Today, divine and human “free will” are in discussion. The writer “redwire” posted the following at “Yahoo! Answers:”
If god has free will can god sin?
if god is perfect it is reasonable to assume he cant create anything imperfectly. (perfect as in cant be better) so if we can sin because we have free will, why cant god?if he has an automatic good nature that prevents it, why dont we?
gezo - why did god make a demetion like that and put us there?
THE BATTLE AXE: What is Worship? (10/18/2010)—Sin makes it that all existence and life are continually at risk. To avoid, defy, disobey, forget, hide from, ignore, provoke, refuse, reject, tempt or withhold truth from GOD is sin. Worship acknowledges and affirms (1) the existence of divine person, (2) invokes or calls the divine into presence, (3) responds to divine actions or sacred utterance (including proclamation, promise and prophecy) with obeisance, praise, supplication and thanksgiving, and (4) supplies experiences of ecstasy and transcendence wherein believers are themselves joined to the divine person. It is by joining ones spirit to GOD through worship that a person receives cleansing, healing, inner peace, sacred knowledge and strength—the same certainty, peace and wholeness that abides within the divine person. Because idols lack divine person, divine power, and divine substance, the worship of idols is accounted as false and vain [i.e., empty, fruitless, unfulfilling]. In Scripture, where dead, inanimate, manmade, unfeeling objects are used to picture and portray divine beings, they are called idols, images, likenesses, similitudes, and vanities. (Examples are carvings, buildings, and statues.) Living creatures, including human children and adults may be worshiped as chosen objects, and substitutions for divine persons; however, these too lack the full character of one divine. Effective worship must be heartfelt, and in accordance with the intent, nature, purposes and will of GOD. Worship, like love, is heartfelt to the extent one demands it of oneself, gives full expression to their own integrity, and totally embraces unity with the divine.
THE GOLDEN ARROW: Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit. (1st Thessalonians 4: 1-8)
*THE DOUBLE DAGGER: Are Sins Equal? (10/11/2010); Sin Defined? (06/28/2010)
Many perfect [i.e., complete, balanced, mature, stable] Christian believers understand human will is not “free” under the influence of sin; and there is no such thing as “free will.” Instead there is rebellion, rejection, submitted will, or there is yielded will, where one is directed to operate in the consciousness of divine purpose as expressed through law [i.e., the revealed will of GOD], through divine utterance [i.e., the word of GOD; proclamation, promise, prophecy], or through promptings from the imparted, indwelling Spirit of GOD.
All men are born having will; and will continues—like the appetite, the ears, the eyes, the hands, the knee caps—from cradle to grave as an aspect of ones full person. Along with pain from the acid on their skin once they have wet their diaper, a baby cries by an act of will. Just as one gradually acquires the ability to say “mama” or “dada” after multiple repetitions, and becomes toilet trained, the will is trained to be focused and efficient through gradual development. The undisciplined will cannot generate endurance, patience or self-restraint.
The kingdom of GOD is not the “land of do as you please;” rather, it is the land of “first, do what pleases GOD.” All who are in right relationship with GOD are responding to (1) compelling truth, (2) the force of repentance that is generated by the Holy Spirit, and (3) their own inward demands for self-discipline, self-regimen, and self-respect.
There is far more to be said, correctly understood, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, GOD exists as a unique being by virtue of the unique sacred will. GOD does not violate the divine person as men debase, pollute and violate themselves, and one another. Thus, GOD remains, holy, pure, sanctified, and undefiled.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.
