(02/22/2016) Draped Upon The Cross?

Scripture points on the meaning of a purple cloth draped upon the cross are shared, today.  Divinity appeared incarnate (we say, in flesh, having a mortal body) upon the cross to fulfill prophecy, and promises that GOD would judge and rule over his people chosen from among mankind.  Their transformation to become life companions with divinity (we say, eternal life) has begun through rebirth, and ongoing operations of the Holy Spirit that will be completed as believers are taken up to meet the Savior in the air when Christ appears to reap his harvest from the earth.  Every earthly kingdom grounded in finite and material existence continues to respond to the divine monarchy of Jesus as did Rome, the one-world empire of its day.  Consider again the following Bible verses, and the presentation below:

Psalms 45:  3-7, King James Version (KJV):  3 Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty.  4 And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.  5 Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king’s enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.  6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever:  the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.  7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness:  therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

John 6:  11-15, KJV:  11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.  12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.  13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.  14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.  15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

Matthew 27:  27-31, KJV:  27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.  28 And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.  29 And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand:  and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!  30 And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.  31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

Revelation 19:  11-16, KJV:  11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.  12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.  13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood:  and his name is called The Word of God.  14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.  15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations:  and he shall rule them with a rod of iron:  and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.  16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

What does the purple cloth on the cross mean?

Every year around Good Friday and Easter I notice purple cloth draped on crosses outside of churches. What is the significance of the cloth and also the purple. I know that around Easter churches sometime perform passion plays. Does the purple denote “passion” or something else? Only genuine, knowledgeable replies, Please.

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.  This title then read many of the Jews:  for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city:  and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.  Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.  Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.  Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat:  now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.  They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be:  that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
(John 19:  19-24, KJV)

“Sunny1121”, through operations of the Holy Spirit, blood and truth from the cross are flowing despite time and space to here and now.  Many mature Christian believers accept the cross draped in purple as a further proclamation that, by his crucifixion and resurrection, Jesus is exalted to be ruler over an “everlasting kingdom” from GOD revealed in prophecy through King David, and uncovered to comfort Daniel while Israel was removed from the Promised Land by the Babylonians.  (Prophecy of the kingdom was begun in Moses, where Christ is called “Shiloh” (Peace), and would be carried forward because GOD himself would become acknowledged as Israel’s true king.)  The Lord’s earthly ministry was not intended to see him installed as monarch over Israel in the place of King Herod, who served as a “figure-head” and tool for the government of Rome.  The credentials and genealogy of Jesus also identified the Savior as the lawful heir and Son of David.  That Roman soldiers gambled for his priestly garment while he hung upon the cross is to depict the lowliness of mankind before the Father in heaven.  The divine covering lost by Adam in Eden can only be restored through the operations of GOD that also require atonement and rebirth to establish a covering for sins.  Consider how this is stated in the language of the holy writings:

(1.)  Genesis 49:  10, King James Version (KJV):  10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

(2.)  Psalms 145:  10-13, KJV:  10 All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee.  11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;  12 To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.  13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.

(3.)  1st Chronicles 29:  10-13, KJV:  10 Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation:  and David said, Blessed be thou, LORD God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.  11 Thine, O LORD is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty:  for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all.  12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all.  13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.

(4.)  Daniel 7:  13-14, KJV:  13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.  14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him:  his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

There is far more to be said, understood, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (5.) John 18:  36-38, KJV:  36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world:  if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews:   but now is my kingdom not from hence.  37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.  38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.
