How many chances does Jesus give a person to change?
THE BATTLE AXE: What He Died For (09/14/2012)—The death of Jesus was not to provide a license for mankind to multiply irreverence and sinful acts. Higher, holier aims are achieved: The death of Jesus further identifies mankind as a divine creation in the earth having a unique estate before GOD, separate from that of those cast into the earth as having lost place in heaven and within the fullness of divine kingdom. While atonement and propitiation for sin goes forward, demands in sacred law are met that accomplish the “purchase” of mankind, the unimpeachable declaration of divine ownership of humanity and the earth, and demonstration of the sovereign authority and power held by Almighty GOD. Adam and Eve were encouraged by words from GOD, that one of their offspring would accomplish a peculiar atonement for sin, and that the inheritance that was to be theirs, would be restored. Jesus, the second Adam, fulfills all of the divine words of promise and prophecy from the time of Adam to the present day. The eternal work of divine revelation begun long before the creation of mankind in the earth, is to continue, uninterrupted, throughout the coming ages among the living, and upon the earth.
THE GOLDEN ARROW: Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their backs, and slew thy prophets which testified against them to turn them to thee, and they wrought great provocations. Therefore thou deliveredst them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and according to thy manifold mercies thou gavest them saviours, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies. But after they had rest, they did evil again before thee: therefore leftest thou them in the land of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them: yet when they returned, and cried unto thee, thou heardest them from heaven; and many times didst thou deliver them according to thy mercies; And testifiedst against them, that thou mightest bring them again unto thy law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, but sinned against thy judgments, (which if a man do, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear. Yet many years didst thou forbear them, and testifiedst against them by thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the people of the lands. (Nehemiah 9: 26-30, KJV)

Rightly understood, human beings are given only a single opportunity—their own lifetime—to accomplish perfection before GOD, and a single opportunity—the lifetime of Jesus. As the initial condition describing life for all mankind, mortality is finite, temporary, and may be completed as a fact in harmony both with the natural world, and “the course of human events.” Through Jesus Christ, believers are transformed through spiritual rebirth, regeneration, and sanctification and are established in the condition of eternal life, both prior to their completing mortality, and before incorruptibility and immortality are bestowed. Men, animals and other living creatures in the earth are mortal. The created beings and living creatures that dwell in the presence of GOD, including the angels and sacred beasts of heaven, are neither mortal, nor immortal. Those beings are subject to the second death, however; and their existence may be terminated using the lake of fire. Following judgment against the wicked, mortality will cease to exist.
Individuals only achieve the goals of perfection through the operation of the Spirit of GOD, the same Spirit that is active in Creation. Included are (1) the reconfiguration of ones awareness and animal nature whereby appetite, desire, and sensation are rendered no longer dominant; (2) the infusion of substance from divine person (such as faith, grace, joy, humility, love, longsuffering, righteousness, peace, truth, wisdom, and wrath against sin); (3) the transformation of human will to reject every influence in conflict against GOD; and (4) every believer is sealed as the purchased possession of GOD.
There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, mortality is restored to those that must appear in judgment. Charges are not made or examined in the absence of an offender. Resurrection is extended to all the dead (the good, bad, and ugly); and all mortality is removed once judgment is determined.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.
