“Nicola”, many Christian believers would agree that the crucifixion of a man as the figure representing all Creation has been a singular sacred event to re-establish the possibility for a personal and intimate relationship between divinity and all created beings and living creatures. Where we acknowledge the operations of human error and sin among us, the language describing a “great gulf” between mankind and GOD is neither exaggerated, nor inappropriate. Strong terms must be used to indicate the many extremes that come into view.
Sin has not been created by GOD; and is no material or tangible thing that exists. Sin has no fixed form having measurable dimensions (e.g., breadth, depth, height, length, weight, width), yet, sin has direction, effect, and “presence”; and may dominate awareness and self-will in the living. Sin opposes the continued existence of divine law, the Law Giver, and the ordered universe established through sacred law.
Sin can not be eliminated or removed using the finite tools of mankind such as intellect, logic, philosophy, and science; and, while divine law makes sin known and visible, law alone does not terminate sin. This being said, death as a penalty through the law may terminate a sinner; however, the consequences and outcomes of their sin will continue indefinitely. Consider again the Scriptures that serve as a connecting span to mature spiritual understanding:
(1.) Ephesians 6: 12-13, King James Version (KJV): 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
(2.) 1st Corinthians 1: 18-24, KJV: 18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: 23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; 24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
