(07/06/2018) Repentance Among Christian Believers

ACTS 2:  38

Today, reply is on the sacred operations of repentance that are carried out by the imparted, indwelling Holy Spirit.  Repentance is not a discrete behavior or task to be performed as ones duty so much as it is an ongoing lifestyle.  The salvation that is achieved through repentance is more than simply escaping mortality, for the punishment for sin unrepented of is the second death.  Created beings and living creatures are permanently bound and joined to the Creator through their own makeup, their pre-ordained eternal purpose, and their sacred substance provided for existence and life.  Even so, the operations of sin oppose the continued existence of divine law, the Lawgiver, the entire universe established through divine order, and all covenant relationship that joins by faith, love, promise, and trust.  As hidden aspects of the divine active presence are stirred within a sinner, their consciousness and self-will are drawn again to their source within the divine fullness (we say, the Godhead; the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit).  A sinner must discover and increasingly respond to the elements of godliness and Christlikeness within themselves that enable realization of elements such as contrition, conviction, loss, lovingkindness, and remorse.  One of the fighters in the “Yahoo! Answers” Religion and Spirituality forum using the ID “?” (Level 1 (no points are shown); a member since November 09, 2017) posted the following:

What would motivate a killer to want to come to Christ and not a law-abiding atheist?

Why would someone who chooses evil want The Ultimate Good? Doesn't evil hate good anyway? So wouldn't that make them even more hard-hearted?

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:  But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.  For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.  For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.  So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.  For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.  (James 2:  8-13, King James Version, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  Divine Knowledge And Wisdom (06/24/2018); Changed And Made Christ-like? (06/19/2018); Life And Divine Purpose (05/04/2018); Christianity Is A Relationship (04/05/2018); Repentance A Lifestyle Event (02/09/2018); Choosing to be Reborn (01/29/2018); Relying on Sacred “Evidence” (11/20/2017)

“?”, leaving the emotional and mental posture of damnation for atheists and murderers, sinners are to become developing Christian believers by the operations of the Holy Spirit that establish the continuing ministry of Jesus Christ as High Priest, Redeemer, Risen Lord, and Savior.  The concept of “motivation” pertains to various elements of the flesh, carnal reason, and the exercise of self-will (we say, willpower).  The sacred processes of repentance appear from the deposits and endowments of spirit substance imparted from the makeup of the Creator (we say, his breath; life essence, spirit; word).  Included are acceptance of accountability, commitment, discernment, perseverance, prophecy, sorrow for sin, and surrender to the sovereign will of GOD.  Those who are “born again” in water baptism are to receive inseparable aspects of divinity such as faith, forbearance, forgiveness, holiness, longsuffering, lovingkindness, oneness without sameness, wisdom, and wrath against sin.  Consider again the following that uses language from the Bible:

(1.)  Ezekiel 18:  4, King James Version (KJV):  4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine:  the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

(2.)  Ezekiel 18:  20-23, KJV:  20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son:  the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.  21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.  22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him:  in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.  23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GODand not that he should return from his ways, and live?

(3.)  2nd Corinthians 7:  9-12, KJV:  9 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance:  for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing.  10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of:  but the sorrow of the world worketh death.  11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.  12 Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.

There is far more that should be said, correctly examined, and spiritually apprehended.  (For example, (4.)  Romans 8:  5-9, KJV:  5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God:  for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.  9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.)  Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful.  Be it unto you according to your faith.
