(02/05/2014) Succession

Apostolic succession is the topic today, along with more on the relationships among death, law and sin.  The “Yahoo! Answers” writer using the ID “badwolf” (Level 1 with 65 points, a member since September 21, 2013) posted the following first asked at Yahoo Answers UK & Ireland:

THE BATTLE AXE:  Sin Causes Death? (02/04/2014)—(5.)  Both the living and the dead come under the condemnation generated by sin.  Only by salvation wrought through Jesus Christ are they released by processes of divine judgment.  The existence of all created beings and living creatures may be terminated through peculiar operations established by GOD as judgment.  Given that all created beings and living creatures contain spirit matter that is the same substance appearing as full divinity, consecrated person, and GODhead, death only may be described as a condition, a material process, and a “state of being” for mortals and for others endowed with life from GOD who are not immortal as GOD.  While the divine aspect within us is everlasting and “indestructible,” and death may still be spoken of as a supernatural force, death is not a divine person, and should not be thought of as an entity having awareness (some say, sentience) and self-will like every human being.  By their transgression, Adam embraced a continual erosion of the divine content that had been imparted to humanity. In addition to the loss of protective outer coverings for beauty and majesty, and changes in the living environment for the pair, various aspects of divinity had to be removed immediately that enabled fulfillment of commandments and sacred law, resistance to allurements and separation from GOD as well as a complete inner immune system.  As a result, mortals all undergo continuous carnal changes that result in debility and death, yet, are not instantaneous outcomes of sinful attitudes, behavior and conduct, and that repeatedly appear without further direct action by GOD (e.g., aging, disease, injury, reproduction, sickness, loss of stamina, and reduced vigor).  Also, by the influence and presence of sin, there has been a continual loss of the spirit matter once deposited within mankind.  Through the ministry of Jesus Christ, believers receive a fresh endowment of divinity; and are supplied with inseparable aspects for life that include faith, forgiveness, gratitude, holiness, humility, joy, longsuffering, love, wisdom, and wrath against sin.  Seeing with new eyes, sin is not so much a cause of death as a necessary force that directs men to seek life, long for relationships that build and maintain trust, and to lay hold upon the salvation of GOD in Christ.  See Ecclesiastes 12:  1-7, Ezekiel 18:  30-32 and Ezekiel 33:  11-19, King James Version.

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.  Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;  He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.  This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.  Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.  For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,  Until I make thy foes thy footstool.  Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.  (Acts 2:  29-36, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  Hierarchy (11/14/2013); The Benefit of Law? (11/15/2013); GOD Grants License? (06/21/2013); Origin of Baptism? (06/22/2013); Money-changers in The Temple? (06/23/2013); The Golden Age? (01/10/2013); Translation, Please… (01/11/2013); The Priesthood of Kings (10/17/2012)

“badwolf”, I can share only a few of the principles intended for those who are saved and set apart through service to Jesus Christ, here.  At the risk of challenging everyone more than they can handle, even so, you and your readers may consider the following:

(1.)  Apostolic succession comes into view as the process used by Matthew, Peter, James and the others to replace Judas, and maintain the full complement of 12 “official” witnesses of the Lord’s resurrection.  Candidates are first identified, and one is selected for consecration by sacred events occurring among the body of believers that are performed by the Holy Spirit.  This may include a “casting of lots” where divine will is revealed by the appearance of specific peculiar outcomes that would be improbable and unlikely to result by chance.  (See Acts 1 and 2, KJV.)

(2.)  Succession is understood as another form of birthright or legacy (some would say, inheritance).  Intimate and personal relationship for created beings and living creatures who are finite and temporal are continued with eternal and omnipotent GOD through sacred devices and operations.  Included are anointing, baptism, birth, covenant, death, divine law, dynasty, judgment, nation, praise, prayer, promise, prophecy, rebirth, and sexual reproduction.

There is far more to be said, properly shared, and spiritually understood.  (For example, (3.)  The origins of succession were tied to the natural appearance of authority within the head of family, and is to be seen with the Patriarchs that followed Seth as the one appointed to the priesthood granted by GOD to Adam.  The priesthood was confirmed in Able through fire from heaven that consumed his sacrifice, rather than that of Cain.  The judges who appeared as deliverers were not chosen and established using succession.  As with the anointing of David by Samuel, and the dispensation for Solomon, the anointing in apostolic succession is an appointment as elder, king, priest, prophet, and judge. (That’s why the 24 elders have crowns.))  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:  Fear God, and keep his commandments:  for this is the whole duty of man.  For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.  (Ecclesiastes 12:  13-14, KJV)
