Focus, today, is upon the Trinity; and there is more on Jesus and the sacred device of prayer. A “Yahoo! Answers” writer using ID “Damei” (Level 1 with 47 points, a member since March 29, 2012) posted the following:
The Doctrine of the Trinity - A question about JOHN 1:1. (Please read below.) . .?
Since God is Trinity, and Jesus is the Word,
let's look again at John 1:1.
In the beginning was the Word
and the Word was with God (The Trinity)
and the Word was God (The Trinity).
Does that make Jesus the Trinity?
If not, why not?
THE BATTLE AXE: Why GOD Prayed to GOD (09/07/2013)—(6.) That GOD is a spirit also means that existence is not limited to physical reality. However, before created beings and living creatures who grasp reality as carnal, material, physical, and social may correctly understand divinity (i.e., spirit and the full spectrum of truth involved), the operations of awareness and consciousness within the living must be transformed. The invisible GODhead becomes known through revelation that consists in multiple processes conceived within the person of divine Father, and executed by the persons of divine Son and Holy Spirit. Included are creation, judgment, covenant, new birth, prophecy, and sanctification. (7.) The question why Jesus prayed is often asked because, in human terms, there have to be issues of line authority and hierarchy. Believers in Jesus understand the oneness of father and son, in the same way the holy writings report David and Solomon were kings over Israel at the same time, who without conflict shared rule over the covenant people of GOD (see 1st Kings 1: 28-40, KJV ). (8.) The duty and priesthood of believers to offer prayer goes beyond asking for favor, and repeating ones petitions and private requests. In addition to a making of confession for oneself, others and all mankind, there should be intercession and mediation with GOD that only one at the level of GOD may provide. In this, prayer is shown to be a primary mechanism for growth and nourishment of ones spirit that must always appear among believers, because prayer is also the intimate expression of respect to exalted being. (9.) The reconciliation of GOD to mankind proceeds through prayer, and is now proclaimed in the truth that GODhead embraces flesh and humanity through Incarnation and Jesus Christ. The divinity of Jesus was demonstrated through the announcement of his birth and worship by angels, exorcisms, healing, imparting power to the apostles, prophecy, judgment, raising the dead, and ascension. The humanity of Jesus was demonstrated through affection and compassion toward others, his birth, death, labors, physical suffering, and prayer.
THE GOLDEN ARROW: Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. (Colossians 2: 8-12, King James Version)
THE DOUBLE DAGGER: The Spirit and Pentecost (03/27/2013); The Passion at Gethsemane (03/28/2013); Before Abraham Was… (03/14/2013); On Titles and Respect (03/15/2013); How Was GOD Known Before Jesus (10/06/2012); Jesus, King of Earth? (10/07/2012)
Damei, here are a few points of understanding about the Trinity that believers usually receive only by prayer, study of the holy writings, and faithful church attendance. Even though you are asking the question, and showing a readiness of mind to understand, it is nearly impossible to grasp these spiritual truths without first having ones own inner spirit changed and transformed (we say, born again). Even so, be encouraged:
(1.) GOD is and has always been spirit in substance. Spirit itself does not have fixed carnal, material and physical form as do clouds, energy, fog, mist, and smoke. Being, breath, utterance and words are sprit. Spirit does not display gender, mortality, or personality as do created beings and living creatures. However, spirit may appear through divine operations, and in accordance with sacred purpose. In this sense, as spirit functions, spirit is understood to display person.
(2.) Jesus Christ existed within the GODhead as spirit long before the divine operations (we say, Incarnation) whereby GOD became visible and known in continuing relationships among mankind upon the earth. By functioning as the agent of Creation who established the firmament, and caused the framework for humanity to appear, as well as anointing the body of believers in Christ at Pentecost, divine spirit has been manifest as the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of Prophecy, and the Spirit of Truth. By functioning as brother, king, Messiah, offspring, rabbi, redeemer, atoning sacrifice, savior, son, teacher and judge, the divine spirit has been manifest using a body of flesh.
There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually understood. For example, (3.) The oneness of GOD is not violated by differences in how GOD appears and functions among men. Consider again how a single individual may function as three persons, son, father and grandfather.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.
