Today, reply is shared to a question on whether the Creator is a GOD of love. Rather than saying “love”, the power residing within the Creator that operates to maintain relationships with the created is spoken of as blessing, commitment, exclusive devotion, a free gift, and grace. Thus, demonstrations and displays of divine love include the putting forth of divine law as a foundation for existence, creation of the first pair (Adam and Eve), the embrace of man through the Sabbath rest of GOD, the bestowal of dominion over the whole earth to mankind as well as their expulsion from the Garden, the use of death to release sinners from sin, and the children of man being provided with foreknowledge and hope through proclamation, promise and prophecy. The death of Jesus Christ upon the cross was one of the highest expressions of divine love, for his atoning sacrifice furthers the transformation of mankind to exist as life companions to divinity and a “new creation” having a new, eternal covenant. Is God a God of love?
THE GOLDEN ARROW: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2: 8-10, King James Version, KJV)
THE DOUBLE DAGGER: The Sure Mercies of David (09/19/2016); Divine and Unconditional Love (09/18/2016); Love Whom GOD Loves (08/26/2016); In Relationship With Divinity? (08/16/2016); Bad GOD, Good GOD? (01/03/2016); Punishment To Show Love? (11/29/2015); Divine Jealousy? (09/11/2015)
“Vlakiades”, mature Christian believers continue in commitment to the Creator, and acknowledge many divine acts and works as expressions of his affection, care, gentleness, kindness, and love. However, in the same way it requires acceptance of a full system of sacred knowledge to correctly realize that GOD is a “spirit” who can not be genuinely understood relying only upon carnal, material, social, and secular truth, created beings and living creatures must acquire and use special frameworks provided by divinity to know and receive “love” as expressed by GOD. Included are the appearance of divinity using flesh as Jesus Christ, and dying upon the cross as part of atonement, correction, redemption, and salvation for mankind. Sinners and unbelievers often characterize divinity as a bully, a cruel dictator, and a heartless murderer. They condemn GOD as one who denies freedom to the living, imposes too many limits, interferes, and who reigns through terror and threats of rejection. Their own ignorance, exaggerated pride, and selfishness blinds them to the true nature and purpose of “life essence” (we say, breath, spirit, utterance, word). Love pertains to the forces that join and maintain separate beings in shared relationship. Thus, where we speak of divine love we also must acknowledge accountability, clarity, duty, forbearance, forgiveness, unselfish giving, humility, meekness, obedience, respect, restraint, truth-telling, and yielding. The love of GOD is expressed in every divine operation. Included are covenant, healing, inheritance, incarnation, judgment, divine law, penance, proclamation, promise, prophecy, rebirth, repentance, resurrection of the dead, and sanctification. Consider how some of this is stated using language from the Bible:
(1.) Deuteronomy 7: 7-10, King James Version (KJV): 7 The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: 8 But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; 10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.
(2.) 1st John 4: 18-20, KJV: 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19 We love him, because he first loved us. 20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
(3.) Romans 8: 5-9, KJV: 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
There is far more to be said, carefully examined, and spiritually apprehended. (For example, (4.) Revelation 1: 4-6, KJV: 4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; 5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.) Even so, I trust this fragment will be useful. Be it unto you according to your faith.
