferes with the operation of the imparted Spirit from GOD that must abide within the believer as their guide and teacher. Study of the holy writings that document the action and presence of GOD among men, nourishes and strengthens the human spirit; and redirects emotional and mental energies away from fantasy and imagination. Old ideas about what is possible or impossible are gradually altered, and the ability to recognize the many aspects of divinity in the earth (i.e., true spiritual discernment) is established. This was true for all those whom Jesus called as his apostles, and continues to be true unto this day.

Mature Christian believers stand firm in the truth that GOD did appear in human form as Jesus of Nazareth to fulfill divine promises and complete sovereign works that were begun in the Creation. Jesus demonstrated authority over both the natural and spirit world through miracles that included exorcism, feeding, healing, and raising the dead. More than this, Jesus demonstrated and embodied the righteousness contained in divine law as well as the godly wisdom requisite for divine judgment.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, the proclamation that Jesus would return in the same form and manner that was used in his leaving is consistent both with the covenant promises of GOD, and the expectations commanded (we say “hope”) granted to mankind for final resolution of the mystery of GOD, and a full revelation of the GODhead. GOD continues to exist using the form of a man in heaven by the Person of Jesus Christ.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

(12/18/2012) The Firstborn, Higher than Kings?

Birth order, inheritance and Jesus as “firstborn” are topics along with more on vows and covenants, today. A Yahoo! Answers writer using the ID “Ismael” (Level 1 with 91 points, July 27, 2012) posted the following:

Christians, why was David called the "firstborn", when he was the youngest son?

Psalm 89:27,

THE BATTLE AXE: Vows and Covenants? (12/17/2012)—Through covenant, invisible, yet, abiding and marvelous aspects of divinity are revealed to mankind; particularly grace, love, mercy, and unmerited favor. In addition, covenant permits the special provision of judgment that a remnant is sufficient to fulfill all the terms of divine commitment. (For examples, see Ezra 9: 1-15, Isaiah 1: 1-31, Ezekiel 14: 21-23, Zephaniah 3: 1-20, Romans 3: 1-31 and Romans 11: 1-36, King James Version.)

THE GOLDEN ARROW: And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers, God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David. Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption: But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption. Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. (Acts 13: 32-39, King James Version)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: Given the Cloud of Witnesses (11/29/2012); Son of Man? (11/28/2012); Begotten not Made (09/08/2012); About False Witness (09/09/2012); Set Free To… (03/27/2012); Grandchildren? (03/23/2011); A To Do List (03/24/2011); Lion of Judah (01/10/2011)

The title of “firstborn” (from GOD) is higher than that for “king” because it proclaims the bearer an heir of GOD. As a social process and expression of flesh, birth order determines the heir through custom and tradition. As a divine process and expression of spirit, the duties and privileges of the heir are obtained by anointing and divine appointment, faith, grace, sacred law, divine prerogative, and sovereign authority.

Many accounts recorded in the Bible portray the principle that the elder shall serve the younger; that twins are distinguished for sacred service before their birth and throughout their lifetime; and acquiring the blessing as heir to the ministry from heaven that was given to Adam is determined by GOD. Cain and Abel, Esau and Jacob, Reuben and Joseph, Ephraim and Manasseh, and the promotion of Judah above Levi all display the operation of GOD to establish salvation in the earth. A similar operation is seen in miraculous births by women known to be barren, elderly, and already experiencing menopause (consider Samson, Samuel, John the Baptist), as well as the birth of Jesus through a virgin.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, until mankind has been made completely immortal and incorruptible through the ministries by the Son of GOD, eternal GOD will continue in uninterrupted relationship with finite beings through elements structured by timeless law. More than simply the power of GOD to control birth, death, and resurrection, there has been sacred presence, and performance of godly will through adoption, covenant, dynasty, family, forgiveness, inheritance, priesthood, promise, promotion, prophecy, and prosperity.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

(12/17/2012) Vows and Covenants?

Covenant as an instrument of GOD is the topic, today; also, there is more on Messianic belief. A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “truth101” (Level 2 with 527 points, a member since October 19, 2012) posted the following:

Did the jews always break there vows to JEHOVAH (did they keep there word on anything?

THE BATTLE AXE: Signs of Messianic Belief? (12/16/2012)—The cross and tzitzit (pronounced “seat-seat”) are symbols of divine love and power only among believers. Together, the two signify that the law of GOD has been made perfect through faith, righteousness, and full payment of all the law’s penalties. There are many who count themselves “conservative” Christians and mistakenly identify belief in Jesus as Messiah as false doctrine, “judaizing,” heresy, and the mark of a cult. The accusation that “the Jews murdered Jesus” continues among those who are blinded by anti-Semitism, ignorance, racism and hate; and appears among believers both as unholy sentiment, and as the spirit of anti-Christ. The work of GOD in his first appearance as Messiah was to confirm and fulfill various features of a divine plan establishing eternal life. Confusion often arises on the point that, by dying on the cross, Jesus ended Judaism and Jewish law. Echoing the rebellion that appeared among the holy angels, there are many in the churches who say, “the law was nailed to the cross,” declaring, we no longer have to obey the Ten Commandments and other laws given the tribes of Jacob. Some insist that this applies only to ceremonial laws, rituals for sacrifice, and practices specific to Jewish secular culture and history including circumcision and tithing. The covenant of Moses is also called “the law” in Scripture; so many understand that the Mosaic covenant was “nailed” (terminated), and a completely different covenant is now in its place. Messianic belief insists upon the righteousness of GOD depicted through the continuity of covenant relationship with the Jews, and a single provision for rebirth and salvation available to all mankind (i.e., , Jews and Gentiles alike) through Jesus the Son of the Highest.

THE GOLDEN ARROW: Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD. (Jeremiah 31: 31-37, King James Version)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: Why Did the Judges Fight? (10/19/2012); The Priesthood of Kings (10/17/2012); Childlike Faith (10/18/2012); The Spirit is Willing (10/20/2012); Spirit Matter (10/21/2012); Still the “Chosen”? (03/19/2012); GOD Does Exist (03/20/2012); Annulled? (01/09/2011); New Covenant? (01/08/2011)

The covenant work of the Jews as a chosen instrument of GOD must be recognized and spiritually discerned on many levels. The tribes of Jacob were chosen to display both divine blessing and curses (see Deuteronomy 11: 22-32 and Joshua 8: 30-35, KJV). In the same way Noah and his family of eight souls became a “living ark” and vessel preserving divine law upon the earth (see Genesis 6: 1-22 and 9: 1-30, KJV), all Israel is to serve as a nation formed by GOD to demonstrate divine law on behalf of all mankind. Most correctly understood, the repeated failures and shortcomings of the Jews are only “such as is common to man,” and clarifies the need for divine atonement, guidance, intercession, and “rebirth.”

Covenant is more to be seen as the tool of GOD for revelation than contracts and tools of mankind for property and prosperity. In addition to making Almighty GOD known, present and visible, covenant extends the sovereign will of GOD to created beings and living creatures in such a way that all are enabled to more readily recognize and resist sin. Sin is no living entity, and is not put forth from GOD or any in existence. Sin opposes the existence of divine law, the divine Law Giver, and the existence of all within Creation. We speak of sin as if an attribute or trait transmitted by DNA. Sin lacks dimension, form and substance, yet has direction, effect, and presence. Sin is no “thing”, and may not influence the will of divinity, however, sin may dominate self-will in the created. The total elimination of sin requires divine operations that include incarnation, death, self-sacrifice, resurrection, judgment, and the second death.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, as with all things among men, covenant is temporal, and shifts in its meaning and value from person to person, and time to time. Continuity for covenant is established by eternal, unchanging GOD through such mechanisms as dynasty, family, forgiveness, nation, prophecy, regeneration, sanctification, and eternal life.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.

(12/16/2012) Signs of Messianic Belief?

Belief that may combine Christian and Jewish traditions is today’s topic; and there is more on joy as a believer’s strength. A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “Melani” (Level 1 with 105 points, a member since November 3, 2012) posted the following:

A coworker wears both a crucifix and tzitzit?
AND she's a woman. Religiously, what does this mean?

THE BATTLE AXE: A Slaughter of Innocents (12/15/2012)—Joy of (= from) the Lord is provided through the imparted, indwelling spirit of GOD; and does not render believers childish, foolish, and incapable of meeting the difficulties and problems of human life. Instead of euphoria and giddiness, believers acquire a further sense of balance, confidence, order, security, vision and understanding that is important for their making life choices and spiritual decisions. Like the promises of GOD that are certain of fulfillment, joy contends against disappointment, loss, and rejection. More importantly, joy serves as a tool along with other spirit content (e.g., faith, humility, longsuffering, patience) for created beings and living creatures to make right responses to sacred process, divine purpose and holy revelations. Divine joy is closely associated with abundance, beauty, gratitude, kindness, praise and thanksgiving, therefore, joy repeatedly appears with healing, prayer, service, vocational work, and worship. Believers experience the joy of their salvation (1) as they continue to acknowledge change, growth and newness of life; (2) share the Gospel with compassion, courage, enthusiasm and understanding; and (3) show affection, godliness, and respect.

THE GOLDEN ARROW: Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law. (Isaiah 42: 1-4, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER: Son of Man (11/28/2012); How Was GOD Known Before Jesus? (10/06/2012); On Religious Items (08/29/2012); On Cults (08/30/2012); On The Messiah (02/19/2012); The Coming (11/10/2010); A Fig Tree Cursed? (10/02/2010)

It is very likely that your coworker is a “Messianic believer” acknowledging the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Greek names given the Savior). Many experienced Christians and Jews now joyfully embrace the Jewish heritage of Jeshua Bar-Joseph (the Hebrew name given the Savior). In addition to the use of prayers in the Hebrew language, and the use of tzittzit acknowledging divine law, you may find the observance of the seventh-day Sabbath (Friday sundown to sundown on Saturday), feast days commanded in Scripture, and study of rabbinical writings.

While the word “Messiah” is actually found only twice in the Bible (see Daniel 9: 21-27, KJV), groundwork for the doctrine of a divine person that would appear as an offspring of Adam, destroy the adversary of GOD, and restore perfection to mankind and the earth is established very early (see Genesis 3: 1-24, KJV). Later, Messiah is titled “the Lamb” and is named “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS” (see Revelation 17: 14 and 19: 16, KJV). Messianic belief also advances Adventism, the acknowledgment of divine proclamations, promises, and prophecies that Messiah will return again to the earth, soon. Upon completion of judgment presided over by Jesus as the divinely appointed, righteous Judge, Messiah will be head over a kingdom of incorruptible and immortal believers.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, the key to your learning more is that you speak directly to your coworker, rather than talk about your coworker. Disrespect, gossip, rumor, and slander are fostered by every other approach.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.
