(11/11/2013) Promise of A Spirit?

Today, readers are challenged to examine a brief study of Old Testament writings that proclaim and prophesy GOD outpouring his Spirit upon mankind.  Also, there is more on why the Son of GOD was sent.  The writer at “Yahoo! Where in the old testament Does it say that God will send his Holy spirit to people?

THE BATTLE AXE:  Why Was A Son Sent? (11/10/2013)—There are many important aspects to the coming of Jesus that believers do not immediately recognize, such as the details of his role as High Priest.  While through Christ, a divine atonement is made for sins of the community, its leadership, and the very priesthood of the High Priest himself, atonement is not an indiscriminate or “wholesale” pardon to believers of unnamed offenses without their acknowledgement of specific wrongdoing, confession and repentance.  The atoning blood is applied only through information and knowledge, not assumptions about faults and transgressions, guesses, or unfounded conclusions.  Christ as the High Priest and an anointed Judge examines and investigates the particulars of every case to identify those truly accepting mercy, and cooperating with the sacred benefits of holy salvation.  Thereby, judgment is shown to be more than an abstract or mechanical process; judgment is seen as a personal, yet, impartial sacred event that further reveals the righteousness of GOD.

THE GOLDEN ARROW:  And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:  That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them:  and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.  But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD.  (Ezekiel 11:  19-21, KJV)

THE DOUBLE DAGGER:  Utterance is Spirit (09/08/2013); A Start for the Idea of GOD? (09/09/2013); Of Sure Hope and Certainty (09/05/2013); Prophetic Demonstrations (09/06/2013); The Spirit and Pentecost (03/27/2013); The Passion at Gethsemane (03/28/2013)

“Trilobiteme”, I challenge you to read and stand up for what you will understand:

In the Book of Genesis, the Spirit of GOD is first revealed through the Scriptures of the Bible as the aspect of Divine Person that physically operates to accomplish Creation (see 1:  2, KJV).  In Genesis 6:3, KJV, the holy spirit may be recognized as interactive and interpersonal, operating in direct relationship with created beings and living creatures.  In Genesis 41:  38, KJV, the Patriarch Joseph is one of the first described as being endowed with the indwelling Holy Spirit from GOD.  Later, in the book of Exodus, the holy spirit appears within craftsmen and all the congregation following Moses as they are challenged to complete the work of building the Tabernacle (see 28:  3, 31:  3, and 35:  21, KJV).

The prayer that all might receive the Holy Spirit is first uttered by the Prophet Moses in the Book of Numbers (see 11:  29, KJV); and the anointing through the Holy Spirit that established Moses as prophet was bestowed upon 70 elders (the Sanhedrin of that time; see 11:  11-31, KJV).  The promise from GOD of a new covenant and correction through the Spirit can be clearly seen in Isaiah (29:  23-24, 32:  14-16, 44:  3, and 59:  21, KJV) and Jeremiah (31:  31-34, KJV).  In addition, the Prophet Joel joyfully proclaims the revealed intent of GOD (Joel 2:  23-32, KJV).

There is far more to be said, correctly applied, and spiritually understood.  (For example, the imparted Spirit from GOD is spoken of in the holy writings using many different names and titles.  Included are the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, faith, love, Wisdom, and the Spirit of Prophecy.  Believers all must read very carefully not to miss subtle, yet clear, divine declarations that have the force and value of promises and truth.  Through the ministry of Jesus Christ, we may rely upon our own inner measure of the imparted Spirit for correction, guidance, and sacred instruction.)  I trust this fragment will be useful.  Even so, be it unto you according to your faith.  Jesus is coming soon, and it may not be truthfully said we were given “no answers,” no opportunities to learn and understand, and no indwelling Spirit of Truth.  Grow in grace.
