Today, the Abrahamic and Mosaic covenants come into view with the testament in blood from Jesus Christ. All the divine covenants recorded in the Scriptures are not the same, do not have the same purpose, weight and spiritual value, and were not intended to continue indefinitely. Yet, they increasingly prepare mankind to be harvested from the earth as companions to divinity at the coming of Jesus Christ. Covenant for the Creation and eternal covenants between the Father and the Son are reported in the holy writings going back to before the fashioning of mankind (see Genesis 1: 26, 28 and Hebrews 13: 20, King James Version, KJV). Fellow Christians- need some help. Not getting something. What was the covenant in the OT based on? Circumcision or the Law?
Just got done reading Genesis 17 where Abraham gets the Covenant with God and God says the sign between them is circumcision. Ok. Got it. So where does the law given to Moses come into play? Why do people say that the old covenant is based on the law? Please help me connect the dots here. Gracias

“Anonymous”, Christ has revealed that the focus of all covenant relationship with divinity must be faith, promise, and trust. The holy writings describe multiple covenant relationships and priestly ministrations modeled after those in heaven that go all the way back before time began. In the fall of Adam, mankind’s life upon the earth came under new conditions and limitations; the status of women was altered; physical and spiritual death resulted; and the first promise of a Redeemer through the offspring of mankind was given. That man should govern his fellowman for GOD was established by the covenants through Noah that endorsed capital punishment as a legitimate judicial power of the state. Abraham lived as a nomad, however, he maintained government and order that acknowledged GOD over a household of servants, workers, and their families that numbered in thousands. GOD promised Abraham that a divinely ordered nation would come into being through the Patriarch’s own offspring. The Mosaic Covenant was granted the Hebrews who fled Egypt to annul and supersede the divine covenant then in place with the seven tribes of Canaan. The tribes of Jacob were to become transformed and serve as a legitimate nation, and the offspring of GOD. The covenant of David promised a continuing and stable order for Israel; and the establishment of an eternal house of worship in Jerusalem. Even so, the unified kingdom was lost by Solomon who, supported the idolatry of his 700 wives and 300 concubines, and ended with his son, Rehoboam. As the son of Adam, the Son of Abraham, Son of David, and Son of GOD, Jesus Christ is understood as recovering and fulfilling all the terms of all the covenants, and establishing a “new creation” through his own blood shed upon the cross. Consider again the following:
(1.) Romans 4: 7-13, King James Version (KJV): 7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. 9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. 10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. 11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: 12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised. 13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

Colossians 2: 8-14, KJV: 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
(3.) Romans 4: 14-22, KJV: 14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: 15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. 16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, 17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. 18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, (4.) Colossians 3: 8-14, KJV: 8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: 11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. 12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.
