(02/04/2014) Sin Causes Death?

Some points on how death, law, and sin are interwoven are  considered, today.  Also, there is more using U. S. currency to speak about full acceptance of Old and New Testament writings.  A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “Kelvin” (Level 3 with 1,219 points, a member since August 17, 2013) posted the following:

In Christianity, is sin the cause of death?

It says in Rom. 5:12
"Just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned"

So spiritually speaking, death came to us because we sinned. Did I understand this correctly, or is it interpreted differently? Thanks

THE BATTLE AXE:  Obliged to Disregard? (02/03/2014)—(5.)  Just as signatures for the United States Treasurer and Secretary of the Treasury are affixed to each Federal Reserve Note on one side, yet applies to the other side and to every legitimate note issued, the motto, In GOD We Trust, only appears on one side of a U. S. Federal Reserve Note, yet is to be understood as in effect in all transactions where the note is used.  The many associations and historical meanings that are always an aspect of U. S. currency are invisible to those who experience only brief, or casual contact as users who “pass it on.”  Thus, many miss the appearance of the Star of David on the U. S. one dollar bill as a memorial in gratitude proposed by George Washington to acknowledge the invaluable financial assistance from Jewish supporters of the Revolution that helped establish the Nation.  A principle is in place that our knowledge of such fascinating facts and fine details come only by continuous growth and learning.  Applied to our duty as Christian believers accountable for both old and new covenant truth, there absolutely must be careful study of the holy writings.  Similar to our error in thinking the New Testament annuls, destroys or replaces the Old Testament, at some point in our growth as Christian believers, many make the mistake of thinking that, because we now have received the Holy Spirit, we no longer need the Bible and other holy writings.  Having discernment, believers realize this is no different than an admonition, never believe that we do not need one another:  Forsake not the assembling of ourselves together.  (See Ephesians 2:  8-22, Hebrews 10:  19-29 and Hebrews 11:  32-40, KJV.)

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)  Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.  For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.  Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound.  But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:  That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.  (Romans 5:  17-21, KJV)

“Kelvin”, there are many points of truth that must be fitted together for a complete and correct answer to your question; and, for Christian belief the simple language of “cause” and “effect” must often be avoided.  Here are few points that usually pierce the enemies of the cross, yet, should prove useful as believers continue their studies:

(1.)  For many, sin is an artifact (some say, by-product, or unintended result) that came by establishment of multiple created beings and living creatures having awareness and self-will that operate as distanced, separate and set apart from the Creator.  Others hold that sin is an artifact of divine law, the expressed or spoken will of GOD.   (They avow, where there is no law, there can be no transgression).  Also, it is believed that sin is a residue of the chaos and disorder that was in place before Creation.

(2.)  Sin is not a material or spirit substance from GOD, or anything fashioned by the Maker.  As such human intellect, logic, reason and science are useless to remove sin.  Sin may be detected and recognized using tools provided by GOD, however, sin can not be suddenly eliminated without a total upheaval of all cosmic and divine order.  Sin has no dimension or divine substance, yet, sin has direction, effect and presence.  Sin opposes the continued existence of all divine law, of the Law Giver, and of all Creation.

(3.)  Mankind was fashioned as mortal, and subject to completion through death.  Holy angels (called, ministering spirits), sacred beasts and others that appear in the place of full divine presence (we say, heaven) were fashioned as neither mortal nor immortal, and are totally different from mankind as life forms.  Sin was first discovered among the holy angels as opposition to divine law, and later appears as defiance, rebellion, and corruption of mankind through deceit and unlawful influence.  All living beings endure as vessels bearing divinity, and expressions of divine prerogative.

There is far more to be said, properly shared, and spiritually understood.  (For example, (4.)  Through the ministries of Jesus Christ, mankind is being transformed, and will ultimately become immortal and incorruptible, not subject to sin.  At this time, believers receive fresh endowments of divine love and spirit content (we say, an imparted, indwelling Spirit, the Holy Ghost) that operates as the will of GOD, and establishes greater resistance to sin.  Despite continued challenges and problems all face due to sin, a believer’s eternal life has already begun; and death is only a temporary interruption, or sleep.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.
