Today, reply is on the sacred events (miracles) recorded in the Bible where Joshua is visited by the Captain of the Host, and GOD caused the sun to remain in the sky shining over a battle on the earth. Readers are to understand that GOD is active against sin, and will pursue sacred law through judgment and warfare as one who is jealous, immutable, righteous, and sovereign. The seven tribes that occupied Canaan were in covenant relationship with GOD before Moses and the others left Egypt. GOD promised their territory would be given to the descendants of Abraham, because the seven tribes betrayed their divine covenant partner through pride, idol worship, and sin. All of their peoples were to be removed from the land by Moses, Joshua, and the tribes of Israel. Developing believers and those who mistakenly impose secular knowledge, mechanical process, and natural law upon the sacred events of Scripture repeatedly misapply the accounts provided to make visible the character, eternal purpose, and exalted substance of divinity. The focus of the holy writings are not human conflicts, conquest, and self-promotion; rather, they highlight the appearance and interventions of GOD that make divinity known throughout Creation, existence, and life. It is written: Joshua 10: 10-14, King James Version (KJV): 10 And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah. 11 And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword. 12 Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. 13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. 14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel. If the Bible is divinely inspired by God the creator, why did Joshua ask God to stop the sun in the sky to make the day last longer..?

Instead of asking god to stop the world from turning for a while so he could finish slaughtering the Canaanites?..it is obvious that it was written by someone who thought that the earth was the centre of all creation and the sun revolved around it.

“thesun”, the focus of Scripture is neither mankind nor the earth. Here are some ideas that may be new for many readers, yet, have been available through those in covenant relationships with GOD as carefully preserved oral and written accounts for many centuries. Among mature Christian and Messianic believers astronomical and material Creation, the created beings and living creatures of heaven and earth, all things that have existence and life (angels, animals, spiritual beasts, etc.) are to be understood as instruments and tools used by divinity to express divine prerogative, eternal purpose, sacred presence, and the sovereign will of GOD. The holy writings document the operations, process, and substance of GOD (we also say, divine fullness; the Godhead; the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit) provided as divine order and priesthood that appear both in heaven and on the earth. Divinity remains invisible, incorruptible, and undetectable by finite human tools of the flesh and mind (e.g., smelling, tasting, touching, intellect, logic, carnal reason). Even so, the Bible is a record of GOD appearing on the earth through thousands of events, occurring within thousands of lives, over the course of thousands of years. As companions to divinity, men are to resemble, reflect, and reveal the image of GOD, and the likeness of his character and nature presented in Jesus Christ. Divine fullness is made knowable, known, accessible, and approachable to the living through devices that include discovery, fellowship, gradual growth, judgment, sacred practice (e.g., fasting, offerings, praise, prayer), study, unselfish service, and the endurance of suffering. More than this, the tools of divinity that include birth, damnation, death, and resurrection of the dead also feature imparting sacred substance from the makeup of GOD. Endowments of inseparable aspects of divine fullness are imparted to the living such as balance, completeness, faith, holiness, integrity, longsuffering, lovingkindness, oneness without sameness, personhood, wisdom, and wrath against sin. Consider again the following that uses language from the Bible, and a selection from the music ministry of Wintley Phipps:

(1.) Joshua 5: 13-15, King James Version (KJV): 13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? 14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant? 15 And the captain of the LORD’s host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

Exodus 23: 20-24, KJV: 20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. 21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. 22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries. 23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off. 24 Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.

Shemot 23: 20-24, OJB: 20 Hinei, I send Malach before thee, to be shomer over thee in the derech, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. 21 Pay heed to him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your peysha’im; for My Shem is in him. 22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his [bat] kol, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries. 23 For My Malach shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Emori, and the Chitti, and the Perizzi, and the Kena’ani, the Chivi, and the Yevusi; I will cut them off. 24 Thou shalt not bow down to their elohim, nor serve them, nor follow after their works; but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and completely break down their matztzvot (memorial columns dedicated to idols).

(3.) 1^st Timothy 3: 16, KJV: 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Timotiyos I 3: 16, OJB: 16 And confessedly great is the sod of chasidus [in Moshiach 3:9], who was manifested in basar, was vindicated [proven just] by the Ruach HaKodesh, was seen by malachim, was proclaimed among the Nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in kavod.

(05/26/2017) David, Goliath and GOD

Today, focus is on the account of David and Goliath that appears within the Bible as part of the full revelation of GOD.  While the precipitating events that resulted in the death of Goliath were little more than name-calling and taunting Israel to challenge them in battle, Goliath represented and was the “stand-in” for all the Philistines, and was condemned as guilty before GOD their Maker and Judge as being idolatrous, lawless, rebellious, and unrepentant.  As a foreshadowing to the coming of Jesus Christ, the express will of GOD (we say, the law) was made incarnate, and appeared having material form as a shepherd boy, who served as an officer of the Divine Court (the Executioner).  That a teenager (David) would be used on a battle-field against a veteran soldier who had physical stature as a giant was to make clearly visible to Israel, the Philistines, and all mankind that GOD will impose judgment upon created beings and living creatures, and will operate as the highest authority, power, and sovereign-will present in human affairs.  The fighter at “Yahoo! Answers” who uses the ID “Kumquat May” (Level 6 with 10,357 points, a member since April 17, 2012) posted the following:


The bible says thou shall not kill and turn the other cheek but when david brains Goliath dead with a rock suddenly he's a great guy?

Goliath's five year old daughter: "Mummy, mummy, when's daddy coming home. I made a thing in school out of pasta that says world's best dad!"

Mrs Goliath: "Sit down, my poor daughter, I have terrible news. Daddy won't be coming home. He was murdered at work today. Some short man called David threw a rock at his temple and he died having a seizure in the dirt. You'll never see Daddy again, and now we no income it's prostitution for me and slavery for you, if David's army don't rape and kill us before that happens"

Goliath's five year old daughter: " Noooooo! But won't the Lord punish him, Mum, he's against that sort of thing? It's one of the commandments"

Mrs Goliath: "No dear, not this time. I've already heard he's mind controlling one of his zombie writers to put it in his book about how great the man who murdered your father was"

“Kumquat May”, in the account of David and Goliath, GOD is the Judge, and David is a legitimate officer of the divine court, the Executioner.  Among mature Christian believers the account of David and Goliath is received as part of the full revelation and “self-disclosure” whereby the active presence who is GOD is made knowable, known, and “visible” to created beings and living creatures.  The Bible displays the operations of GOD upon the earth from a divine perspective—that is, using thousands of events, within thousands of lives, over the course of thousands of years.  Taken from its context, spiritual confusion surrounds that and many other accounts.  Often “David and Goliath” has been presented as merely a story or adventure tale to amuse and entertain, as questionable secular history from the Middle East, and as a peculiar form of communication using diverse literary and poetic devices (e.g., allegory, epic, hyperbole, metaphor, symbolism).  Dominated by their appetite, emotion, sensation and mental functions (we say, the flesh) awareness and self-will directs a listener or reader to focus primarily on elements such as the heroism, weakness, vulnerability, and youth of David, or the arrogance, cruelty, prowess and size of Goliath.  In effect, mockers, scoffers, sinners and unbelievers remain blind, and fail to see the actions and operations of the account’s most important figure, GOD.  They would have to be “born again” in order to clearly discern, recognize, and properly respond to the account as imparting spirit content from the makeup of GOD (such as faith, holiness, hope, longsuffering, wisdom, wrath against sin).  Using their own endowment of life essence from GOD (we also say, breath, spirit, word), the listener/reader as a new creation will experience the account as demonstrating divine integrity, righteousness in covenant relationship, the fulfillment of promise and performance of duty, and the inarguable authority, prerogative and privilege of the Creator that may appear as deliverance, judgment, salvation and victory.  Consider the following from the Bible:

(1.)  1st Samuel 17:  33-37, King James Version (KJV):  33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him:  for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.  34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:  35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth:  and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.  36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear:  and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.  37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

(2.)  1st Samuel 17:  45-48, KJV:  45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield:  but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.  46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.  47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear:  for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hands.

Judgment, justice, and tricks of the enemy in spiritual warfare are topics, today.  A “Yahoo! Answers” fighter using the ID “Bruce” (Level 7 with 101,630 points, a member since August 13, 2007) posted the following:


Was Herod the Great, who ordered the massacre of the innocents, welcomed into heaven or sent off to hell?

Besides ordering the murder of all children under 2 in Bethlehem, Herod executed his wife, her mother, and three of his children. There is not even a hint that he had the slightest pang of conscience in his murderous rampage, let alone repented (which would have been headline news in ancient Jerusalem). I'm just wondering how far my Christian friends will go with the retort than only God can judge. Hasn't he already judged?

“Bruce”, here are a few points many Christian believers consider when challenged to engage in spiritual warfare:

(1.)  Those who know and respect the law of GOD also know the penalties, precepts, principles, and sanctions declared through the law.  Because divine law is the “expressed will of GOD,” there is no question whether GOD’s final sentence in judgment will contradict the proclamations of law.

(2.)  The “sneak attack” against the law is often a distraction to turn the battle away from the blasphemy against divine righteousness.  Great damage is done through the suggestion that men (or angels) can be more compassionate, fair, impartial, merciful, and unbiased than GOD.  Divine love and eternal life are the priorities of divinity; therefore, such sacred operations as correction, forgiveness, incarnation, rebirth, regeneration, salvation, and sanctification appear.

(3.)  Believers are cautioned to understand that sin operates upon the awareness and self-will of created beings and living creatures using  subtleties (i.e., barely visible differences, hidden shifts in value and meaning).  Sin opposes the continued existence of divine law, of the Law Giver, and of all divine order generated by law.  Relying upon such finite human tools as intellect, logic, mathematics, reason, and science, sin can not be detected, eliminated, or resisted.

There is far more to be said, correctly understood, and spiritually apprehended.  For example, (4.)  What appears as a thrust and condemnation against Herod, in fact, can be a challenge to prophecy and divine revelation, that replaces knowledge of divine events and sacred process with expressions of human feeling and thought.  Believers know the mind of Christ only by having experienced the full power of baptism (death of ones inborn spirit, and rebirth having an endowment of spirit content from the makeup of GOD).  Thus, the answer to every question about who goes to heaven is declared in Christ harvesting the earth at his appearing.  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

Divine authority to prevent sin among the angels is the topic, today; and there is more on choosing what we view determines peace of mind.  The “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “^” (Level 6 with 15,389 points, a member since May 20, 2012) posted the following that was originally asked at Yahoo Answers Canada:


Could God have prevented Satan (or any Angel) from sinning by giving them Commandments?

Whether God knew Satan would sin or not could God have prevented the fall of the Angels if God had given them commandments? If God could not prevent sin then He is not all powerful, right? And if God did not want to prevent sin then He is evil, right?


THE BATTLE AXE:  We Shall Behold Him (10/17/2013)—(4.)  While Christian believers are commanded to speak about unseen things claiming victory and operating with confidence despite negative conditions and set backs that appear as reality, their optimism is not a matter of fantasy, folly or foolishness.  Believers are cooperating with divine actions on their behalf, and doing all within their own power as necessary and positive action that will bring forth the fruit they desire, carry them to their goals, and resolve recurring problems.  Believers are not idle, inactive,  “lying to themselves” or to others.  (5.)  The battle is the Lord’s.  To become truly mature and perfected created beings and living creatures all must grow and gain strength by overcoming emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual challenges and obstacles.  For many it is unseen that what they endure is preparation for great blessing, or may be a work intended to make the glory of GOD visible to others, not to themselves.  Nonetheless, all that believers endure is no more than what exists within the framework for human thought and feeling.  See 1st Samuel 12:  16-24, 2nd Chronicles 20:  14-17, Psalms 119:  71 and 75, 1st Corinthians 10:  13, John 9:  1-3, King James Version.

It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.  Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.  Is the law then against the promises of God? “^”, here are a few points to consider that agree with Bible teachings about angels, law, and sin:

(1.)  Divine law is eternal as a personal expression of sacred being, and has always existed, however, not in the form of written codes, recorded judgments, legislation, ordinances and statutes.

(2.)  Law is manifest as the details of process for immutable and unchanging divine operations as well as for divine intent, action in accordance with sovereign proclamation, and the fulfillment of sacred promise.  Law is present within the living relationships of divinity through such aspects as continuity, focus, regularity, righteousness, truth, wisdom, and wrath against sin.

(3.)  As demonstrated first through Adam and Eve, later through the Son of the Highest upon the earth, obedience to divine authority and sacred law does not require having foreknowledge of future events (e.g., consequences, damages, losses or punishments), full knowledge of divine mind, or using such elements as intellect, logic, reason and sensation (e.g., hearing, seeing, tasting).  Obedience was to emerge by such features of relationship as intimacy, love, openness, respect, reverence, and trust.

(4.)  GOD is a being whose make-up is entirely of spirit substance.  Inseparable aspects of divinity include faith, holiness, joy, and perfection.  Sin, that exists for created beings and living creatures, appears as an artifact or residue of non-being, and does not exist with influence and power for Divine Person.  Sin has not been created by GOD, has no spirit content, and is only known to be present through created beings and living creatures that fail in right relationship with GOD.  Sin is without dimensions, form, and spirit substance; however, sin has direction, effect and presence.  Sin is not an aspect of life essence, yet, may dominate awareness and self-will in angels, men, and other finite beings.

There is far more to be said, correctly understood, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (5.)  Sin opposes the continued existence of GOD, of divine law, and of all that has been created.  Nonetheless, finite beings embrace sin as an aspect of their own full person, and do not immediately recognize sin as foreign, strange, from outside themselves, and contrary to their own nature.  Finite self-will is not sufficient to detect, eliminate or even properly resist sin.  Through the ministry of Jesus Christ, mankind now may be born again, and receive fresh endowments of divine substance and sinless will.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.
