Today, the commandment to honor ones parents is considered in the light of a condition for following Christ. Also, there is more on the body we receive for eternal life. A writer at “Yahoo! Answers” using the ID “Psalm 119” (Level 2 with 985 points, a member since August 22, 2013) posted the following originally asked on Yahoo Answers Australia:
Did jesus teach us to break the 5th commandment?
If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. Luke 14:26
if you say no, then why do you claim that paul teaches us to break them?
THE BATTLE AXE: Embodied Afterlife? (10/11/2012)—Many of the teachings from Scripture lead us to believe that the body we receive in resurrection is not the sick or weak frame that we may have had at our demise. In addition to features believers desire and request in prayer, GOD will bestow features that please him along with the beauty of holiness that was lost through transgression by Adam. The process of divine revelation will continue whereby each person discovers and realizes new truth. Although anchored and working upon the earth (rather than living in heaven), mankind will be continually growing, learning and encountering surprise in the celestial presence.
THE GOLDEN ARROW: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck. My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. (Proverbs 1: 7-10, KJV)
THE DOUBLE DAGGER: Gentiles and the Law? (09/19/2013); According to This Word (09/20/2013); “Authorized Personnel Only”? (03/13/2013); Before Abraham Was… (03/14/2013); What to Take Literally (03/11/2013); A GOD of War? “Psalm 119”, here are a few points that those who seek the truth of Christ usually achieve by regular prayer, fellowship with mature Christian believers, and long study of the holy writings. A person may be given these things in an instant, however, it may take a lifetime of practical experience for them to correctly value and fully grasp:
(1) The words of Jesus must be understood recognizing their agreement with the divine purposes accomplished and displayed through the ministry of Jesus as well by recognition of the sacred Spirit that was alive in Jesus. The intent and principle of the divine law must be apprehended and discerned as no different from the righteousness that appears through acts of genuine faith.
(2) Believers in Jesus Christ also receive the Savior as a light that makes all spirit things otherwise covered by darkness appear with clarity. The Ten Commandments provided to create a new nation from 12 nomadic tribes was also supplied to further divine order throughout the universe of GOD.
There is much for us to learn from Scripture and the imparted, indwelling Spirit of Truth available through the ministry of Jesus Christ. (For example, family as a tool for existence is not centered in mere mutual affection and feelings, needs for protection, or social dependence. Under the hand of a GOD whose being is expressed through judgment, family is a tool for demonstrating mercy, proclaiming the law, and displaying the revelation of Divine Person.) I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith. Jesus is coming.
