Doesn’t God punishing people for politely declining his blessings defeat the point of them being gifts?

(09/16/2012)—The aspects of human experience that dominate our thinking and understanding are primarily appetite (such as hunger, thirst, sexual cravings), sensation (such as hearing, smelling, seeing, tasting), and desire (such operations of mind as fantasy, imagination, projection, recall). Our human awareness and consciousness must be changed to recognize things that are totally spiritual in their nature and substance. GOD must establish a complete reconfiguration of our inner being, and so we say, a person must be “born again.” This is not accomplished by human intellect and thought. In fact, it is spoken of as “non-sense”; and proceeds within us by the person of GOD being present as imparted, indwelling spirit. In its simplest statement, the Gospel declares the release of mankind from sin as a continuing aspect of human existence through the death and resurrection of GOD incarnate (i.e., in the flesh as a human). This rebirth requires spirit substance that itself makes up the Divine Being (e.g., faith, holiness, righteousness, truth, wisdom, wrath against sin). We speak of the Holy Spirit (also called the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, the Spirit of Prophecy) as having been given to mankind to acknowledge and confirm the work of Jesus in the earth, on behalf of both GOD and man. This peculiar aspect from the full person of GOD, the Holy Spirit, now operates upon and within those who seek right relationship with GOD through Jesus Christ.

Because you are thinking “after the flesh” instead of “after the spirit,” it is difficult (and apparently painful) for you to grasp the sacred meaning, and process of GOD. You are still using ideas from carnal, material and social reality to speak about things that are entirely spiritual in their nature and substance. Once you achieve the emotional and mental control that is part of being born again, and “growing up again” to become spiritually mature, you will see that the language of “gifts from GOD” is merely a device to assist those who are underdeveloped, and immature. GOD must commune with men at their level as created beings and living creatures. To speak of “gifts” is only useful to begin ones spiritual learning in the same way “mama” and “dada” are used, and with growth are discarded. Similarly, memorizing ABCs is a great achievement for a small child, yet one still cannot read and write until they learn to combine and recombine letters of the alphabet.
Your anger, condemnation, distrust, fear, frustration, and pain are not from GOD–they are aspects of your expression as someone caught in the human predicament. As a result, you do not appear to have the Holy Spirit from GOD that is necessary to convince you of this. Where you truly want to achieve a correct relationship with GOD as your Creator, your Savior, your Father, you will have to approach him in prayer showing humility and respect. You will have to ask for his guidance, even claiming all the benefit from the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, “death,” “joy” “punishment” and “eternal life” are terms that have special meaning to mature believers that is hidden from those who are beginners. As men on the earth, in human communication, we are forced to use “bananas for watermelons,” so to speak. Putting aside all differences (size, shape, weight), the two are exactly the same: both are green (at first), both are fruit, both have exactly the same function of bearing seed. Just as sin cannot be eliminated from a person’s life (and our prisons cannot be emptied and shut down) simply on the basis of “common sense,” debate, logic, and reason, the salvation of GOD through Jesus cannot be understood and fully received into a person’s life simply by intellectual exercise (dialogue, research, study). Rightly understood, sin is no material or spirit “thing” that has been created by GOD. Sin has neither “dimension” nor “substance;” yet, sin has “effect”, “direction” and “presence”. Sin may dominate the will of created beings and living creatures; however, sin has no influence upon the will of GOD. Sin opposes the continuing existence of GOD, and all that GOD has Created.
Among many, many things, the Gospel teaches that, through Jesus Christ, mankind receives an added measure of the Spirit of GOD. This imparted, indwelling spirit, transforms human nature, and, releases mankind from sin as a continuing aspect of existence. To actually understand the Gospel, ones spiritual awareness must be reconfigured, and so we say, one must be “born again.”
There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, GOD is a spirit, sin is not. Apart from GOD, created beings and living creatures DO NOT detect sin as something foreign or separate, and destructive of their own being. Therefore, they account all of their own attitudes, behavior and conduct to such elements as appetite, desire, chance, destiny, pride, and self-control. The covenant of Moses introduced divine law written in stone by the finger of GOD, and the bond of divine nation in the earth along with memorial and sacrificial worship. For us today, the body of all previous covenants are subsumed within the accord instituted by Jesus Christ. The covenant of the New Testament is a final and eternal covenant, a covenant that cannot be improved upon. There will be no further covenants making comprehensive response to Creation’s need for divine provisions that address access to GOD, atonement, death, forgiveness, judgment, love, priesthood, rebirth, regeneration, resurrection, salvation, and sanctification.

The Holy Spirit teaches that the birth, life and death of Jesus are a single, indivisible appearance of GOD in flesh (called by many “the Incarnation”) that completes a peculiar aspect of divine revelation. A comprehensive display of Divine Person is made whereby the makeup of GOD is shown. Included are such abiding sacred substance as faith, holiness, humility, love, righteousness, wisdom, and wrath against sin. While Jesus is appointed as Judge, and fulfills a holy priesthood to establish atonement and propitiation for sin, the focus of his ministry is transforming the existence of created beings and living creatures to be a permanent feature within divinity—we say, that they may have eternal life.
Part of the great difficulty with sin is that sin has not been created by GOD; is no carnal, material or spirit thing; and has no independent identity or person. Sin is without dimension and divine substance, yet sin has effect and presence, and influences the will of created beings and living creatures (e.g., angels, animals, demons, men). THE BATTLE AXE: The Backslider (09/13/2012)—Where backsliding is apostasy, denial and the total dissolution of covenant comes into view as opposed to simply transgressing, trespassing, or violating laws maintained within covenant. The contract for Israel through Moses was not the first covenant, and is to be understood as another in a line of sacred agreements with GOD that had embraced the Patriarchs Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Jacob. The covenant of Moses introduced divine law written in stone by the finger of GOD, and the bond of divine nation in the earth along with memorial and sacrificial worship. For us today, the body of all previous covenants are subsumed within the accord instituted by Jesus Christ. The covenant of the New Testament is a final and eternal covenant, a covenant that cannot be improved upon. There will be no further covenants making comprehensive response to Creation’s need for divine provisions that address access to GOD, atonement, death, forgiveness, judgment, love, priesthood, rebirth, regeneration, resurrection, salvation, and sanctification.

The Holy Spirit teaches that the birth, life and death of Jesus are a single, indivisible appearance of GOD in flesh (called by many “the Incarnation”) that completes a peculiar aspect of divine revelation. A comprehensive display of Divine Person is made whereby the makeup of GOD is shown. Included are such abiding sacred substance as faith, holiness, humility, love, righteousness, wisdom, and wrath against sin. While Jesus is appointed as Judge, and fulfills a holy priesthood to establish atonement and propitiation for sin, the focus of his ministry is transforming the existence of created beings and living creatures to be a permanent feature within divinity—we say, that they may have eternal life.

When “falling away” is spoken of “apostasy” and rejection of the Holy Spirit come into view, and no remedy or repentance is possible. Repentance is an operation of divine substance whereby the content of being and spirit are altered, and is not merely a change in ones attitude or thoughts (what we might call a “change of mind”).
A stern warning is offered by the Apostle Paul, who uses the strongest language: we crucify Christ afresh. Like blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, that cannot be forgiven in this world or the next, falling away is final and permanent in its effect. Without acknowledging both Jesus and the Holy Spirit (also called the Comforter, the Spirit of Prophecy, and the Spirit of Truth), believers are without the “unction” that establishes continuous growth in godliness (see 1st John 2: 18-29, King James Version).

(09/11/2012)—When it comes to prayer being answered, the big problem is not that GOD condemns all mankind as a bunch of knuckleheads, “pukes” and black hearted sinners. It is not that GOD does not hear our requests, does not take us seriously, or feels we are too far beneath him that he should respect us with any answer. As human beings we typically approach GOD asking for what we have, and desiring divine acceptance of the answer that already is in our own heads! What we want from GOD is something that we ourselves have composed and created within our own thoughts, fantasies and imagination. Yet, what GOD prefers to impart to us are answers from the Sacred Heart, and Supernal Wisdom. So to speak, there must be conflict resolution (judgment), and a “meeting of the minds.” Thus, prayer is a necessary process for correction, realignment and reconciliation whereby created beings and living creatures are made further acceptant of divine will. Prayer does not alter, manipulate or sway divinity. Instead, the one who prays is encouraged and permitted to move from levels of fleshly focus to spiritual realization of divine presence. Before we mature in our regular practice of prayer, we are prone to approach GOD as a “heavenly buffet,” and our goal is to get several helpings, have “some of everything,” and not be forced to leave a generous tip. Later we grasp that prayer is opportunity for dutiful sacrifice, wherein believers generously give forth honor, glory, praise, thanksgiving and tribute, gracious words that go forth as the calves of our lips. Intercession, and the prayers of others can be very important to our needs being acknowledged, properly recognized, and met in a timely way. The full body of believers is further awakened, called to spiritual action, and unified through the need of a single member.

Be encouraged! For many in America, today, September 11, 2012, is a day for gratitude, memorial, mourning, and continued resolve against terrorism. As I considered what I might share with readers, I realized some might regard the questions I respond to as silly or stupid. They might think the persons who post them are childish and foolish. They might feel the questions are too basic, and that the person asking should already know. It remains that there may be many weak, and poor questions; however, every answer given must be clear, godly, mature, and righteous, serving as an evidence of things unseen.
Response to the often asked question on why prayers sometimes are not answered, and more on prophecy, prophets and Nostradamus are shared, today. The “Yahoo! Answers” writer using ID “Jake” (Level 1 with 1 point, a member since April 9, 2012) posted the following:

Almighty GOD, in fact, is visible by the Creation; and therefore, we are correct in thinking that the actions, feelings and thoughts of created beings and living creatures convey aspects of divine fullness. Where prophecy discloses a chain of sacred events, this is often primarily as a recurring pattern from operation of the GODhead. What “GOD will do” is “what GOD has done.” Divine Person is made accessible, alive, approachable, and knowable. Reality becomes constant, defined and stable. Exotic ideas, nonconformity, novelty, and strangeness are often experienced as excitement, freedom, energy, power, and release. To the extent this is so, mankind will continue to value fortune-tellers, magicians, seers, and soothsayers such as Nostradamus, despite their inability to provide the purest revelation of GOD. A genuine prophet is always a spokesperson for a god; and Nostradamus does not continue the line of prophets begun in Moses, continued in Samuel, and enhanced as apostles of Jesus. While the ideas and predictions of Nostradamus may continue to hold interest, Nostradamus should never be regarded as a true prophet; and for Christian believers, the detailed knowledge of Nostradamus will be an instance of “beer in my milk.”

To the extent you are depending on material answers to prayer, you are not yet grounded in faith, and life in the Holy Spirit. Before the imparted, indwelling Spirit of GOD rules within the believer, the flesh (appetite such as hunger, thirst, sexual arousal; sensation such as hearing, seeing, smelling, touching; and faculties of mind such as desire, imagination, recall, thought) dominates human consciousness. Awareness of the certain reality for the truth of GOD that has been revealed through Jesus Christ results by the operation of spirit substance that must reside within a believer. Deposited directly from GOD are such aspects of divine person as faith, hope, humility, joy, righteousness, wisdom, and wrath against sin.
The Scriptures repeatedly show that the process of seeking counsel from GOD demands the spirit-content of discernment, longsuffering (i.e., willingness to endure hardship), meekness, obedience, patience, openness to change, and unselfishness. Response to a request made today may be delivered two weeks, a month, or ten years from now. Statements made to a believer, that have the force and value of a promise, may be fulfilled long after their death, and through divine provisions for their continuing generations (like the answer given Abraham). Most importantly, the response of GOD is likely to be on a divine scale, and address the needs of an entire congregation, the full assembly of believers (quick and dead), or all created beings and living creatures (like the answer given Daniel).
