Today, the reply presents parables spoken by Jesus Christ revealing that the divine provisions for a “second chance” to mankind following the sin of Adam are to be seen as forgiveness, new life, and mercy to those found guilty in sacred judgment. In the parable of the Pharisee and the publican, two men turn to the same GOD in prayer, however, like Cain and Abel, the two sons of Adam, the Pharisee and publican must be recognized as using two different forms of worship, and both are appearing before divinity in judgment. A second account and parable also appears where Jesus defends the actions of a woman judged and despised as a prostitute, and clarifies the meanings of gratitude, humility, love, repentance, and unselfish service. It is written: Romans 8: 5-9, KJV: 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Why should murderers, abusers and rapists have a second chance?

While there are many people who have been abused, suffering from personality disorders, genetic predispositions, etc. yet made choices to do the right thing from the start. I actually think it's an insult to these people who have made sacrifices to do right and to help make the world a better place. If you choose to live at the expense of others, you should suffer for it. It was YOUR choice. You could've chosen differently like these people did.

“Anonymous”, the response Jesus Christ made to those raising your question while he was alive ministering on the earth was shared in the form of a parable (we say, an object lesson; an account based on real events used to provide instruction) that used local events and figures to describe the spirit nature and process of divinity. Two men, who both believed they were in the same correct covenant inheritance from GOD that had been established on earth through Moses, went up to the Temple in Jerusalem to present themselves before GOD. One is labeled as a “Pharisee”, a respected member of the most strict sect of believers among the Jews, and those who exalted fulfilling the demands of sacred law as our highest duty to GOD. The other was labeled as a “publican”, a Jew who served as a government worker (perhaps a tax collector; a spy; a paid informer), who, contrary to Hebrew customs, law, and traditions, lived and worked in close association with the Roman rulers. Can you see where you might appear in what is written?:

(1.) Luke 18: 9-14, King James Version (KJV): 9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Mature Christian believers trust that mankind is now in a season of grace where the divine fullness (we also say, divinity; the Godhead; the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit) makes themselves knowable, known, accessible, and approachable through revelation, rather than mystery. Otherwise inseparable and unseen aspects of the makeup of GOD have appeared on the earth embodied in human flesh (we say, Incarnation) as Jesus Christ; and those who become “born again” are to receive a fresh endowment of the same life essence (breath; spirit; word) imparted from the makeup of GOD to Adam at Creation, and to Jesus Christ in his resurrection. Included are balance, faith, forbearance, holiness, longsuffering, lovingkindness, oneness without sameness, personhood, wisdom, and wrath against sin. As vessels of divine DNA, so to speak, believers are the children of GOD, joint-heirs with Jesus Christ, and the new creation.

Divinity is not only to be understood as the origin of existence and life, GOD also is to be acknowledged as an impartial and righteous Judge, who extends mercy to those who have been found guilty through sacred judgment. In the same way atonement is provided for the guilty rather than for the innocent, adoption, forgiveness, protection, and reconciliation are intended for those most in need of them. Consider the following that shares a second parable that speaks regarding a woman once a prostitute:

And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat. 37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, 38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. 39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner. 40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. 41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. 42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? 43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. “Miki”, for many mature Christian believers, there is no single lesson or message from the Flood because it is a sacred event that accomplishes multiple divine works.  Included are cleansing, incarnation, inheritance, judgment, prophecy, revelation, reconciliation, regeneration, salvation, and sanctification.  Creation must respond to divine law, and those chosen from among mankind may serve as special vessels of sacred law and inseparable divine substance such as faith, holiness, longsuffering, wisdom, and wrath against sin.  Divinity is more than an abstract principle, and is shown to respond to created beings and living creatures through personal exchange, dynamic interactions, and intimate relationship.  Consider the following from the holy writings:

(1.)  Psalm 24:  1-2, King James Version (KJV):  1 The earth is the LORD’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.  2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

(2.)  Genesis 6:  7-9, KJV:  7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.  8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.  9 These are the generations of Noah:  Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

(3.)  Genesis 18:  24-26, KJV:  24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city:  wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?  25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked:  and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee:  Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?  26 And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.

Today, answer is made to the charge that Christ used parables to deny and frustrate those desiring to receive the Gospel.  The “Yahoo! Answers” fighter using ID “rrocketmangurung” (Level 3 with 1,873 points, a member since April 06, 2015) accuses the Savior of error using the following challenge:


Why would Jesus deliberately obscure the gospel by speaking in parables so that people would not understand, turn, and be forgiven?

(Mark 4:11-12) Did he not come that all men might be saved?

“rrocketmangurung”, while Christian belief may be shared as plain, it is no less a comprehensive system of sacred knowledge and practices.  Here are a few points every Christian must take into account for complete, correct understanding:
 

(1.)  The revelation of divinity to all created beings and living creatures is an eternal and profound sacred process.  While all may seek to approach GOD using simple acts and expressions intended to convey such awareness as awe, humility, material needs, respect, trust, and truth, full acknowledgment, obedience and worship must occur all at the same time, and upon multiple levels.

(2.)  The divine operations to proclaim divine forbearance and forgiveness for sin, and the work to make visible the kingdom of GOD in the earth can not be separated from that focused upon discovering and permanently binding together the elect (we say, the work of assigning value and judgment).  The Immortal, Invisible GOD appeared using flesh in the person of Jesus Christ (the Incarnation); a further indication that, men are to be drawn to Deity, not driven and subjugated through violence.

(3.)  GOD is not the author of confusion; consider again:  But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:  for the Father seeketh such to worship him.  (John 4:  23, King James Version, KJV).  But without faith it is impossible to please him:  for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.  (Hebrews 11:  6, KJV).  But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;  To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.  (Psalm 103:  17-18, KJV)

(4.)  When ministering to the multitudes, the Savior used doctrine, parables (we say, object lessons), praise, prayer, precepts, principles and the law to establish shared awareness of the spiritual condition, needs, readiness, and true commitment of Israel, and all Creation (e.g., the dead, the sick, unclean spirits, the wind).

There is far more to be said, correctly understood, and spiritually taken into account.  (For example, (5.)  Christ had to be identified to Israel through the ministry of John the Baptist.  A new covenant relationship with Deity was introduced that would provide more than preaching, prophecy, sacrifices in the temple at Jerusalem, and study in the synagogues.  The presence and operations of the indwelling Spirit promised from GOD would be demonstrated through water and fire baptism.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith and spiritual maturity.

(05/02/2014)—(4.)  While we understand that parables serve as verbal illustrations and object lessons, many miss that parables are also to be understood as statements of prophecy.  Many were based upon common experiences in daily life; some were taken from historical events, and familiar Scriptures.  The intent of using parables was not so much to provide full explanations and complete knowledge as to engage hearers, excite curiosity, and establish an appetite for more spiritual matter. (5.)  The kingdom Jesus came to demonstrate and increase can not be correctly described and detailed using only the language, material objects, and processes of human experience.  There must be a peculiar resonance (aspects of oneness and sameness) between the content of being that resides within a person, and that residing within divinity and GODhead.  Jesus himself is a sum and vessel of the kingdom, such that by his Advent and coming, mankind receives divine governance, frameworks for sacred practice (we say, sacraments), and rule without there also having to be a change in eternal law.  Consider Deuteronomy 18:  18-19, Psalms 78:  1-8, Proverbs 1:  5-7, Ezekiel 17:  1-10, Isaiah 14:  3-12 and Revelation 12:  10-12, KJV.

“Prowess”, here are a few points to consider that may help you have a clearer view of Christian belief:

(1.)  For many the process of love to GOD is one of preparation for encounter.  We expect to meet GOD at some point during our full life experience, and so we cleanse, study, and otherwise prepare ourselves.  Think of this as an exciting process of expectation and hope similar to that of a married couple about to have their first child.  Their affection, commitment, and sense of relationship should begin long before the child is actually born.  They begin to examine and decide upon possibilities for their little one, as surely as they prepare a little room, a crib, and articles of clothing.

(2.)  For many the process of love to GOD is one of endurance until reunion.  We are in a painful separation from the Almighty, and so we go about to maintain and strengthen ourselves until we are together again.  Such believers have deep-grained “memories” of divine glory, the beauty of holiness, majesty, and sovereignty.

(3.)  What believers receive by fellowship and participation in study and worship within a congregation is often spoken of as a “foretaste of glory divine.”  Attitudes, behavior, conduct, goals, language and thinking are shared that immerse a believer in experiences of sacred truth.  Otherwise hidden and personal thoughts are found to be shared, and to have their common origin in divine operations, eternal purposes, and correct relationship with GOD.

There is a lot more to be said, correctly put into place, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (4.)  Carnal love relationships begin in a diffuse recognition of our needs for continuing affection and companionship as well as “what we bring to the table,” and want to offer within a relationship.  Similarly, our responses to divine love begin in recognizing needs, and wanting to make offering.  In the same way we use intellect, logic, and reason to choose what we eat and drink, we should not depend upon the animal aspects of our nature (e.g., appetite, instinct, intuition) to establish and maintain relationships that are healthy, lasting, productive, and satisfying.  We may pursue an informal plan that allows us to experience “chemistry” and fit with candidates for relationship (dating), before committing ourselves to friendship or marriage.  Similarly, believers explore their possibilities for right relationship with GOD.  It is not enough to simply desire to avoid isolation and rejection, or want to escape damnation and hell.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith, and your integrity as a genuine believer.

(02/18/2014) Arguing Against the Bible in Church?

Today, some points are shared on ones freedom to argue against the Bible when in church.  Also, there is more on relationships where believers may get spiritual knowledge.  A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “Cloudberry vs Boysenberry” (Level 1 with 244 points, a member since May 11, 2009) posted the following:


Christians, during church can you argue against something from the bible?

Let's say you read something in the bible and say to yourself "I don't think that is true, I want to argue that". Can you do that? Can you get with other Christians and say that somethings are just inaccurate in the bible?

If you do that, how will others look at you? Will you be looked at as weird or odd for even questioning the bible?

What's wrong with the question? Scientists do this all the time. They argue points, disprove theories and still move on. That is not negative in any way shape or form.

My question is for Religion. How do they handle something like this?

"Deadeye" so you are saying you have to read the bible cover to cover before you convert? Most of us were children that didn't have much of a choice but and went along with mom and dad.


THE BATTLE AXE:  The Right Place to Get Knowledge (02/17/2014)—(5.)  In a certain sense, believers should only seek spiritual knowledge from within themselves.  In the holy writings, Christian believers are commanded to avoid relationships and situations that compromise, and work against the divine content they receive as part of the church.  Even family, and others in close association may operate as those who  contend against the Gospel, and continually promote sin.  The Internet, social media, television, and the public forum are not dedicated, disciplined, and set apart (we say, sanctified) to serve Christian believers, and using these tools require the same balance, discretion, and maturity as choosing ones friends, and deciding how to interact with ones spouse, schoolmates or co-workers.  Believers all must arrive at the point where they stand entirely upon their own measure of faith from GOD.  All develop discernment whereby they make choices and decisions for companionship and participation.  Through the ministry of Jesus Christ, believers are built up in understanding, and guided by the imparted, indwelling Spirit (called the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of Prophecy, the Spirit of Truth).  A fresh endowment of spirit content from GOD is acquired through baptism that operates upon awareness and self-will within the believer.  Christians must answer many things that are contrary to, and different from, their own spiritual beliefs, cravings, and understandings.  Included are atheist beliefs, Buddhism, the Koran, Greek myths, Hindu, mathematics, occultism, philosophy, politics, popular culture, shamanism, and witchcraft.  Believers may freely examine and study various belief systems, yet, they must be careful to maintain a disciplined grasp upon those things from GOD that provide genuine nourishment of the divine spirit they themselves contain.  See Proverbs 13:  20, Proverbs 22:  4, Luke 14:  25-27, Romans 10:  5-10, 2nd Corinthians 1:  24, 2nd Corinthians 6:  14-18, 2nd Timothy 2:  3-4, 2nd Timothy 3:  1-5 and 1st John 2:  18-29, KJV.

“Cloudberry vs Boysenberry”, here are a few points intended for the children of GOD that I can share from my experience:

(1.)  In classroom situations and settings for instruction, many opportunities for discussion and exchange are provided.  Believers freely raise questions, and offer responses that display not only their understandings of various doctrines, policies of the church, and Scripture verses, they also deliver and exchange insights, personal testimonies, and prophetic proclamations.  There are many rules that may apply, and respect is to be maintained throughout.

(2.)  Argument, debate, and private opinions are accounted as useless.  The body and congregation are to welcome only statements that clarify the divine law, sacred duty, the operations of divine spirit, and eternal purpose.  For this reason, many assemblies discourage the use of speaking in tongues and their translation, and interruptions during lessons, particularly sermon presentations.

(3.)  While everyone attending a meeting or session may be a baptized adult, a member of the church in “good standing” who actively participates in the several ministries available, and has met all their obligation to support the church by giving, all believers are not equal, and have not achieved the same levels of responsibility, authority, knowledge, and maturity.  Differences, diversity and imbalance are necessary as a dynamic for the church that provides energy, growth, and movement.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. ( For example, (4.)  Within the church, the process and duty for believers is to first, prepare their Spirit for participation by submitting themselves to GOD in prayer; listen carefully to any presentations that are offered while they are in the gathering place (take nothing for granted, no matter how casual, or offhand it may seem); reflect; then go to GOD for confirmation of sacred truth through prayer, and further study of the holy writings.  In the final stage, one may have to accept and acknowledge correction, and begin to display change as well as resolve to practice according to the new light they have received.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

Today, I share some points on mortality and divine intent; and there is more on the life lessons from becoming a driving instructor.  A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “Stewie” (Level 1 with 135 points, a member since September 02, 2012) posted the following:


Aren't we supposed to be immortal?

Don't get me wrong! I'm not against any religion or anything like that, simply I'm just curious, since I haven't read the Bible itself.

So... According to the things I've read and heard: Our first sin was to eat the apple of eden. Before the first sin we (humans) were immortal, right? And since Jesus has died for our sins, shouldn't we be immortal?

Maybe I'm wrong or there are some explanations, or I just misheard/read something, but this is nebulous for me...

THE BATTLE AXE:  Driving Under the Influence (02/07/2014)—There are many “nuggets” I could have shared from my days with the driving school.  (For example, there was a lesson that every skill used in driving from here to California is used when parking a car.  Also, there was a nun living in the neighborhood of the Catholic University, who was dressed in full habit when I met for her very first lesson.  The sister sweated terribly, and appeared to have a panic attack.  I think she was offended that I spoke so much explaining different details, and would not allow her to just “feel her way” out on the road. Adding insult to injury, I dared to encourage her with a chiding word (perfect love casts out fear).  The next time I saw her, she was behind the wheel with a rival driving school.)  The “mother load” appears to be in the anecdote regarding my certification to teach.  Often believers are reluctant to insist upon righteousness and truth because we do not want to appear to be arrogant, overbearing, and pushy.  However, false notions of anarchy, freedom, the greater good, and mercy in judgment are at work.  Such feelings and thoughts arise from conceit, self-centeredness, and self-promotion.  We account ourselves righteous as we try to silently endure the errors of others generously admitting to ourselves that we also are still imperfect, and prone to making mistakes.  Thus, on surface, the trial I endured in the transformation from classroom and college level teaching to serving as a professional driving instructor behind two steering wheels was merely one of removing deeply ingrained and hidden pride.  However, the entire process was geared to (1) an instructor developing sensitivity; (2) a teacher establishing safety through removal of negative habits, operating by instinct, and relying upon emotion and muscular reflexes instead of knowledge and reason; (3) trainers more correctly recognizing subtle (barely visible) differences; and (4) drivers behaving as examiners (leaders) rather than sheep in traffic cohorts.  It was years later, as I was being trained to trade currencies, options and stocks (equities) through U. S. and foreign exchanges, that the embarrassments from the driving school began to appear as true life lessons:  Traders are cautioned that every loss and every mistake is to be recognized as a benefit, “due diligence,” and a “paid for” lesson that must be used for change and improvement.  Thus, I realized this morning, had I been thinking correctly, I would have accepted that I was no longer one of those (who assume they know their rights and responsibilities, and do not); I was like one “born again,” and I had become one of these (who continually practice the things given as law and wisdom).  I had entered a contract as one who protects the city, not one who presumes upon it, or who seeks to escape detection by hiding as an anonymous person within the various crowds to be found there.  I should have flunked that student, ignored her weeping and her tears, and even taken away her learner’s permit, rather than allow her on the road again to endanger others.  My compassion and authority were not to be that of her chum, her friend, or her defender as she insisted upon error.  In that situation, I was to be a judge on behalf of the community-at-large, deny her the right to put others at risk (by her relying on chance, luck, and false hope), and lawfully disallow her the fantasy (of knowing there is a right way, yet refusing to learn it, and do it) whereby she further endangered herself.  Consider again the accountability and complicity of the watchman (Ezekiel 33:  8-9, KJV).  Also, see Leviticus 19:  15, Proverbs 31:  8-9, John 7:  24, 1st Corinthians 6:  2-3 and Revelation 19:  11, KJV.

“Stewie”, here are a few points many Christian believers have found useful when considering our present human condition, and why it does not accomplish divine intent:

(1.)  Only GOD is immortal.  Mankind has never been immortal, yet, was made to be an eternal companion of divinity.  Through multiple operations of sin, mankind has become unfit.  Aspects of the full divine substance imparted as the breath of life can be blocked, defiled, and its power diminished.  Sin is nonmaterial as well as non-spirit; is no substance emanated from GOD; is no entity that can think and act on its own; and can not influence sovereign will or the inseparable aspects of divine person (such as faith, holiness, righteousness, truth, wisdom).  Nonetheless, sin may dominate awareness and self-will in created beings and living creatures.  Sin was first discovered among the angels of heaven (who are neither mortal nor immortal), and fostered opposition to continued existence of divine law, of the Law Giver, and of all Creation.

(2.)  Mankind was designed to gradually grow, learn and unfold as a being over time.  Death and mortality are more to be understood as corrections to extend time and maintain life than punishments to destroy life.  As provisions of the law prior to any transgression, these conditions for existence and life went into effect to favor Creation, and to operate as aspects of the full revelation of GOD through judgment.  Redemption, repentance, salvation, and sanctification also were added for the benefit of all.

There is far more to be said, properly shared, and spiritually understood.  (For example, (3.)  Adam and Eve did not have a written code of law such as was presented to Moses and those who entered covenant with the tribes of Jacob.  The pair were not required to operate on the basis of their knowledge of sacred law through intellect and logic, so much as to demand from within themselves more of the contact and relationship with GOD that they were already experiencing and receiving.  Thus, the basis for right relationship with GOD, and the divine operations to complete the transformation to establish mankind as immortal, incorruptible, and sinless emphasize “new birth” wherein divinity is imparted to indwell those who willingly accept the provision of GOD.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

(02/07/2014) Driving Under the Influence

Today, I share an anecdote (intended to serve like a parable) cautioning believers to focus upon the meaning, purpose, divine content, and spiritual value of human events, rather than their appearance, fashion, and form.  Some of our most difficult and necessary life lessons as Christian believers come to us in the appearance of day to day life experience.


THE BATTLE AXE:  On Youth Doing Enough (02/06/2014)—Like other young people dwelling in the earth, Christian youth all will face challenges, disappointments, times of uncertainty, and “growing pains.”   Yet, they will be continually supplied with tools from GOD that make possible lasting victory over confusion, fear, frustration, and weakness.  While growth, learning and preparation to serve will be a shared duty throughout the entire experience for those who are followers of Christ, new believers and youth often must be given added encouragement and support suited to their levels of maturity and understanding.  So to speak, the eternal life of a believer begins at their baptism; and there is only one truth for all the children of GOD, no matter what their ages.  Even so, genuine authority vested in children often is not properly acknowledged and obeyed without conflict, and unpleasantness.  Moreover, those in such roles as apprentices, beginners, disciples, and students often require added guidance, nourishment, and support.  Usually, minor children, teenagers, and young adults are not called to perform independently or without adult supervision in the vital offices and work whereby congregations and faith communities are initiated, organized, and maintained as worship assemblies.  Within a body of believers, consecration, intercession, pastoral counseling, and many other sacred tasks require continuous and full-time attention that would result in imbalance for young people still in stages of development that are not yet stable and complete.  Scripture reports that, at twelve years old (the age of bar mitzvah), Jesus was eager to begin service to GOD the Father when he visited the Temple at Jerusalem.  However, the Lord had to practice restraint and self-discipline until the time years later that was appointed for his appearing in public ministry.  See again, Luke 2:  40-52, King James Version.

Yesterday, I shared an anecdote with my neighbor and his visiting friend.  A question came up regarding companies that provide automobile insurance, and the discounted costs their customers must receive.  I talked about my time as a driving instructor, here, in the District of Columbia.  I could not find work at that time in my chosen fields of management consulting and college level teaching, so I decided I would put pride aside, and respond to a newspaper advertisement for teachers at a driving school in nearby Silver Springs, Maryland.  My older sister had worked for this same firm, and I was sure it would be a solution for me, at least for a short while.

The company advertised that it would provide training to licensed drivers.  Having eight years as a licensed vehicle operator (and miscellaneous experience behind the wheel as a “renegade”), I was given two in-vehicle orientation sessions (in a car filled with four other instructor candidates), and challenged to apply for an instructors permit in the District of Columbia.  This meant taking the same written test given to new license applicants (that I aced), and passing a commercial driver’s “road test” (the same one—Oh happy day!—given to beginners).

Much to my surprise, I flunked the first road test, and was embarrassed.  I flunked the second, and was shocked.  I flunked the same test a third time, and began to panic (that the license I already had would be revoked; and I would not be accounted as fit for the necessary job).  Upon taking the test the fourth time, I realized that this was the “training” new drivers were to receive.  I was shown that I had become comfortable driving by feeling, habit, and instinct; and I was not relying upon knowledge and a commitment to safe driving.  Like others in the driving public at large, I conformed to patterns of the cohort (groups of cars moving at the same speed, and in the same direction).  I was not responding correctly to the markers (on the ground), the signals (electronic indicators), and signs (postings above ground).  I passed the test, understanding that I had become aware of every mistake that beginning drivers usually make.

On one occasion, I was dispatched to the home of a new driver, whom I was told was an older person who wanted only a few lessons that would fit her for an already scheduled road test.  When I arrived to her home for her first lesson, she opened her door, and fainted.  I was stunned!  I did not know what to do.  She fell against the door, shutting the door in my face.  I thought she might be dead from a heart attack!  At first I hesitated—I did not want to have to touch a cadaver—and I was sure, if I opened her door, I would be liable for breaking and entering (a person can end up in trouble for trying to help somebody!)  Finally, I decided I should check and see, and perhaps call for help.  Somewhat revived, she insisted she be given her one hour lesson.  So, on our way to the car, and before she could step completely out of her door, she fainted again—this time, into my arms!  I was stunned at the thought of what it looked like—me, with my hands and arms all over this woman on her front porch, and in her doorway!  Scandalous!

This lady insisted (who had only a learner’s permit) it was her right to take the city’s exam, and that I prepare her for her coming road test.  She introduced me to her husband (and insisted he be allowed in the car as her passenger during her lessons).  So, I decided I would spend the hour parked in front of her home describing the features of the vehicle, and the startup procedure.  No, no, no, no, no, no!  We must go out on the street; surely, the two steering wheels and dual brake system were all she would need for safety!  Reluctantly, I  submitted; and we went out to the intersection at the end of the block (that happened to be one of the major arteries of the city).  Turning into a safe position, I told her to merely guide the car in it’s lane.  However, being in the left-most lane, when she saw the oncoming traffic, she threw up her hands, and covered her eyes.  I went off!  What are you doing!  Don’t you ever take your hands off the steering wheel!  How dare you cover your eyes when you are the driver of the car!

Thinking that, I have to accept my responsibility to my company, I figured I must acknowledge:  We are in this for the money!  After two or three sessions (she refused to pay for more), she legitimately insisted we assist her in taking the road test by escorting her to her appointment.  I counseled her that she was not ready.  Again, she insisted that she had a right to try, and to do her best.

Once in a second vehicle with the examiner (one owned by the school I work for, however, not having the dual brakes and steering systems), the examiner directed her to start the vehicle, go up the ramp to the street, and make a left turn onto the thoroughfare.  I had been careful to caution this student that most beginners flunk their test at this very point.  Two stops are required:  one before entering or crossing the pedestrian lane (the sidewalk), and one before entering the vehicle traffic lane (the street).  By these two stops, the speed of ones vehicle is controlled, and the likelihood of collision is reduced.

To my surprise, this student acknowledged both these necessary cautions.  Even so, she flunked her test; and the examiner (the same one who had been my “instructor”) came down on me like a ton of bricks.  Mr. Jackson returned the vehicle to the test lot in less than 45 seconds!  Her left turn had been into the oncoming traffic lane, and she had exposed them both to the most fatal form of automobile casualty—head on collision!  Officer Jackson exploded on me:  How dare you put my life, the property and lives of others at risk!  How dare you bring this person here, knowing she was not ready, or able to safely complete the road test!  He was right, and I felt like dirt.

Just as the mechanics and processes of driving a car requires more than the application of feeling, instinct and intuition, becoming and serving as a mature Christian believer requires more than arrogance, audacity, presumption, and self-confidence.  Believers must be instructed in and practice divine truth as provided through the sacred writings, the performance of sacraments, and the pronouncements of fellow believers continuing with us in fellowship.  To teach beginners, believers all must think like beginners, yet, not continue in the errors of starting believers.  Also, experienced believers must be prepared to accept that all are not on their same level; and no one has a right to have more and receive more of the things given by GOD simply because they have desire or need.  More important are balance, commitment, contrition, conviction, faith, integrity, meekness, sobriety, and trust.

(11/24/2013) Hardness of Heart?

Some points regarding hostility against the message of the Gospel are shared, today.  A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “Jimmie” (Level 3 with 2,151 points, a member May 11, 2013) posted the following:


Do you think it's sad how some people become hostile to the message of the gospel, that has saved so many?


And continues to save many, even today? I dont get why people reject the important message it holds, and the lessons on love, humbleness, peace, by being angry and negative about it?

“Jimmie”, here are a few difficult points to consider that nonetheless are correct for Christian believers:

(1.)  All men have not faith (2nd Thessalonians 3:  2, KJV).  The Gospel is sacred substance that is to be joined with the spirit content of created beings and living creatures.  Truth from GOD may only be received by those who have prepared themselves through such features as dutifulness, expectation (we say, hope), obedience, sacrifice, and submission.

(2.)  When Pharaoh saw that there was respite, he hardened his heart (Exodus 8:  15, KJV).  Hardness of heart is an operation of the Spirit from GOD, however, not by acting on, forcing, or manipulating a person’s feelings and thoughts.  Rather, the Holy Spirit acknowledges their enmity against GOD as irreversible without first ending their mortality, or by continued widespread death and destruction.  The Spirit may not righteously disregard or ignore persistent defiance of divine law, rejection of divine counsel, or denial of divine love.  The Spirit is obligated to abandon and make no further appeals where the minds and hearts of created beings and living creatures only invite being sealed against divinity.  Without the “pressure” of judgment, punishment, and divine wrath against sin many will not embrace what are, in fact, the difficult works of confession, repentance and truth. Sinners do not leave their “comfort zone” of arrogance, ignorance, selfish pleasure, and separation from GOD.

(3.)  But they have not all obeyed the gospel (Romans 10:  16, KJV).  To obey is to put aside ones own will to carry out or perform the will of another.  Thus, to obey is one of the most powerful ways of demonstrating love, the willingness to add value, and to unselfishly provide benefit to another.  Those who lack balance, poise, and stability (we say, maturity), and those who do not have a clear grasp of their own abilities, desires, and place in relationships usually also lack the awareness and strength necessary for love of Christ, and obedience to the Gospel.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually understood.  (For example, (4.)  The carnal mind is not subject to the law of God (Romans 8:  7, KJV).  Human makeup (we say, the flesh) is designed to function in accordance with material and physical processes that are mechanical in their nature such as appetite, sensation, and mind.  Just like hunger, thirst, and sexual cravings cannot be eliminated by logic, reason and science, sin can not be overcome except through operations of the Spirit from GOD.  Sin may dominate awareness and self-will in created beings and living creatures, yet, can not control the will of GOD.  The added endowment of Spirit supplied through the Gospel enables believers to correctly resist sin, and to continuously seek the perfection coming forth from GOD.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.  Jesus is coming soon.  Grow in grace.

(03/05/2013) Unless You Repent

     Today’s post addresses the lessons and warnings from Jesus when asked about a recent slaughter of Hebrews by the Romans, and an accident resulting in more than a dozen deaths that was commonly known to have occurred nearby.  The “Yahoo! Answers” Top Contributor using ID “Bruce” (Level 7 with 92,590 points, a member since August 12, 2007) posted the following:


What did Jesus mean about tragic deaths by saying, "Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish"?

Luke 13:Now on the same occasion there were some present who reported to Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were greater sinners than all other Galileans because they suffered this fate? 3 I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. 4 Or do you suppose that those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them were worse culprits than all the men who live in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”


THE BATTLE AXE:  Our Need for a Son (03/04/2013)—A need for knowledge, relationship and right standing with GOD exits within all created beings and living creatures as an aspect of their makeup and substance that pertains to their completeness, perfection and quality as the handiwork of GOD.  By the revelation of himself through flesh in the person of Jesus Christ, the son of GOD from heaven, GOD has further prepared and transformed human awareness so that mankind may eventually display aspects of divine being that include incorruption and immortality.  While the existence of GOD does not result from any thing that has been created, the realms of existence (both heaven and earth) and all they contain are useful (yet unnecessary) as artifacts of divine existence that also make known the extent and continuing operation of divine power, presence and sacred purpose.  (See Psalms 19:  1-6, Revelation 21:  1-8 and Revelation 22:  1-5, King James Version.)

Bruce, may I share a few points that should be helpful?  The many lessons taught by the account from Saint Luke include warnings against those who believe in GOD for salvation becoming complacent, presumptuous, sedentary, and self-satisfied.  For the most correct understanding, a believer should be aware of various issues having influence at that time:

(1) Divisions among the people of Jesus’ day included longstanding ethnic arrogance and racism displayed as enmity between the Jews (i.e., those from the Southern tribes of Judah and Benjamin) and those of the ten tribes to the North that included Galilee.  The separation was not merely on political lines that came by the revolt against the house of David through the person of Rehoboam, son of Solomon.  Following dissolution of the Unified Kingdom, there were many efforts to replace Jerusalem as the center for observances and worship, including the establishment in the North of worship for the Golden Calf from Egypt.

(2) That men should be slaughtered while worshipping GOD was thought to indict their worship (i.e.,  could be taken as evidence that their beliefs were false and their practices idolatrous), cast a light of contradiction, and endorsed spiritual confusion regarding divine judgment, salvation, and other sacred operations of GOD.  Unlike anger and emotions that come and go or frequently shift, the wrath of GOD against sin must be understood as a continuous and permanent aspect of divinity that makes GOD who he is in relationship with all Creation.  Notwithstanding this, the divine provisions for atonement and propitiation of sins also emerge from eternal, unchanging aspects of divinity.

(3) GOD was identified as a direct cause and active agent in all the collective life experience of the covenant people(s).  Birth, death, inheritance, sickness and war were all regularly “explained” as actions by GOD independent of all input from mankind.  The accountability of mankind was thought to go no further than counsels, desires, petitions and prayers.  More than this, human condemnation was seen the result of bad behavior, poor choices and faulty decision making.  Jesus demonstrated that human substance (i.e., such elements as faith, holiness and Spirit) is correctly the primary element determining the life conditions and experience of mankind as well as the duration of human existence.

(4) The purpose of death as the tool of GOD was widely understood as only for the destruction of sinners and the punishment of sin.  Endorsing those teachings that spoke to the completion of human mortality and divine resurrection for the dead, Jesus manifested the use of death to complete judgment and establish eternal life through mechanisms of rebirth and resurrection.  Rather than concern for the recent tragedies, Jesus warned the multitude to have concern for the second death, the lake of fire and the total termination of ones existence.

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, emotionalism, excitement and sensationalism are often our focus and response to events in the flesh.  Our salvation may be rightly embraced only where we yield to the imparted, indwelling Spirit from GOD.  Repentance for sins is not the product of human cravings, feelings, regrets, thoughts and self-will so much as by operation of the Holy Spirit.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.
